"When I'm in a certain place, and there's a certain smell or atmosphere, that really inspires me. So sometimes when I make a track, it kind of resembles this moment I had in this specific place."

upsammy (@upsammy) was a resident DJ at Amsterdam's much loved De School nightclub and words like "adventurous" are often used to describe her sets. As electricity blossoms and leaves glisten, upsammy creates interpretative space, cleverly paradoxical in its concurrent comfort and desolation. Known for her keen ear for crystalline melodies and intricate rhythms, her name is Thessa Torsing; she transcends traditional genre boundaries, creating a space where the digital and organic harmonize.

Helena Hauff (@helena-hauff) expertly curated DJ sets spanning acid, electro, techno, EBM, and post-punk. Her powerful drum beats collide with freely wandering melodies. Her sound is tailor-made for those who appreciate raw, yet restrained intensity, dragging the dance floor into a frosty abyss. Her debut album "A Tape" in 2015 garnered attention for its intricate manipulation of sound, where she meticulously arranges gritty and rough noises, filling in the gaps with rhythmic intricacies. Her other releases, "Discreet Desires" and the EP "Have You Been There, Have You Seen," experimentally layer and intertwine, with twisted waveforms akin to rusted artifacts, creating an unfriendly listening experience that compels bodily movement to escape Helena Hauff's auditory swamp. It evokes sounds from the Hague's western coast in the Netherlands—blending synthesized tones of Italo Disco with the gritty spirit of Detroit. Despite its unfriendliness, "Have You Been There, Have You Seen" still offers warmth and rhythmic service to dancers with tracks like "Nothing Is What I Know" and "Gift." This year, renowned dance label fabric Records recognized Helena Hauff's unique selections and released "fabric presents Helena Hauff," recreating the dance scenes she once fostered at the Golden Pudel club in Hamburg, Germany.

Gigging incessantly (and still lugging a heavy box of records across the world), Helena's reputation earned her an invitation to join the BBC Radio 1 Residency. She was the subject of cover features for Crack Magazine and DJ Mag, played headline sets at Sonar (b2b with Ben UFO) and Dekmantel, and at the end of 2017, Crack Magazine declared Helena "The Most Exciting DJ In The World (Right Now)" and her ballistic BBC Essential Mix was voted the best of 2017. With razor-sharp precision, her melodies redefine Electro/Techno, adhering to her signature cold and dark taste over the past decade, regardless of current musical trends. Utilizing turntables for minimalist yet forceful performances, she effortlessly navigates between peaks and troughs, even with the risk of needle skips, confidently rolling cigarettes as she cruises at high speeds between highs and lows, making her a unique and standout figure in the scene.

As a central figure of two major Stockholm labels, YEAR0001 and Northern Electronics, Varg2™ (@varg2tm) is one of Sweden's most significant producers today. Renowned for his iconic rebellious aesthetics and various cross-genre collaborations, he has worked with artists such as Skrillex, Yung Lean, Bladee, Ecco2k, and Eartheater. His all-encompassing musical vision and fearless innovation, disregarding rules, set him apart.

First coming to prominence running Stockholm’s Northern Electronics label with Anthony Linell, Varg2™’s early releases fused misanthropy with techno’s primal parts. Marked by a prolific work rate and a perceptive ear for collaboration, in 2016 his anarchic operations gave rise to the Nordic Flora Series. The series saw Varg2™ put trap and EDM into orbit with ambient and electro-acoustic experimentation to devastating effect. This fed directly into the creation of his label Cease 2 Exist, which was inaugurated in 2020. Giving space to explore frenetic hyperpop crossed with trap, and all the while nodding to Sweden’s EDM culture, Varg2™ has made perfect sense of his incomprehensible mix of collaborators and tastes. He’s at home working with Sweden’s rap vanguard—Yung Lean, Bladee, Thaiboy Digital—just as he is working with everyone from Eartheater, Skrillex, and Rx Papi to Alessandro Cortini, CTM, and Blackhaine. With a singular vision, Varg2™ wears his lust for life and chaos on his sleeve.

