Monnom Black presents Umwelt's new studio album “Dead Eyes Society”, a stunning piece of work and the culmination of 30 years of artistic refinement. Umwelt is a truly rare underground electronic artist in the world of Techno and is without doubt one of the most important and prolific French electronic producers of a generation. A techno activist since the 90’s boasting over 50 releases to date. Throughout his career he has crafted a pure analog, unmistakable, signature sound, mixing dark, cinematic melancholy with the electro-techno grit he is so renowned for.

The sound of the album is influenced by late 90’s and early 00’s techno contrasted with an avant-garde approach to recording and sound design. Throughout the album Umwelt lays down beautiful grooves and his space techno melodies in uncompromising fashion, blended with classic synthwork and run through his famous analog outboard chains. With “Dead Eyes Society” Umwelt has crafted his most powerful techno album to date and solidified himself as an exceptional artist
and titanic figure of modern electronic music.

Picture by acclaimed photographer Cam Linh, her work has been featured across multiple Parisian exhibitions and has worked closely with Umwelt over the past years.

Good morning, and welcome to the quietest week of the year. Did you have a good holiday? Before I sign off for the year, I think I’ve got one more gem to share with you. Here's a wonderful label showcase and a reflection on this past year from a lovely independent Valencia-based imprint, Archives, curated and operated by Agustín Mena, aka Warmth. I’ve profiled plenty of its releases since its inception in 2015, and I must admit that Warmth’s Parallel (2018) has been on repeat more than others. If anything, it is only rivalled by Glow, which is his collaboration with Fionnlagh, recently released on December 8th, 2023 (you’ll hear a few tracks on this mix). Askkin's latest release, 'NECH027' marks his debut on Nastia's NECHTO. A former resident of techno nights at Faktice in Nantes, Askkin has found his footing in the Brussels techno scene. His work at Faktice, now a label co-founded with producer Exal, has garnered attention across the European scene. With collaborations alongside artists like Hadone and releases on labels such as TWND and Maison Close, Askkin continues to develop a distinctive sound. For Askkin, producing music serves as an expressive outlet, capturing a range of emotions and reflections. 'NECH027' conveys both introspective and uplifting moments, especially the track "Social Medication" exemplifying his approach to blending light and darkness while maintaining a strong groove and energy. It has been a long time since we last released a compilation – our previous one was back in 2020. For the 100th release of our label, we felt it was the perfect occasion to celebrate in great company! We invited many musicians who have collaborated with Dronarivm in the past to create joint tracks with an artist of their choice. The result is 24 uniquely diverse tracks that showcase the vast musical spectrum of the genre we generally call "Ambient."

We are proud to present Illuminations III, a compilation created as a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who has supported us over the years. This includes musicians, listeners, visual artists, photographers, designers, podcasters, reviewers, and everyone who has helped us grow and move forward.

Illuminations III features over two hours of outstanding music from leading ambient producers, and just like any true gift, it's completely free to download. Of course, if you wish, you can contribute any amount you find appropriate. All proceeds will go toward supporting and further developing our projects.

i've finally decided to share a good chunk of those songs in honor of my 25th birthday.

Growing up in this world, I found my refuge in nature. Lost among trees, resting in the sounds of rivers and brooks, forgetting about everything except the beauty of life surrounding me.

Nature reflected back something deep within myself that I had lost touch with: the perennial joy that is the foundation of existence. 

I received the name Purl for the music that was flowing through me, as a tribute to the sounds of nature that had reminded me of the unimpeded flow; the essence of life. 

My intention with Purl is to let our true nature be felt and expressed through patterns of sound.
