For our next release of 2024 Command D, the dynamic Australian artist residing on Gadigal land, returns to Pure Space with his next EP, "New Devices."

"New Devices" is a testament to resilience and innovation, instigated by the theft of his laptop and loss of production files in motion. The need to start the EP journey afresh led to a subsequent shift in his music production methods. As Command D explains, "The tracks came from the production of my first live set and are a representation of my workflow during this time. Most elements were made using a more hands-on/'live take' approach."

Opening the EP, "Swallow" captivates with its low slung bass and swirling percussion. Let the dubbed out synthesis warm you as you drift into the abyss, with the four to the floor beat keeping you grounded through the dance.

Next up is "Madman," a heady and energising cut that continues Command D’s exploration into deep dance grooves. The staunch synthesis keeps your head down until the dub chords lift you up. One fitting for sunrise or sunset, up to you really..

"CG Phrase" introduces more intensity released only as the swirling atmospheres lift. The track toys with tension as it pulls you deeper into the sonic vortex.

The EP culminates with "Heavy Clouds," a cathartic and heavenly composition that offers a moment of introspective rapture. Its ethereal melodies and soothing rhythms provide a serene contrast to the preceding tracks, closing the EP on a contemplative note.

Command D's exploration into new generation dub techno continues to evolve, with "New Devices" pushing the boundaries of his production ever-onwards. His style, characterised by sonically rich and murky tones and meticulous attention to detail, remains a hallmark of his work; an auditory journey that is both captivating and transformative. Bliss out.

Welcome to the Midgar Records takeover. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the Berlin-based label will be taking over the 909 mix series for the duration of September with a mix running each week from a label affiliate with a full lowdown on the label to accompany the final edition.

kicking things off we have the german producer and dj aa sudd taking the helm - locked in with a rolling percussive-led mix.  aa sudd is known for his more experimental psychedelic productions that leans more towards the cinematic, creating these immersive worlds to get lost in. alongside his release on midgar, aa sudd has collaborated with konduku as kondsudd on amenthia recordings and released on mirror zone as vector tracer. aa sudd also hosts the incredible hyperterranean radio on lyl radio. now on its fourth season, the show has featured guests such as agonis, faery, timnah, sybil, kia, garçon, zara and more.

ProMIX001 - Telly

Over the coming weeks, we'll be talking to different artists who are co-curating the 2024 edition of the festival. We dive into their creative process and explore their inspirations, all in honest conversations straight from the heart.

We’re very happy to share a new podcast episode, this time with Mama Snake and Martinou who open up about their upcoming and debut b2b set at our Aura next week. 

Though you might notice some contrast in their musical output, their connection to the hypnotic Nordic sound unites them, with both seeking those spine-tingling moments in music. They share personal stories about their close bond with the Draaimolen and Nous'klaer Audio teams, and how the festival's atmosphere will shape their performance. 

There were a few audio glitches, but the conversation was too heartfelt to cut.

The host of this podcast is Chanel Kadir, Draaimolen’s external PR officer who has been working with the team since 2023. Outside of that, she works across many different creative platforms within the music sphere including editorial-led platforms such as Untitled 909 and wav.world. She's also the co-curator of the F1-focused mix series G-FORCE and host of radio residencies across Netil Radio and Refuge Worldwide.

This podcast is edited and composed by Tilburg music producer Ramses3000, also known as multidisciplinary artist Yannick Verhoeven. Incorporating ambient, jazz, new age and psychedelic music, the classical and digital worlds meet in Yannick's sonic world. He has recently released his new album 'Thalamus' on Intercept Records, for which he spent three months in a monastery with the aim of composing music that helps the listener to relax and process the stimuli of everyday life.

Berlin based vinyl only dj @salty_dj is young but emerging through the woodwork rapidly. He's quickly becoming well-known for his vinyl only sets which span through the early eras of techno, house &  trance.. an overall progressive sound with a distant hint of nostalgia.

He's a resident of Southern German, Shockwerk collective and has had recent performances at Weltspiele, Tresor, Mala Junta, and Kulør’s label night at Berghain.

A deeply passionate dance music collector with his own distinctive sound, he is surely and firmly establishing himself as one to watch in the electronic dance scene.

Ambient Australian sounds are the name of today's premiere game as we welcome Mara, a key figure in Sydney's experimental scene to our platform. Her album, titled ‘At Every Corner’ is the first on fellow Aussie label, Pure Space and comes via their home listening series. Stretching through seven tracks, Mara guides the listener along a journey steeped in field recordings, snippets of past performances, spoken word and more.

Tokyo In 30,000 Steps tastefully combines several of Mara’s performances into one as the song progresses. Beginning with bird-like synth trills, and disembodied voices murmuring in the background. A feeling of energy persists and scattered attention spans fill the space. Almost as soon as it starts, a sudden change occurs, and darker, drone-like melodies emerge. Like a light and dark, contrasting moods, a call and response to symbolize the frenetic nature of today's lives.

Tokyo In 30,000 Steps and in turn, the remainder of Mara’s album will be released on September 19th.

Blush aims to help soothe the queer spectrum and focus on the well-being of the community. Queer DJs are invited to submit a mix to showcase an alternative side to their music library outside of a rave and take us on a meditative journey. ✨

“I was really happy to be asked to record this mix for Blush, especially seeing what they’ve been doing with the series. It felt like a perfect opportunity to share a style that plays a big part in my slowing down process. As I've delved deeper into understanding my own personal mental health journey, I've come to appreciate the importance of taking time out and embracing the wind down. As a DJ and partygoer, striking a balance is crucial while keeping happiness and well-being at the forefront. I wanted to create something that can help people unwind, switch off, and carve out some space amidst the ever-growing noise. Locks is a Manchester-based DJ who frequently pushes the boundaries of his taste and sound. As a resident at Blasha & Allatts' queer techno party, Frixxxion, he is known for his dynamic house and techno selections and his playful, energetic presence behind the decks. He has connected with dance floors across the UK, including Manchester’s White Hotel and D.B.A, and more recently internationally at Fuchs2 in Prague. Locks frequently appears in Manchester’s local scene, with recent sets at events such as Meat Free, Frixxxion, HØL & Tiribä. Experience a different side to Locks with this 60 minute wind-down mix.
