everybody pays in the end

In 2003 former Stupidicus band mate John Addicot proposed I write a number of songs and put a band together for an upcoming European tour. The result was Gunstar Heroes, named after the Treasure video game for the Sega Megadrive. 

The tour was a success and we remained together for several years. I remained the main songwriter for both lyrics and music but welcomed contributions from the band. The line up changed over the years but all departures were on good terms and I consider them all friends to this day.

The Album was produced by Luke Bond in a start-up studio he built. We paid him £1000 to record 10 tracks and the results are, shall we say, mixed. As a demo and something to sell at gigs we thought it was good enough. Alas, with no management or business savvy (and quite possibly because we weren’t good enough) the band didn’t make money and soon collapsed. Before the band broke up we had two new songs ‘The Phoenix’ and ‘Life is Simple’ I felt were a strong step forward in terms of song-writing and technical skill.

As the years roll on and having not produced anything since I feel it would be cathartic to let this album occupy a corner of the internet.
