To shape modern-day sound while paying homage to the old days. An ethos that has always been at the core of Frenzy as a community, event organizer, and record label. Through this second VA release, Frenzy seeks to extend its exploration of the ‘now’ and the ‘then’ with a double vinyl release with no less than 12 tracks representing their trademark sound. Buckle up - it’s time to step into the time machine of speed and light.

The vibey A-side starts with a bang by the dynamic Swiss/Italian duo Funk Assault (Chlär & Alarico) followed by uplifting, lighthearted productions by Amsterdam’s finest Undivulged and Lobster. On the B-side, local talent Levzon kicks it off with a playful melody-led groover, while Nicolas Vogler gets into the rhythmic drums and Ruiz OSC1 delivers an aquatic dub workout.

Heavyweight TWR72 introduces the C-side in full effect with a hypnotic, driving tension builder, followed by a wonky looped-out production by Hemka. Insolate is the perfect final addition to this side with a steady minimalist puncher for the in-between energy shifts. The D-side takes off at stellar speed with Cravo, raising the peak hour pressure. Jannik Abfalg channels the energy to more bright scenery as ANNĒ completes the record in style with a vocal-induced trip through early morning dancefloor freshness.

To go full circle, the release is accompanied by four digital-only bonus tracks by none other than Antic Soul, Edvvin, JSPRV35, and Hyden. Productions balance in-between stripped-down rhythms and heavy-duty rollers, showcasing what Frenzy is all about. The full digital album comes for free with the purchase of the vinyl release.

Chontane returns to Mutual Rytm with a more raw and aggressive sound than before across six powerful new tracks on his latest EP, ‘Permanent’.

Berlin-based Ukrainian DJ/producer Chontane has had a busy twelve months. Capped off by recently launching his own new TANE label, the exciting talent has been working hard to reinvent and refresh his sound in the studio. Mastering new techniques to push things to the next level, this EP and return to SHDW & Obscure Shape’s Mutual Rytm proves he has succeeded and then some. Where previous works on the likes of ARTS and Rekids were full and more melodic, here he has restricted himself and gone for a more visceral sound. Developed and built in all new ways with an innovative approach to sound design and arrangement, the tracks on the package showcase a more serious and harder-hitting side to his sound as he unveils his impactful ‘Permanent’ EP.

Opener ‘Graze’ has a monstrous feel to it, with ghoulish synth loops and industrial textures all coming on strong and heavy. As it bangs along, incendiary hi-hats and lithe pads all bring extra weight and detail. ‘Cumaru’ is a high- paced techno workout with a frenzy of synths and percussion, all making for dense layers of heavily textured sound. ‘Schima’ brings some big techno bounce in the drums and more hurried, rusty synth loops that lock you into the darkness. Showing yet another side, ‘Lauan’ is a little more paired back with pounding tribal grooves and bright synths, bringing relentless yet funk-fuelled intensity. ‘Vevis’ is the most melodic of the lot - a heavy track but with subtle optimism in the rising background synths that will surely get hands in the air.

Last of all is digital bonus ‘Makore’, a cauldron of intensity with scraping hits and relentless drums, vastly oversized hi-hats and slamming bass. This high-impact, beautifully brutal yet groove-heavy techno takes Chontane’s sound into new realms, and delivers an impressive return on a label continuing to push the genre forward.

We present you a 6-track EP by Swedish DJ and producer ‘The Miller’, who was amongst the Nordic wave of early 2000s techno pioneers like Cari Lekebusch, Adam Beyer, and Joel Mull. Coming from an era where rave and nightlife escapism were blooming, The Miller possesses a vast backlog of old-school productions that embody the true Frenzy sound. We invited him to compile an EP with old and new material, accompanied by remixes from the up-and-coming generation to truly intertwine generations of dancefloor exquisiteness. Allow yourself to surpass the linear alignment of time within the next collision of decades on Frenzy 005. It’s time to dance.

Starting out slow but steady on the A side, ‘Kartong’ gradually builds up the pressure with a playful mix of reversed phrases and thoughtful alignment of pitch levels. Tension transforms into motion as ‘Apex’ kicks in with big airy basslines and exotic drum elements that keep the early-day spirit alive. To complete the A-side, Stuttgart-based Rove Ranger presents a dub-influenced remix of Apex, accelerating the 00s story straight into the next decade. On the flip side, we go back to the old days as ‘Complied’ grabs hold of hips and minds with catchy repetition and a straightforward bassline. The Miller got us spellbound as ‘Gate’ follows up with a stripped-down steamy groover. To end the journey in full force, a powerful remix of Gate by the Greek-based ANNĒ is delivered, converting stripped down into the contrary for those big-room dancefloor moments.

For our release number 073 we go hard and strong with the mysterious combo El Jóven Prisionero. They come back home, ten releases after their Sesiones Mercurio EP. The formula is again direct to the floor with no roundabouts, strong percussive elements and direct sonic aggression provided at a high tempo rate. Tactel opens fire with an enormous bass drum spiced with stereo panned high frequencies, shuffled hats add tension to the equation while micro drones and processed textures do the rest. A perfect shot to demolish some club roofs around the globe. Second bullet is Kinki, hypnosis is the key here, starting with the whole groove from bar one, then growing in intensity with different sound layers all served in a continuous and progressive arrangement. This one is for the mind and the body. Anti Tú combines scifi vibes with heavy duty drums in an elastic tool for the skilled mixers out there, setting the pace to the next exercise, La Raya where asymmetric Fm sequences bring the funk, again over a superb drum programming workout. Digital bonus is Sin el Groove, drastically reducing the BPM rate, using Fm synths again for the sequences, closing this aerobic session in an exhausted mood. This release is going to be a limited one with 200 numbered copies pressed on red vinyl before another standart edition with different artwork and classic black wax.