Building on his first frenzied EP for YEAR0001—the recent Lonestar Pandemonium EP—as well as his manic curation with Cease 2 Exist, Varg2™ now presents the sixth and final installment of the Nordic Flora Series. Entitled Nordic Flora Series Pt.6: Outlaw Music, the album discloses everything that has led to this point. Like an austere vandal, Varg2™ has only increased the turbulence with Outlaw Music. Twisting cutting-edge aesthetics with his taste for wry melancholy, his masterful productions feature a slew of guests. Skrillex, and Ecco2K appear across the album’s brightest tracks, while darker yet delicate moments tap Rx Papi, Eartheater for input.

With Outlaw Music at the apex, Varg2™’s Nordic Flora Series is bold and ambitious, but most of all it’s maniacally tender through all the anxiety. If it seems evasive, you probably can’t relate to it.

This set is designed to start playing exactly 72 minutes before sunrise for a more enjoyable experience.

At the outdoor raves they host, the sunrise holds profound significance, becoming something akin to a ritual. The passage of time awakens an awareness of the soul, and the sunrise offers the most direct way to experience it. In the darkness of night, this sense of spirituality is often absent, but the sunrise reawakens it, calling it back into the empty body. This set is crafted to support that experience, and they themselves have been profoundly touched by it many times. This is the essence of みんなのきもち Minna-no-kimochi.

Evangelists of Eastern Non-corporeal Trance sent from the land of the rising sun. Founded in Tokyo in 2021 as a rave crew, this sect has experimental roots in ambient music and deconstructed club music that has emerged across Asia in recent years. Building on these roots, they deconstruct corporeal club music through their unique interpretation, striving to achieve spiritual elevation. They hold raves irregularly at coastal areas, ruins, and warehouses around Tokyo. They also operate an independent, private network on a certain chat app for community-based activities. As a DJ unit, they actively tour worldwide, performing in Asia and Europe. Their label project, "Mizuha 罔象 (@mizuha-cc)" focuses exclusively on the spiritual aspect, gathering innovative works from around the world.

PURE Guest.073 Minna-no-kimochi

This mix is the sound of hearts unraveling. Yawning Portal (@yawningportal) is an opening to other worlds: a transmutation, a prayer.

They wake with the taste of static on their tongue, echoes decay: the thread thins…there was never a first note. The atmosphere is serene and distant, with light piercing through swirling mist. Water flows gracefully through the crevices, reflecting shimmering silhouettes — a quiet beauty, gentle and warm, like the shape of love.

Hailing from London, this duo excels at capturing the intricate textures of sound, moving seamlessly between delicate field recordings and refined sampling. They released their debut EP Heart and Earth in 2020 via PLZ Make it Ruins and have since released singles via Odyxxey, Slagwerk, Club Paradiso & 29 Speedway and YEAR0001’s RIFT compilation. They scored Lydia Ourahmane’s immersive installation Survival in the Afterlife at Portikus, Frankfurt alongside an hourlong digital release Notice the Direction of Fires and collaborated with Ourahmane again to score the film Tassili; the film has since been presented at museums and institutions internationally. Since 2020 they have hosted under sleepy moon, a monthly show on NTS radio.

@merely is a Swedish singer and producer known for her versatile, emotionally rich sound. She seamlessly blends crystalline vocals with ethereal instrumentals, creating a style that falls somewhere between ambient trance and chamber pop—evoking a vast, tranquil atmosphere reminiscent of the misty Nordic coastline. Her lyrics resonate deeply, stirring misty eyes and clear hearts, and guiding listeners down dreamy, flirtatious paths into worlds they long to enter.

Her latest project, Essential Mixtape, a collaboration with French ambient artist Malibu, was released on YEAR0001 in November 2024, drawing listeners into even deeper meditative realms.

DJ MELL G (@djmellg) is one of the most authentic artists to emerge from the electronic music realm in recent years. The Hamburg-based DJ, producer, and founder of the label JUICY GANG RECORDS has found her sound in the shades of electro, breakbeat, techno, and EBM, mutating these textures to form her own surgically precise signature. 

A string of career-defining B2Bs with Helena Hauff, DJ Stingray 313 are just a handful of highlights in her trajectory so far. DJ MELL G's debut album 'ISSUES', released in 2023 on her label JUICY GANG RECORDS, showcased her most steely and personal collection to date. It received critical acclaim from Resident Advisor and support from Vogue.

