Hay tracks que no buscan presentarse: entran, golpean y se quedan. “Let’s Go!”, el corte inaugural del nuevo álbum Jackin’ Up The Juice de Steve Thirry, es exactamente eso: un estallido de Chicago House reducido a su esencia más directa y funcional. Quince segundos que funcionan como mantra, como aviso, como el chasquido que inaugura la sesión y marca territorio. Un gesto mínimo, pero con la actitud suficiente para activar el pulso del disco entero.

Thirry —productor, compositor y responsable absoluto del track— abre así una obra que FenixFire describe como “drivin’ and pumpin’”, cargada de percusión y ADN clásico jacking. Pero “Let’s Go!” no pretende competir con los temas más largos del álbum: su potencia radica en su función ritual. Es la luz que se enciende antes de que la maquinaria arranque. El “prepara el cuerpo” antes del “salta al vacío”.

En un catálogo que se mueve entre la herencia de Chicago y una lectura contemporánea del house más físico, este microtrack actúa como llave simbólica: pura actitud, cero adornos, un disparo que abre la puerta a lo que viene —Rock The Beat, Illegal Call, I Wanna Jack— y, sobre todo, al espíritu jacking que FenixFire proclama haber abrazado oficialmente.

Swiss producer Honorée returns to Rekids with ‘Marée Haute EP’ this January, featuring two intelligently produced deep cuts with a remix from Perlon’s Margaret Dygas.

Basel-based artist Honorée’s inaugural release ‘Marée Basse EP’ appeared on Rekids earlier this year and demonstrated a musical understanding acquired from extensive DJ experience within Switzerland’s club scene. ‘Marée Haute EP’ is Honorée’s second outing on Rekids and includes a remix from renowned minimal DJ/producer and Panorama Bar regular Margaret Dygas.

‘Dorian’ delivers crisp drum grooves which underpin mesmerising chord progressions, haunting synthesiser motifs and spacey vocals before ‘208’ provides infectious drum rhythms, glitched vocal cuts and hypnotic melodies which sit on top of a rumbling low-end. Margaret Dygas’ take on ‘Dorian’ offers a pulsating bass hook and sharp percussion which lays the foundation for dubbed-out synths and ethereal atmospheres to close the release.

Special Request joins forces with Nina Kraviz and Anastasia Kristensen, shattering the doors of perception over a four-track EP. ‘Through The Looking Glass’ drops 27th July on Houndstooth.

On the A side, Nina Kraviz provides two interpretations of ‘Curtain Twitcher’. ‘Alice Was Here Remix’ takes the intensity of the original and boils it into a 4/4 spin of frenzied basslines and distorted acoustics, punctuated by her languid reading of the Mad Hatter. For the ‘Samba Remix’, syncopated polyrhythms take charge of a fragmented melody.

Opening the AA side, ‘Looking Glass’ lures you down the rabbit hole with mysterious bleeps, only to reveal a whirlwind of stormy breaks and junglist percussion. Closing off the trip, Anastasia Kristensen’s remix of ‘Tiresias’ marches its way through a field of swollen bass and glitchy percussion.
