Hailing out of Leipzig, Vincent Neumann is the epitome of a skilled jockey, clinical on the momentum and transition but by no means standoffish or emotionless. Far from that, his sets deploy the most infectious arsenal of incendiary wares, spanning the whole spectrum of electronics with panache and poise. Psychotherapist by trade, Neumann's acute understanding of the dancer's psyche sure shines bright through this helluva hectic treat. To those who've been lucky enough to attend one of his seminal ten-hour sets this will ring a most emotional bell, to those who're yet to experience it, we're certain the present mix will offer an ideal point of entry into his ever-tasteful selections and supreme knack for groove manipulation. Top-shelf material.

Virtual Underground: How has this all started for you?
Ekin: My first experience with music started when I discovered my sister’s old cassette player. She was listening to Limp Bizkit. I remember my first song was to Take a look around. Then I discovered other types of metal and started playing bass guitar. I was never into fancy solos. I always liked the idea of being the supporting pillar of the band and improved myself in every genre in bass. Even admitted to Berklee for a 5 week bass performance program. Before pandemic I was playing regularly with my band in a local metal bar called Dorock. Being the youngest member of the band and my tendency to use distortion earned me my nickname Basstard. Then in Berlin, Berghain to be precise, I was drawn to the vast world of techno and the limitless possibilities of sound design. That's when I started experimenting with my first controller.

Virtual Underground: Where do you generally draw your inspiration from?
Ekin: Music is how I express myself. I always felt myself full of emotions that I don't know how to let out. I had a turbulent childhood and preferred music over people. I was very good with maths and physics and could see the pattern in a song effortlessly unlike relationships.
They were very complicated for me and emotions were like randomized functions that ruined every equation in my head. In my sets and compositions I try to reflect my way of seeing the world and how it's cynical, confusing and dark.

Virtual Underground: Could you describe your music selection and mixing process?
Ekin: I like the productions from the 2000s and 1990s. I work as an electronics engineer and while working I dive in the vast archives and select the tunes that intrigues me. I list them according to bpm and key. In this set I acted extra ruthless and selected some hard hitting tracks from C mantle, Headless horseman and Martyn Hare and tried to build a dystopian and intimidating atmosphere.

Virtual Underground: Which software/hardware did you use for this set?
Ekin: I used Traktor Pro 2 software and Traktor S5 controller.

Virtual Underground: Could you tell us more about snatchers?
Ekin: Snatchers is our İstanbul based imprint/label/collective for electronic music and more sound disciplines. It is a place for young musicians to grow and share their works founded by @omeerata. It is a non-profit organization as we say in snatchers we are in it for the music :)

Virtual Underground:  Any next plans?
Ekin:I started learning Ableton and hopefully I will release my own tracks soon. Also I started digging records from 1990s and my ultimate goal is to expand my musical arsenal :)

Our digital only series is continuing with a release by the Budapest-based techno producer, CVRDWELL. But his name is not unknown on BRVTAL, because he already participated on our compilations before.

This time, this local master of modular synths has created a solo EP for us called Warthog, featuring two remixes by French heavyweights NN and Polish HATELOVE.

CVRDWELL is also a member of the Grid event series alongside his own label Nonverbal language. His tracks have been played by some of the biggest names in the genre such as Freddy K, Temudo,Nastia Reigel, etc. just to name a few.

Beside her venues and her music productions, Angel Karel is also an entrepreneur, actively supporting the Queer movement in France and the local techno Scene of Lyon, trying to show up women’s talent. Indeed, Angel Karel is considering Techno music as a mean of resistance, and as a way to break social codes, to change mentalities and move into a general open-minded spirit, to open the society to get always more freedom.

This spirit of liberty has brought Angel Karel to create her own collective : The Future Is Female (TFIF), which is preaching values of tolerance and freedom of the underground universe, especially during the [NO GENDER] parties. [NO GENDER] is a full artistic project, an experience while the artists and the public are entering in a symbiotic relationship; a well-known project in France, that Angel Karel would like to expand out of the borders.

Since twenty years, Electric Rescue is considered one of the made-in-France masterpieces of the electronic music but also a worldwide renowned artist. Electric Rescue has been forging a strong specificity in the electronic landscape by defending a techno neither conceding nor creating compromises, similar in this aspect to his mentor and friend Laurent Garnier. Electric Rescue is also a famous name as live artist and DJ. Since two decades, he has been traveling the world preaching the techno good word with passion and modesty. He had the opportunity to play in mythic clubs like Berghain, Tresor, The Egg. His artistic effervescence is also the result of his good Skryptöm Records management, an establishment he founded in 2006. Considered as a discrete but efficient techno activist.