This mix features a selection of upcoming new bangers that haven't been released by her or her label yet, making it a must-listen. Moving from acid techno to UK bass and wrapping up with bass-heavy electro, it highlights the sounds that define her unique style.

Darwin operates in the realm of low-end frequencies, delivering a tripped-out, sub-rattling blend of styles firmly rooted in soundsystem culture.

Her sets move with swampy intensity and hypnotic flow, drawing dancers in while maintaining a quiet versatility. A seasoned crate digger across many genres, she’s as comfortable playing back-to-back with DJ Storm, Mala or Lena Willikens as she is closing out Bassiani or Berghain’s Klubnacht.

Born in Canada, Darwin found her way into dance music after moving to London—first working at fabric in the mid-2000s, then experiencing a bass eureka moment years later at a Swamp81 party. That defining night set the course for her next chapter in Berlin, where she founded her label SPE:C in 2015 to spotlight emerging global talents like Decka, Carré, Axle, Beatrice M., and Tano.
In 2016, she launched REEF at the now-defunct Griessmuehle, a club where she had started a monthly techno-focused DJ residency 2 years earlier that helped develop her signature stripped back, sci-fi-infused sound. The boundary-pushing party brought bass music’s alien energy into the heart of the techno capital, which now calls Berghain home. 

2024 marked a new chapter in Darwin’s evolution with the launch of ABYSS, a Sunday evening soundsystem series centered on the restorative power of low-end frequencies. Blending transcendental dance music with breathwork, meditation and healing practices, the event creates a space where sound connects body and mind. ABYSS has also teamed up with Wuppertal’s acclaimed Open Ground club for an extended weekend takeover, with plans to expand the concept to other cities in the future.

PURE Guest.083 Darwin

This set was recorded at the legendary rave inside Narita Airport on April 19, 2025, hosted by Japanese rave crews Minna-no-kimochi and Topia.

E.O.U (@eoumuse) is a Kyoto-based artist born in 2000. Through music, DJ sets, and live performances, he expresses a wide range of phenomena via sound. Known for collecting sonic textures, symbols, atmospheres, and contours from around the world, he transforms them through a singular sensibility into immersive journeys destined for the dancefloor.

His sound blends fast-paced, mind-bending, time-warping IDM, psychedelic Techno, and DnB, occasionally punctuated by flashes of Hyperpop brilliance and wrapped in ethereal, spatial sound design. Everything he crafts is rooted in a deep and meticulous mastery of sonic detail.

In 2022, he released his debut mixtape estream. The following year, he launched his own label halo, and became one of the curators behind the party loopな at WWWβ Shibuya. He also hosted e-nodate, an experimental tea ceremony at the Kyoto Art Center that explored the fusion of ambient music and traditional tea culture. His performances have been featured at major music platforms such as Fuji Rock and Boiler Room.

@Iglooghost is the musical alias of Bristol-based artist Seamus Malliagh, a key figure in experimental electronic music. Known for his intricate, genre-defying productions and immersive visual storytelling, his work blends hyper-detailed soundscapes with surreal, magical-realist narratives—serving as gateways into vast fictional ecosystems filled with cryptic lore and imagined subcultures.

His 2024 album Tidal Memory Exo, released on LUCKYME®, was written during a period spent squatting in a storm-battered garage on the Kent coast. The project draws from that harsh environment, imagining a world where prehistoric debris washes ashore, giving rise to trilobite civilizations and a rogue “tidal scene” of musicians inventing mutated genres like Foamtek, SporeStyle, and Germ_Musik.

Forthcoming on LUCKYME®, Iglooghost’s next EP, 「ᮜ˚」, expands the lore introduced in Tidal Memory Exo. Drawing inspiration from construction vehicles, heavy machinery, and factories, the record dives further into his vocal-led, post-punk-influenced direction teased on the last album—pushing his worldbuilding into even grittier, more industrial territory.

