Einst kam ich in ein fernes Land,
die Sonne rosa schien,
wo Menschen vor die Kutsch' gespannt,
und schwere Pferde zieh'n.
 
Dieses wie in jenem Land,
das sah ich so noch nie,
ich kratzte mich am Kopfe gleich,
und schlug mir auf die Knie.
 
Der Regen viel nach oben nass,
die Härte wurde weich,
ein Wildschwein jagt den Jägersmann,
dem Diener dient ein Scheich.
 
Das Fleische nach Gemüse schmeckt,
Salat schmeckt hier wie Rind,
die Eltern laut im Garten spiel'n,
zur Arbeit muss das Kind.
 
Blondinen auf der Weide steh'n,
gemolken von den Küh'n,
das Feuer macht den Ofen aus,
mit Wasser kann er glüh'n.
 
Die Wale schwimmen durch die Wiese,
Katzen unter'm Meer,
der Käse jagt die Mäuse fort,
ein volles Glas bleibt leer.
 
Die Hasen hier aus Schoko sind,
der Stein aus hartem Holz,
ein Gör das etwas schlechtes tut,
das macht die Mutter stolz.
 
Das ganze mir recht lustig schien,
doch traf mich bald der Schlag,
die Toten rennen wie der Wind,
die flüchten vor dem Sarg.
 
Die Fische saßen um den Teich,
mit Angel, Schnaps und Hut,
sie saßen wirklich grußelig,
die Menschen bissen gut.
 
Ein Hammer schlägt die Nägel ein,
das Blut spritzt querfeldein,
er schlägt sie mit dem Zimmermann,
dort in den Boden rein.
 
Zwei Bäume mit der Säge steh'n,
der Fäller wird gefällt,
die Münzen zahlen Bänker ein,
verkehrt ist diese Welt.
 
Ein Affe tanzt mit Cowboyhut,
der zieht nun die Banan',
der schießt auf eine alte Frau,
der schießt ihr in den Arm.
 
Der Hummer springt nun aus dem Topf,
so rotgekocht im Dampf,
der springt zu einem Sandsack schnell,
und fordert ihn zum Kampf.
 
Doch hat der Sandsack keine Zeit,
der schlägt den Boxer weich,
der hängt an einer schweren Kette,
an der Decke bleich.
 
Der Hummer seine Zange wetzt,
er schlägt den Sack in's aus,
der liegt dort nun zerrissen matt,
dem läuft der Sand heraus.
 
Ich renne vor den Irren weg,
in's tiefste Labyrinth,
doch sehe ich den Ausgang nicht,
vielleicht bin ich auch blind.
 
Ich spüre Schmerz, ich spüre Pain,
oh Gott, mir schmerzt das Hirn,
was spielt sich denn nur in mir ab,
dort hinter meiner Stirn.
 
Ich wollte vor den Irren flieh'n,
doch nun, da sitz ich hier,

One of my favourite friends of old was a tortured crazy genius called Brett Crummett.  We shared so many eye-opening experiences together.  Sadly I found out that he's no longer with us, so here's a montage of us messing about in the early 80s.  The voice and guitar is Brett, the rest is my doing.  I only wish I'd recorded more of him, because this snippet doesn't really do him justice.

Waking Up on The Encampment

just a quick sketch that started off  being uncluttered - but then of course with a few elements added later.
the haiku struck an immediate clear audio response  in my head that remained stable throughout the actual construction process
I started with a photo Id taken of a spider web put into the image synthesiser in metasynth (U & I software) and played back with microtonal sine waves, a sampled triangle and traditional orchestral samples
layers were then sequenced in logic and added mini soundscape of waking up to a rooster in the distance and native birds  recorded in bush and farmland near where I live.

Trying to recreate the ongoing sillyness of JF's handmade friends along with the still urban night-time. I've mainly used field recordings with a software step sequencer and a few soundfonts.

... De.Chronos means both exploration of Time, both deconstruction of Time. Into the pieces are perceived dynamics interrupted , regular pulses, unstable speeds, static timbres. So, here's the Timelines Deconstruction and Recomposition, the Disintegration of metronomic regularity, brought back to primary patterns.
The system is often disturbed or unhooked, or left free to express almost imperfect biological life. The phrasing is always traceable to harmonic conceptions, in the meaning of "Melodies of timbres" (A.Schoenberg).
The sound-colors are designed to "Expressionist" mode, therefore often violent, bright, lacerated. The Granular Synthesis allows the creation of intense, primordial, ancestral atmospheres. Granules pulverize the time pulse. Chronos is vaporized. Then it  finds himself.
... De.Chronos significa sia esplorazione del Tempo, sia de-costruzione del Tempo. Nei brani si percepiscono dinamicità interrotte, pulsazioni regolari, velocità precarie, staticità timbriche. Quindi ecco la Decostruzione e Ricomposizione delle linee temporali, la Disgregazione della regolarità metronomica, poi ricondotta a schemi primari.
Il sistema risulta spesso disturbato, svincolato, oppure lasciato libero di esprimere vita quasi biologica imperfetta. Il fraseggio è sempre riconducibile a concezioni armoniche, nel significato di “Armonie di timbri” (A.Schoenberg).
Il colori dei suoni sono concepiti in modo “Espressionistico”, spesso violenti, accesi, lacerati. La Syntesi Granulare permette la creazione di atmosfere intense, primordiali, ancestrali. I Granuli polverizzano le pulsazioni, e Chronos si vaporizza. Poi ritrova se stesso.

