Inclusive music sessions and activities developed by Matt Philip Hale for Cerebral Palsy Midlands.

A collaborative project since 2013, specialised techniques and methods have proven to be highly stimulating for people of various ages and interests. 

Technical assistant and musical collaborator, Ben Linstead, also utilizes his skills.

Supervised free-expression, adaptive teamwork, bespoke one-on-one sessions, personal development, recording work, ICT experience, visual design, instrument maintenance and public performances.

We have a live session from 1pm - 3pm every Tuesday and 10am - 12pm on a Thursday (using headphones sometimes). We also have interactive technology focussed sessions and creative studio work on Thursday afternoons and Friday mornings.

When it comes to music, i like many different styles and genres... So for me the idea of following a certain pattern or style on every song, to me, it's something that i personally don't feel attracted too. When i sit down to write an idea for a song, i simply write and record what comes out naturally. I don't try to match the songs. I don't try to fit it into a style or try to make it sound like the previous one or the one coming next. I played metal music all my life. Still do. And GRITOS (which is the Portuguese word for screams) is where i can just do and write what i want without having to explain to the other members why or what the fuck i am doing. With GRITOS i feel free to just be myself and be open artistically with my music, and explore different sounds. Hope you like it, and if you do so, please hit the like button or post a comment. The music of The Young Love Scene was born in 2017, a year in which Gordon Goldsmith faced challenges he did not know he could surmount. After releasing the EP Haypenny Hashcandy under his own name, Goldsmith was burned out, jaded, and flat broke. TYLS began as a way for him to work through his feelings of loss and alienation after he moved back home to recuperate. Frustrated with Haypenny’s failure to portray the full range of his emotions, he started over. 

                                                         The rules were: no rules. He layered fuzzed-out guitars on top of one another until they sounded like oceans. He began experimenting with synthesizers and drum machines, punching in primordial rock and roll beats to propel the oceans forward. He sang simple melodic lines over the resulting tracks, drenched them in reverb, and blasted the resulting demos back into his own ears at earsplitting volume, cupping the headphones tight against his skull to make the music even louder. He did this deep into the night, night after night - first in a borrowed basement and then in an apartment barely big enough for a hot plate and mini fridge. While friends, family members, and neighbors slept soundly in adjacent rooms, sonic mayhem as big as a universe swirled inside his headphones. Had they heard, they would have heard what would become the chorus to TYLS’s first demo, a paean to the gods of loneliness, blasting on repeat:


“And I know you know it’s hard to do/Being stuck like glue/But I know you know just what I am/I’m a Bloodstained Man”
