On February 24, 2022, at 5 am, Russian bombs began to fall on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. The perfidious invasion of Russian troops forever changed the history and face of this country. Every day, civilians and soldiers who defend their homeland are getting killed. This war is senseless and merciless. No decent person can remain indifferent. The Chitra Records label also took on a small mission of helping to rebuild Ukraine. We teamed up with ambient and neoclassical musicians from all over the world and released a two-hour compilation of calming, peaceful, and experimental ambient music. Our goal is to raise funds for the civilians of Ukraine. All proceeds from the digital sales of the compilation on Bandcamp for the first two weeks from the release date (until March 21, 2022) will be sent to the Red Cross Society of Ukraine.

ABOUT
With their roots in India and Sweden respectively, Daljit Kundi and Ludvig Cimbrelius met in the sphere of UK music culture. With Daljit growing up in Birmingham, and Ludvig having been heavily influenced by the influx of innovative electronic music from the British isles, it was in the realms of ambient jungle that the musical duo first set sail together. Their debut release ‘Timeless Travellers’ is an intergalactic voyage undertaken in the spirit of innocence and exploration that remains a hallmark of the genre, including remixes from their long time friend Simon Huxtable (Aural Imbalance) as well as the melodic genius Ulrich Schnauss. Ludvig traveled to Birmingham for the release event, performing a powerful set back-to-back with Daljit.

After some extraordinary remix work for their good friend Kirsty Hawkshaw’s Wellhead Records and several celebrated EP’s, the duo moved away from the fast paced breaks, bringing the scope of cinematic ambient into full focus. This change was also reflected in their shifting monikers, with Ludvig returning to his roots with ‘Purl’ and Daljit bringing his cinematic inner visions to life as ‘Sinius’. Their debut album ‘Oceans of Sounds’, though passed on by several record labels, was eventually released some 3 years after its completion and has subsequently become an underground classic.

Recurring struggles with record labels and with getting their music heard coincided with big life changes, ultimately leading to their next album waiting on the shelf in a near-finished state for close to 7 years. Passing along a demo to PITP eventually led to their embracing of the project, and with their loving support ‘Embryology’ is now ready to be born. In contrast to its predecessor ’Oceans of Sound’ - and as its title suggests - ‘Embryology’ is an exploration of the inner creative realms and the emotional aspects of the different stages of the creative process. As a whole, the album attempts to represent a psychic darkness that is as deeply restful as it is ripe with creative potential.

Ludvig and Daljit extend their deep gratitude to their friends at PITP for their loving support, and especially to Zach, Cynthia and James for their respective contributions in making ‘Embryology’ ready for the world.

Thaws, abysses, migrations, oases, earthquakes, displacements, wetlands, forests. Geografía Mental (Mental Geography) is an abstract journey through new territories and unexplored spaces. Devastated natural paradises, urgent flora that takes advantage of climate change to expand, uninhabitable deserts where there was once a forest, currents
that are too hot that dismantle corals and attract new species.
Mental Geography was composed by Ismael Pinkler in a free and labyrinthine way. An extensive process that required pauses and taking distance to be able to observe these complex and absorbing soundscapes from above. The pace of the work and its completion were dictated by the material itself, which in just over half an hour leaves us with the feeling of having traveled thousands of kilometers from the air.

This Ambient album of electronic and complex sounds was produced in parallel to Nocturnos, an album of piano pieces that will be released in August of this year. Both releases dialogue and complement each other and are a presentation of some of the paths that Ismael Pinkler is currently traveling as an artist. One is electronic, the other
acoustic but they share the same sonorous and compositional depth and, in some way, both are possible forms of ambient music.
If the process of Mental Geography was a solitary and labyrinthine journey, that of Nocturnos was a learning process, organized and in the company of other musicians: Ulises Conti who encouraged him to start this project and Nicolas Bacal who performed and recorded the works for piano composed by Ismael. Geografía Mental will be released at the end of May by the Argentine label Metamúsica and Nocturnos at the beginning of August by the Mexican label Static Discos. In addition, the Scottish label Huntleys &amp; Palmers included one of the piano pieces in a double vinyl
compilation scheduled for the end of the year that brings together songs in “after hour” mode by other artists such as Oklo Gabon, Jackie House and Superpitcher.

Purl & Sinius is an ambient collaboration project between UK artist Daljit Singh Kundi and Ludvig Cimbrelius, based in Sweden. 

Daljit Kundi is a film composer, sound designer, and producer of ambient music. Under the pseudonym of SINIUS, Daljit Kundi has composed music for a number of documentaries and feature films that explore the unexplained and occult.


Ludvig has been creating ambient music under the name Purl since a young age. Exploring endless forms of musical expression over the years, he has to date released over 100 albums and EPs from a vast array of artist projects. Ludvig remains active and is currently employing four aliases for his continuous musical output: Purl, Illuvia, Eternell and his given name.