Copenhagen based producer oqbqbo (@oqbqbo) weaves ambient, euphoric dance music that feels both otherworldly and oddly familiar - a sonic realm where eurodance memories flicker through the haze of contemporary club music. Wordless vocals haunt her tracks like half-remembered dreams, not telling stories, but becoming an instrument of emotional texture rather than narrative clarity.

Since 2019, oqbqbo has been part of the world around Posh Isolation. Her work moves between solo pieces and collaborations - recently with Scandinavian Star on "In This Together" an album released in April 2025.

Under the Priori (@priori-ties) moniker, Québecois musician Francis Latreille has established himself as a crucial voice in underground techno — as a producer, DJ, and live artist. Across a sprawling discography that includes four full-length albums, several EPs, and a host of collaborative projects, he has crafted a sound that is richly textured and genre-defying.

Priori’s work spans the full spectrum of techno, from introspective and meditative passages to driving, dancefloor-oriented momentum. His productions blend elements of ambient, dub, IDM, and tech house, navigating fluidly between nature and technology with a signature sense of unresolved tension. Fractal-like rhythms, crystalline textures, and meticulous sound design define his sonic world — intricate, vibrant, and emotionally resonant.

Beyond his solo output, Priori is also an accomplished mixing engineer, having collaborated with artists such as james K, Bambii, Maara, Ex-Terrestrial, Roza Terenzi, and D.Tiffany. As a co-founder of both NAFF and Jump Source Studio, his influence continues to shape the contours of underground electronic music across Canada and Europe.

Few producers embody the contradictions of our era as viscerally as Pavel Milyakov, better known under his alias Buttechno (@buttechno). First emerging from underground with a body of work that oscillated between post-industrial techno and introspective ambient, Milyakov has since shifted his practice towards deeper sonic and conceptual terrains. Now based in Berlin, he operates equally as composer, collaborator, and cultural agitator — using music as a vessel to process historical trauma, collective memory, and the psychic toll of authoritarianism. Whether channelling harsh noise into haunted minimalism or scoring fractured rave anthems with meditative restraint, his output refuses easy categorisation. Across projects with artists like Bendik Giske, Lucas Dupuy, and Martyna Basta, as well as his PSY X label, Milyakov crafts spaces where vulnerability and resistance coexist.

As Buttechno, Milyakov continues to challenge what techno can hold: abrasive textures meet hypnotic repetition; dancefloor urgency meets political grief. His sets, like his productions, exist in a tension between euphoria and erosion — propulsive yet frayed, euphoric yet elegiac. A fierce opponent of neo-imperialist ideologies, Milyakov has used his platform to denounce war crimes, reroute funds toward humanitarian efforts, and elevate lesser-known voices from the margins. From early cult releases like "Eastern Strike" to his recent frost-laced "lost sounds" EP, his sonic language has grown expansive, intimate, and defiantly plural. In this week's mix, expect a deep and atmospheric set that not only moves bodies, but also challenges histories, offering not escape, but confrontation, communion, and transformation.

Carolina Schutzer aka Cashu (@carol-schutzer) is one of the key figures of São Paulo’s queer underground electronic music scene, where her work constantly communicates urgent political issues. In an attempt to occupy and decentralize the São Paulo scene, Cashu and Carneosso created the Mamba Negra collective, an independent brand which provides a platform for diversified artists. Their street events that usually take place in abandoned and uninhabited locations, such as student and artist squats, push forward the fight for female representation and sexual and gender freedom. The collective was formed in 2013 as a platform for live and organic music and has since solidified into one of São Paulo’s main electronic music parties and expanded to become a Label, Agency and Radio station.

As an active character in São Paulo’s electronic scene, Cashu frequently performs at block parties, small venues and independent collectives. She has played in over 15 cities and participated in several collectives that work for occupying, decentralizing and hacking the Brazilian night scene. She also brings her energy to big clubs and festivals such as Dekmantel Festival in SP, Red Bull Music Academy Festival SP, or abroad in Panorama Bar/Berghain, De School, Unsound Festival.

Messengers of sound from ancient rituals, Space Drum Meditation (@spacedrummeditation) harness primal tribal drums and rhythms to channel mysterious and uncharted electronic energy, opening gateways to unknown realms. Over the past five years, the Germany-based duo has cultivated a unique sonic signature, fusing traditional percussion and esoteric instruments with cutting-edge electronic elements to create music that is both untamed and deeply spiritual.

