We've been tight with Peckham collective and record label Rhythm Section for a long time now, and catching wind of a new release is always a very big deal. Aukland-born and Peckham-based duo Chaos in the CBD have been on our radar for a minute. You'll probably know these two as the hands behind their seminal debut Midnight in Peckham, released last year. Their new release, Invisible Spectrum, doesn't disappoint. Our favourite of the tracks, "Significant Others" brings the EP to its peak with heavy jazz influences, a bongo beat and serious dance capabilities. Get ready to be wrapped up in the kind of groove that makes you forget all the bad stuff.

The Invisible Spectrum is released on 9th September.

La compilation "Musique Concrète Beginners Guide" vient d'être publiée sur bandcamp par Shaun Robert. Chaque compilation de l'Institute For Alien Research porte sur un thème spécifique et, pour cette édition, il a été demandé aux participants d'intégrer un texte expliquant ce qu'est pour eux "la musique concrète" dans une piste d'art sonore.

La pièce "Patakousmatikoi" est ma réponse à cet appel de projet... La bande-sonore est composée de montages de bruits de pas dans une flaque d'eau, de sons captés par la NASA et d'explosions de billes de silice dans un verre d'eau. Elle a été conçue en fonction du texte, et non l'inverse. 

"The sounds used in the non-verbal part of the track Patakousmatikoi were chosen because they refer to sound phenomena that are named in the text, written beforehand. So, by searching online for sounds produced by chemical reactions (microcosm) and celestial bodies (macrocosm), I found a number of Youtube videos documenting the absorption of water by silica gel beads, as well as Jupiter, Saturn and interstellar plasma mp3 files, recorded by NASA and available on its website. The title evokes Pataphysics, acousmatic art and initiation to the Pythagorean Mysteries."
