Flying Fish Cove is a mystical, dreamy, indie pop band from Seattle, Washington. A band that invokes the spirits of Heavenly, Teenage Fanclub, and The Pastels. Lead by Dena Zilber, the band conjures magical escapism and mythical imaginaria. Dena's accompanied on this album by lead guitarist Jake Jones, bassist Sean Canfield, and drummer Jacob Jaffe (you may know their current drummer as Chris McFarlane of Jigsaw Records). 

Flutes, violins, bells, and omnichords thread their way through the 12 song album's cosmic tapestry. Friends from near and far contribute voices to this polymorphous record including Greta Kline (of Frankie Cosmos), Jade Tcimpidis (of iji), and Lydia Brambila (singer-songwriter from Athens, GA).

about Home Time:
Home Time was conceived over the course of two years. Fragments of key songwriters Sammy and Krystal’s lives filtered through into their songs, over time these loose threads began to fit together to form a multi-coloured tapestry that became the album. Thematically, Home Time lusts for change and despairs over the lack of it. Many songs provide a window into a relationship: broken, beginning or ending. Time and Sacrifice is an exploration of helplessness while Work Out Right revels in the blossoming of unexpected love. Title track Home Time captures the lonesome echos of a dysfunctional relationship whilst Navigating Change details the disintegration of one. The last two years have been rife with challenging moments; break ups, love, death and grief. All the big things that shake you out of your cosy bubble of routine. Like snippets of diary entries, they are personal songs but give little detail to the who, what or where; instead they are firmly grounded in emotion and the subjective. 

But it’s not all serious and sombre, and that has been the strength of Swim Team, not just thematically in their music but in their approach. Whilst their worlds changed and chopped like a tumultuous sea there was always an air of irreverence instilled in the band that saw them writing sardonic, self deprecating songs as well as sunny throwaway pop, amidst the serious numbers. Life might be dealing you a difficult hand but sometimes that needs to be offset by writing some music that’s lean on the earnestness, cue Everyday Things and New Year.


Musically it’s all filtered through an imperfect DIY indie pop lens. The album is a clear move forward from their debut 6 track tape, a more rough and ready affair with simple snappy pop songs. Home Time presents a more nuanced sound for the band that sees them creating mood through interwoven guitar parts and dynamic structures whilst not forsaking the 3-minute nugget completely.  Guitars jangle soaked in reverb over characteristic group vocals, kooky lead breaks mingle with wandering bass lines over a solid bedrock of discerning drums. Slower dreamier numbers sit side by side with more up-beat ramshackle pop. Each track feeds into Home Time’s themes of introspection, frustration and realization making for an album that quite aptly captures the many facets of change.

"These eight compositions pull in a by-catch of maritime folklore; of Siren and Selkie, Seagull and engine oil slick". This is how we got introduced to the new album of Wilson Tanner. 

Wilson Tanner is the mutual project of Australian artists Andras (Andrew Wilson) and Eleventeen Eston (John Tanner). Here they release "II", a follow up to their debut full-length published in 2016. 

Through the 8 tracks, Andrew and John captured Ambient and Electronica landscapes, all recorded in 3 days, on September 2017, aboard a 1950s riverboat with weatherproof instruments. 

While listening to the LP, we instantly felt in love with the whole aesthetic and the peaceful feeling that spead throughout the tracks. "All Hands Bury the Dead" is our pickup from the release with its early 70s / late 60s electronic sound that brings back a lot of music and visual memories.

A side from the upcoming 7" by the Leicester, UK, band Dayflower! For their debut 7" single release they have paired an extensively reworked, brighter, bolder mix of 'Sweet Georgia Gazes' with the anthemic live favourite 'Daisy Age'. Tracking of the basic ensemble performances and early mixes of both songs took place at 2Fly, the studios of Sheffield based producer, Alan Smyth. This brand new mix reverts to Alan's crisp, punchy production as its core, embellished with additional vocal harmonies and atmospheric instrumentation by the band. In short, it is how 'Sweet Georgia Gazes' deserves to be heard.
