pheel. walks the line between hip-hop and electronic music with uncommon grace. It’s a thin and blurry line, for sure, but the New York-bred and Denver-based producer walks it like a tightrope. More so than in past iterations of his music, pheel’s contribution to Rusted Rhythms finds him playing with and leveraging the force of sub-bass. It’s a subtle force, as these things usually are with pheel. It’s in the nuance, the detail, and even at times in the silence that this producer truly speaks. This mix consists of all original music, runs for approximately one hour, and builds ever so gradually from beginning to end. It includes multiple collaborations with noted co-conspirators Thought Process and parkbreezy, with whom pheel is constantly working on tunes. Recline, give your head some room to breathe, and enjoy this one.

Feel Life series continues with a talk with Scottish sound psyientist Hedflux, followed by his special mix for the show.

HEDFLUX is the main music project of Scottish-born DJ/Producer Steve Young. A life-long electronicmusic enthusiast, Steve has been spinning in clubs and festivals since before he was legally allowed enter them. Starting out in the early 90s golden era of rave, he went fromold-skool breaks to nu-skool breaks via happy hardcore and drum& bass, spending all his money on turntables, mixers and vinyl while changing his DJ namem ore often than his underwear. In the early naughties he developed a naughty relationship with psychedelic trance. Inspired by it’s smooth curves, other-worldly atmospheres, and an unrivalled ability to produce kaleidoscopic visions in the 3rd eye, he endeavoured to step up his production game and synthesize the ultimate heady dancemusic hybrid: psychedelic breaks! The debut Hedflux track “Music Is MyWeapon” was released in 2008 and this set the archetypal template for the next 5 years of music, during which time he released more than 30 records and performed across the UK, Europe, Australia and America.

Rumpistol:
“Rum” is a Danish word for space, room or reverb.
For Danish composer Rumpistol, two huge driving forces behind his music are the search for beauty and the search for new sounds.

These sonic and aesthetic curiosities, which can be firmly traced back to his self-titled 2003 debut, now considered a bit of an IDM classic, have taken him to many diverse fields of the electronic landscape.

His melodic yet spaced-out music is often hard to categorize and he's capable of doing anything from pure ambient sets, over groovy midtempo sets to energetic tech sets as well. Always 100% original material and always with a distinct live element.

Rumpistol has performed his detailed sound across Europe, US, Mexico & Brazil including venues like Boiler Room UK and MUTEK Montreal.
Apart from producing under the name Rumpistol, he also creates scores for film, theatre & contemporary dance.

His music was used at the opening ceremony of the Paralympics in Rio 2016 and in 2017 he won a Danish Music Award Jazz for the album “Masala” with his band Kalaha.

Since 2003 he has run the label Rump Recordings, showcasing mainly Danish electronic artists through a release span of more than 35 releases but he has also released on the renowned Berlin-based label Project Mooncircle, and Danish Iboga Records.

Rumpistol has gained wide acknowledgement from people like John Peel (UK) and Laurent Garnier (F) to Om Unit (UK) & Tipper (UK) whom he shared stages with twice in 2017.
