Background announces a series of tracks, with periodical releases, on Ribbon Recordings. The selected tracks reflect the style of the events organized by Background at the Ribbon Club. The first release will be "Call The People" by Alessio Pagliaroli. The single features a guest appearance from Jerome Stokes (vocals). The duo Pagliaroli-Stokes is not a new one, as they have already realized a vinyl record for the Berliner Moodmusic, which has received a considerable success among the djs around the world.
The style of the label will be outlined by releases that range from electronic house to techno. Two versions by Alessio Pagliaroli, the techno remix by Spencer Parker completes the package. His presence says a lot about the sound of this new series.

Milan based collective Just This return with their biggest compilation yet, a twelve track package featuring varied entries from label regulars and esoteric talents alike. JT022 is due for release July 13th.

Melodic fragments and melancholic harmonies spiral through ricocheting drums and marching kicks. Contributions from Skudge, Hiver, Hunter/Game, Artefakt, Pizetsky and many more combine to forge a formidable package channelling moody, hypnotic techno for darkened dancefloors.

Sawlin's debut EP on Delsin off shoot Ann Aimee went down so well it only made sense to have him craft another. 'Eviment' is that EP, made up of three more deep and subterranean techno cuts that play with plenty of textures.

Title track 'Eviment' is a tortured and paranoid offering that has a nagging vocal stretched out over splashy claps and a foreboding bottom end thud. It's vast and dark, spare and haunting where 'Kretze' is a bigger and bolder track. The analogue percussion and serrated lines all sound old and aged as they mark out a scraping, dystopian vision of a world well away from here.

'Sour Tear' has a more syncopated, techno-funk groove but is still padded out with plenty of dubby undercurrents. Sawlin's percussion sounds are wholly non standard, from clanking metal to twanging strings, everything sounds like a real world sound, which makes his music as arresting as anyone's, despite being made firmly for the techno backroom.

Sawlin - Eviment [ann017]

Lights Out brings you another exclusive premiere from Heiko Lux's Kanzleramt imprint, which has just celebrated 25 years. Taken from his Redemption EP, Alexander Kowalski's Inheritance is a prime cut of trippy, hypnotic, booming techno. Weighty low-end drives the track forward, as the lead bell sound moves all across the audio field amidst crispy percussion, creating a sense of traveling through another dimension. This is one of those tracks that when played at the right time, can easily have you forget where you are. Alexander Kowalski's Redemption EP will be released on November 22 via Kanzleramt.