this project emerged from the ashes of the british EU referendum vote. the lies and nastiness and hatred were really getting to me. it was an important realization for me that i don't have to be any part of it: the collaboration here with WÜST represents a global connection where borders are irrelevant and where the music comes from field recordings from across the globe.

all tracks are based on field recordings made in thailand between the 
years 2014 and 2016,also the pictures. made in several towns and 
country sides of the district phang nga,thailand by WÜST.

This week's Junto is to write a piece of music from your failed attempt at getting the gig to write the Bladerunner 2 soundtrack. 
I am very short of time this week, so I patched up something interesting in a hurry (this took less than an hour from a blank, unpatched modular!), borrowing little hints here and there from the original soundtrack as to what notes to play and what sort of sounds to go for.  No idea what the sequel will be like, so I imagined a city, much like the opening of the first film, but populated entirely by replicants... 

As usual, 100% live straight recording, no overdubs.

Replicant Nation (Disquiet0243)

I was wanting to go with the fail idea. I love Blade Runner but it isn't even my favorite Ridley Scott movie, Alien is. The number one fail of the original is Harrison Ford's voice over. I downloaded a collection of the bad voiceovers and was listening to him and the "n-word" popped up. My initial reaction was -well I have to edit that shit out- but I got to thinking about the themes of the movies and the "skin job" dehumanization of what is basically a human even if it is an android. I decided I would do a 180 and go the other direction with it. I hope I don't offend anybody but sometimes you have to go with things even if they make you somewhat uncomfortable. I knew I wanted to use the CS-80 soft synth so I loaded Camptown Races into it. I hope I have made my intentions clear and even though my head is shaved, I am NOT a skinhead. I just lost all my hair spinning on my head breakdancing in the 80's.

Skin Job Races N-WORD WARNING (disquiet0243)

Step 1: As you now know, Jóhann Jóhannsson was selected to score Blade Runner 2. The news means, among other things, that you didn’t get the gig. Please reconcile yourself with this.

Step 2: Please share your favorite track from the audition tape you sent to Ridley Scott."

On the old Blade Runner OST there was this subtle mix of orchestra and synths, but I don't really think Blade Runner 2 is going to be subtle, so there's a mix of that here but it's obnoxious. I also intended this track for Isidore because I thought like he got the short end of the stick in both the movie and book versions and was hoping he'd have a better time in BR2 (and if he's just dead in the movie version, well, maybe that IS a better time (I don't have high hopes)). 
The inspiration behind it is likely the end titles from the original soundtrack, which was always my fave piece from that entire event. 
Also there's like six synths here. Is it overkill? I dunno, Deckard had to kill six replicants the first time around. Some do stabs, some dance around in harmony, others stay consistent throughout, some were just a repeating bassline. Tried to give them personalities like the replicants.

"At first there was a remix:
For the first part of our Split Series „Hamburg“ the Hamburg based Band Me Succeeds made a remake of Arp Auberts „Actress“. In Return Arp Aubert, consisting of Mirau Label founder Stephan Lorenz, made a beautiful, dreamy remix for Me Succeeds „Riemerling“. Now the remixing goes on in full album length: After their latest long player „Rongorongo“ from 2011, which Me Succeeds released on their own imprint isawmusic, the band will return on Ki Records with a remix album. Eleven friends were invited to put their hands on the album’s tracks and give their interpretation. Besides a whole lot of danceable tracks you will also find some broken beats and spherical electronica here, which makes this release fit in perfectly in the Ki catalogue. Under the motto „never change a running system“ of course Arp Aubert once again had his hands on one of the tracks, turning „Rongorongo“ into a driving techno track which is underlined by the emotional vocals of lead-singer Mohna and beautiful melodies making this remix perfect for the early hours on the dancefloor. The Berlin based producer and DJ Iron Curtis gives the original of “Seventeen” a dubby note that is definitely special as he uses many vintage synthesizers-sounds and broken pieces of the original vocals to make this remix one of the strongest on this album. The last remix on the album was done by Greek musician Chronik, who turns „Books“ into a hymn with twisted rhythm and broken beats. It’s the perfect ending reminding us a lot of the recently on Ki released „Saints“ by Monokle. Apart from that, a few more great producers such as Tilmann Tausendfreund, Showing Off The Bling Bling, Christian Löffler, On Stop Off, My First Trumpet, Bug Lover and Suburb contributed to this Rongosium."