Their genre-defying approach seamlessly merges tribal, electronic, ambient, and abstract techno, crafting immersive experiences that feel like shamanic voyages through deep sonic landscapes. Whether performing live or delivering hypnotic DJ sets, Space Drum Meditation guides listeners on journeys of power, illusion, and transcendence.

Alongside their performances, the duo runs their own record label under the same name, championing boundary-pushing sounds and primarily releasing their own work — ensuring their sonic energy continues to resonate and expand across the globe.

A driving force of rhythm from Brazil’s underground, RHR (@rhrmusiq) grew up in the favelas of São Paulo, where the raw pulse of the streets, from the directness of rap to the fire of funk and the thunder of drums, became the foundation of his life and the essence of his sound. It’s a sonic DNA that makes his work impossible to imitate. Whether channelling techno infused with grime, or reworking bass, dancehall, electro and baile funk, he bends each form into something feral and untamed, igniting heat and blood rush on the dancefloor.

To date, RHR has released five solo EPs, each one a kind of sonic document, mapping the layered histories and realities of São Paulo and translating them into electrifying soundscapes. Alongside collaborations with Mamba Rec, Omnidisc, Pac Recs and Nice and Deadly, he is also a core member of New York’s TIJOLO Records, leaving a distinct imprint across the global underground network.

One of New York’s most romantic and exhilarating electronic sounds, DJ Python (@worldwideunlimited) makes his debut this year on XL Recordings with the EP "i was put on this earth". On this record, he gently forays into uncharted territory as a singer, producer, and collaborator, an evolution made all the more impressive in light of his groundbreaking musical projects to date, such as "Mas Amble", "Angel", and "Club Sentimientos Vol. 2". While splitting his time between New York and London, Python has teamed up with a diverse set of collaborators, including South London rapper Jawnino, Honduran-born powerhouse Isabella Lovestory, unclassifiable songwriter Organ Tapes, and NYC mainstay Physical Therapy. Across the five-track EP, Python shares bold solo songs alongside these intriguing collaborations. The everyday fades under the sway of his tropical, primal beats, arranged with a precision that conjures an otherworldly atmosphere. Skies are painted in hues only he could create, with transitions that awaken the senses, blending sophistication with vitality, chaotic yet meditative, making it impossible not to move.

His albums and mixes have earned praise from Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, Crack Magazine, and beyond, cementing his position as a boundary-pushing force in contemporary electronic music and securing his place on year-end lists worldwide.

Sausha (@sonicmaid) doesn’t just make music — she mutates it. As a DJ, she is known for her frenetic, high-energy sets, dense with texture and disparate influences. With her debut EP, she opts to turn inward, translating the kinetic energy of the booth into something more intimate and uncanny. The result is a collection of tracks best swallowed without a chaser, their bitter aftertaste becoming addictive by the second or third dose. Born in Colombia, raised in Miami, sharpened in New York’s underground, and now a core force behind Halcyon Veil’s left-field sound, her sonic world is a collision of perreo sweat, punk rage, and DJ-born instinct. Her sets, described by FACT as "a high-velocity rush of sleaze, sweat, and sirens," have cemented her as a global fixture in the experimental club scene.

@Bapari’s fourth EP, evermore, is now streaming on Halcyon Veil. The project marks a bold new chapter in the Haitian-American producer’s sonic evolution. For the first time, Bapari steps into the role of vocalist, weaving their voice into live instrumentation with raw, layered vulnerability.

Known for blurring the lines between electronic, ambient, and percussive club forms—including production on the latest FKA twigs album, Euxesua—bapari fuses a range of genres, from shoegaze to trip-hop to electronic, to craft their most personal work to date.

The choice to pick up the mic is a natural one for a club artist who’s always been fascinated by the expressive potential of vocals—from their earliest edits of pop stars and rappers like Beyoncé, Cassie, and Vanessa Carlton to collaborations with Lolahol and Kidä on their third EP, Oasis (Halcyon Veil, 2023). Evermore’s release has already taken bapari on a seven-city European tour, with debuts in Lisbon, Milan, Venice, and Athens. Now based in their hometown of Los Angeles after half a decade in New York, look out for bapari’s new live show, debuting in the U.S. for the first time at Nerve LA on June 20.

