Rotations Round 21: Don Chich

This episode of the the Mindspring Selection Series features The Flying Mars that brings new remixes from Klaada, Hibernation/Kaya Project and Pangani blended with tunes from his second album “Cosmochemistry”. Mario combines Psy-Dub, Ambient, Psy-Chill, as well as Drum & Bass and Psy-Trance with flowing rhythms and deep bass lines. Unusual and alternative sounds, experimentation in rhythm, and melodic alterations: all of this is The Flying Mars project. Mario Engel, hailing from the green valleys in the middle of the Swiss Alps, was always in contact with different genres and had a good ear for many kinds of music. With his project he wants to channel all of his auditory and composing experiences into a mind-bending mix of creativity, giving his contribution to the already variegated world of electronic music.

We were over the moon to be joined by @anna-rose-wirth aka ANNX, founder of London’s epic WHOMP parties, for our last show on 1020 Radio. WHOMP is a non-profit event which has so far sponsored thirty four children from disadvantaged backgrounds to gain an education in Nepal via JMB Educational Fund. We stumbled across Zoe Pea at a little basement party in Bristol a few months back. Zoe was playing all night long with Jacob Amos, and the two of them completely blew us away. 

Since that party we’ve been tuning in to all of Zoe’s Noods and Narr Radio shows, and it wasn’t long until we were pestering her to record us a mix for the series. 

Zoe described this recording as scatty and rough round the edges, sounds about right! It’s also the perfect warm up for Zoe’s set at MOT on the 27th for our Red Haze party. We’re already getting giddy about the idea of hearing Zoe’s records on a system again, make sure you don’t miss her warming up the sweatbox that is Red Haze at MOT on the 27th !
