There’s a certain style of music that seems to only appear in 90s video game music. What’s up with that? Well, it’s called jazz fusion and it was very big in Japan. Today, we’re going to explore a little bit of that from the SNES!

You know that really cool unique style that 16 bit soundtracks tend to have? Turns out this is actually called jazz fusion. A lot of Japanese composers drew influence from the genre, both for the game music and the occasional arrangement album. It’s a great sound, and that’s what we’re exploring today!

This track was made with the sounds of the Casio MT-45 only. No FX. It's a small keyboard with 49 keys, 8 presets and 8 rhythms with bass variation. It's identical to the MT-46 and was released in late 1982.