Their DJing has taken them from the warehouses of downtown L.A. and Brooklyn to clubs across Europe, Australia, Japan, and Mexico, as well as events at museums such as MOCA L.A. and the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.

A leading figure in Taiwan’s underground techno scene for over a decade, described by Resident Advisor as one of the world’s greatest techno DJs. This mix was recorded live at Tresor Klubnacht this August, his weightless form of techno glows with a natural energy, moving with aerodynamic precision.

@Diskonnected is the creative mastermind, and the principal DJ of the well-known Smoke Machine collective. Formerly a resident at Taipei’s legendary Korner, he now holds residencies at its successor Pawnshop, and at Hong Kong’s renowned 宀 Mihn.

Throughout his decade-long career, Diskonnected has been the foundational person developing, shaping, and sculpting the Smoke Machine sound and is the musical nucleus of Taiwan’s Organik Festival, one of the world’s most respected techno gatherings. A musical chameleon, he adapts his sound to each environment, generating boundless energy on the dance floor, he has toured widely across Asia, Europe, and the USA, and has played has played at prestigious clubs such as Berghain, Tresor and Nowadays.

Cotton Mouth (@c0tt0nm0uth) is a Swedish electronic music producer, multidisciplinary artist, and the art director of YEAR0001. From field recordings captured outdoors, to samples twisted beyond recognition, to intricate drum loops, each sound is refracted through a prism of time and space, reflecting flowing, uncanny, and unpredictable light, crafting deeply immersive sonic landscapes.

His debut album "Homeward Ryder" is at once icy and uplifting, it synthesizes pulsing electronic music with more blurred sonic textures, blending and deconstructing IDM, trance, and ambient into a hallucinatory journey of sound. The inspiration comes from a dream he had of a sound system composed of a swarm of small flying spherical speakers, moving freely like a flock of birds. Each speaker had its own voice, synth melodies, whispering piano, lively rhythms, they interacted and echoed one another, ultimately performing the entire piece together.

@Bitterbabe is a multidisciplinary artist and DJ who emerged from Miami’s vibrant underground scene and now based in Paris, she constructs a sonic world that feels like a digital jungle—humid, dense, and dangerously seductive. Her cutting-edge selection is a visceral fusion where wild, percussive rhythms—spanning dembow, raptor house, tribal, guaracha, and Brazilian funk—are welded onto the skeleton of bass-heavy, low-end groove club music. It is a scorching experience where disparate sounds copulate in the frequencies, creating an illusion of untamed wilderness within the club environment.

Since 2023, she has been touring globally, delivering electrifying performances at Dekmantel Festival, Horst Festival, and Panorama Bar, among others. Her genre-defying approach has also led to a collaboration with Diesel for Crack Magazine, blending music and fashion in a bold, futuristic way. 

Beyond her DJ performances, Bitter Babe hosts Obsidian Dreams, her residency show on NTS Radio, where she curates an immersive sonic experience for a global audience. 

She is working on her debut solo EP for TraTraTrax, having just finished her amazing debut live performance at Mutek Montréal. As she continues to push sonic boundaries, Bitter Babe remains a defining force in the new wave of Latin club music and beyond.

femi’s selection logic reveals a deeply introspective blend of restraint and elegance. She skillfully transforms electronic soundscapes into immersive experiences that encourage deep relaxation of both mind and body. Drawing on Stockholm’s characteristic minimalism, she subtly balances the meditative qualities of trance and ambient music. Listening to her mixes feels like standing alone on the Nordic coastline, yet instead of bracing cold winds, you are gently enveloped in the warm, mild embrace of the sun.

To trace the lineage of 1990s electronic music is to inevitably encounter the titan that is Oliver Lieb. During that golden era of boundary-pushing experimentation, Lieb—operating under a myriad of monikers including L.S.G., Spicelab, The Ambush, and Paragliders—single-handedly defined the depth and dimensionality of the European dance sound. His body of work has served as a foundational blueprint for generations of Trance, Techno, and Ambient producers, remaining an inexhaustible well of inspiration for DJs and producers to this day.

Oliver Lieb’s artistry defies the gravity of simple categorization. Eschewing cheap sentimentality, his compositions offer a profound sense of immersion born from a surgical mastery of synthesis and frequency. Each melodic thread unfolds like a beam of light stretching through time, cutting through stark, industrial atmospheres to strike the emotional core of human consciousness. It is music of grand, epic narrative—a cinema for the ears.

In this mix, Lieb takes the helm to weave together a bespoke tapestry of his career’s most iconic moments and private archival gems. Oliver began touring internationally as a live-act in 1992. In 1997, he transitioned to DJing to enjoy a more direct connection with the audience—a move that took him to some of the biggest clubs and festivals across the globe.

From Australia, Mexico, Argentina, Japan, Hong Kong, the USA, and Canada to every corner of Europe, he has consistently delivered powerful and unforgettable performances.

On the first day of the new year, we kick off 2026 with absolute sonic precision. Our 100th mix captures a live recording of Objekt (@keinobjekt) at the PURE G event in FINAL Taipei, a fitting document of an artist widely regarded as one of the most formidable of our generation. Objekt is TJ Hertz, a Berlin-based producer and DJ whose background is as multifaceted as his sound: born in Tokyo to British-American and Filipino parents, raised between Belgium and the UK, and settled in Berlin in 2009. He first turned heads with the self-released white-label 12"s Objekt #1 and #2 in 2011, before a string of defining releases on labels such as Hessle Audio and a remix for Radiohead. Tracks like “Cactus,” “Unglued,” “Agnes Demise,” and “Ganzfeld” didn’t merely shake dancefloors—they rewired them, introducing a generation of clubgoers to a sound that felt both violently disassembled and eerily controlled.

Listening to Objekt is like watching a vast structure built from nanomachines collapse and reassemble in real time. His music reveals an almost pathological obsession with spatial depth and sonic texture—precision so severe it borders on the cruel—yet within the fractured grids and skewed rhythms pulses a startling vitality. Cold digital signals are transmuted into something fiercely alive, futuristic without losing its physical impact. This approach earned early admiration from figures such as Aphex Twin and Autechre, led to a split EP with Drexciyan pioneers Dopplereffekt (with “Ganzfeld” crowned Resident Advisor’s #1 track of 2014), and produced crossover moments like the breakbeat house anthem “Theme From Q” on Objekt #4. Even his slowest record to date, Objekt #5 (2022), twists dancehall rhythms into something unmistakably his own—measured, menacing, and exacting.

That same hyper-detailed vision extends to his album work on Berlin’s PAN label. Flatland (2014) and the landmark Cocoon Crush (2018) treat the LP as a canvas for immersive, hyperreal sound worlds—synthetic simulations of splintering wood, dripping caverns, and insect wings that trigger an acoustic uncanny valley, at once familiar and alien. Pitchfork awarded Cocoon Crush an 8.0, praising it as containing “some of the most meticulously arranged compositions that dance music has ever produced,” and the project later evolved into a full-spectrum live A/V show with visual artist Ezra Miller, touring festivals such as Unsound, Atonal, and Primavera. Parallel to this, Objekt has built a fearsome reputation as a DJ: crowned Mixmag’s DJ of the Year in 2018, capable of guiding a room through half a dozen genres or plunging it into a psychedelic wormhole of self-discovery with surgical precision. His 2016 mix CD for Tresor, Kern, Vol. 3, was described by Resident Advisor as “a window into the very essence of DJing.” 

Underpinning it all is relentless quality control, a genre-agnostic ethos, and a deeply technical mind—honed not only in clubs and studios, but also through his ongoing work as an engineer at Native Instruments, developing audio and machine-learning algorithms. In Objekt’s world, rational calculation and visceral intensity are not opposites, but twin forces locked into a singular, unmistakable circuit. With the launch of his own label Kapsela, he continues to conjure dancefloor weapons that are both fiercely experimental and immaculately detailed, carving out a singular sonic circuitry where rational calculation and visceral intensity collide.
