Qdup's latest disco fueled single 'Electric Tonight' gets re-imagined in 3 different styles by top notch artists. Rory Hoy, Turnstyle and Holmes Ives each put their own touch on the single and give us 3 new remixes that will be lighting up dancefloors and shaking butts world wide.

First up and making his Fort Knox Recordings debut is UK's own Rory Hoy. Rory has 5 critically acclaimed albums under his belt on Freddy Fresh's Howlin' Records label and numerous singles, EPs, remixes and collaborations on various labels worldwide. And he literally wrote the book on Big Beat with his 2018 publication 'The Little Big Beat Book' which explores one of our favorite 90's genres. Rory delivers a super vibey mid-tempo breaks remix that's sure to keep the heads nodding and bodies' moving. Groovy chords and a classic sounding breakbeat lead the way and a heavy bassline drop elevates the energy to flex any soundsystem. 

Up next is Turnstyle, a new moniker for the artist formerly known as Bobby C Sound TV, who remixed Fort Knox Five and many more. His remix of Electric Tonight takes us on a journey that feels like neon drenched 80's Synth Wave with modern heavy-hitting dancefloor production sensibility. Ominous arpeggiated synth lines and a pulsating bassline and beat drive the vibe of the track playing off the vibe of Qdup's original mix while pushing the tempo and energy up. This one makes us feel like getting in a Delorian and gunning it to 88mph to go back in time!

Rounding out the remixes is long time collaborator and Fort Knox Recordings mastering engineer, Holmes Ives. Over the years Ives has established himself as one of D.C.'s premiere electronic music producers with over 50 singles and 11 albums spread over various label including Yoshitoshi, Bedrock, Caffeine, Six Degrees, Shinichi and more. Holmes puts his stamp on Electric Tonight with a groover of a remix. complete with a 4-to-the-floor beat, a tight bassline and relentless rhythm lay the foundation as vocal chops weave through the beat to great musical effect. After releasing the Let’s Go EP on Fort Knox Recordings last year, Qdup returns with a funky collection of tunes featuring some amazing vocalists from Austin, Texas. While Qdup was in Austin DJ’ing at the Art Outside Festival, he linked up with some of Austin’s finest MC’s and the result is the Lone Star EP. The funk flows deep in both Austin and DC and it shows on this strong release.

MC’s Tee Double and Tigre Liu channel P-funk and deliver booty shaking party rhymes to great effect on “Mothership Calling”. This tune is will heat up the party with laser effects flying, funky synth bass chops and a talk-box laden message from the Mothership to get you on the dance floor. This tune is will heat up the party with laser effects flying and funky synth bass chops laying the groove. “Mothership Calling” is remixed by Ursula1000 from NYC, who gives the track a running midtempo 4/4 Nu-Disco vibe with hints of techno, which sits beautifully with the funk laden party lyrics. “Electro Funk Boogie” is just that, a funk laced electro-funk track with Bavu Blakes gracing the mic over a slinky, boogie bassline. Miami’s quickly rising producer Warp 9 remixes “Electro Funk Boogie” with his additional talk-box vocals and glitched out funk treatment. Closing out the release, Germany’s Funkanomics put their twist on “Electro Funk Boogie”. With an infectious clav riff reminiscent of Stevie Wonder and the Funkos signature sub bass and pumped up beats, their remix is sure to pack dance floors and keep heads nodding.

Qdup and Fort Knox Five have road tested these tunes to assure their dance floor potency at festivals and clubs. The Lone Star EP comes locked and loaded to light up the dance floor. Qdup's latest single kicks off 2024 on the wild side along with the multi-talented Rapper, B-Girl, and Radio Personality from SoCal, Awoke. When we last heard these two collaborate back in 2018 with 'Sonic Drop', it left dance floors worldwide begging for more and garnered a place on Junodownload's annual Best of Breakbeat list. Washington, DC’s funky music ambassador Qdup returns to Fort Knox Recordings after his 2014 release, the Lone Star EP. The Warp 9 remix of “Electro Funk Boogie feat Bavu Blakes” was Mixmag’s October 2014 “Breaks Tune of the Month”. This time Qdup brings a heater of a single featuring the vocal styling’s of Mustafa Akbar. Rory Hoy feat. Ashley Slater - Gettin' Home (Qdup Remix)  Pre.cm

It’s apparent how much fun Qdup and EVeryman had while writing the lyrics for Joyride. They were on tour driving between gigs and pulled inspiration for being on a Joyride to the party. For these remixes, Qdup commissioned a few good friends to hop in the whip and reimagine the ride. First up is old friend and fellow Washington, DC native Wes Smith who relocated to San Diego, CA. Rusty Cravers is the new Future House side project of Vancouver’s Wood n Soo who are good friends from western Canada and part of the Danio Management family.

You may know Wes Smith from his releases on Punks Music and his own Juice Recordings imprint, Wes has really made a name for himself in recent years with his remixes and original production. This is the second Wes Smith Remix on Fort Knox Recordings, and his musical diversity shines well on this remix as he pumps up the tempo to a Jacking Funky House vibe. Wes Smith let EVeryman’s lyrics lead the track and drops a huge 808 fueled breaks breakdown in the middle which is sure to set the dance floor ablaze!

Rusty Cravers push the tempo up as well and remixed Joyride into a bass-driven Future House banger destined to wreck dance floors worldwide. Laden with infectious dark keyboard leads and more dubbed out vocals let their clean production style come through. Huge horn stabs push a driving house beat and a devastating sub bass that can flex any sound system set the tone for their trip to the party!

Earlier this spring, Qdup released the funky dance-floor Hip-Hop Breaks anthem “Get Up featuring Jerome Joyce”, and now the tune has been remixed by both All Good Funk Alliance and Friskie Business. Qdup goes way back with AGFA, having collaborated on songs, remixes and many shows together over the years. Friskie Business is another talented producer that came out of the Washington, DC area rave scene and has now relocated to Los Angeles, CA. 

All Good Funk Alliance is no stranger to Fort Knox Recordings, having released their full-length “Jacks of All Trades” album, singles and multiple remixes with the label. They’ve also consistently released tunes with many well-respected Funky Breaks, House and Hip Hop imprints including their own Super Hi-Fi Recordings over the years. Their DC roots shine through with swung out Go-go style percussion and driving beats while a smooth bass line, hi-fi keyboard and lush pads set the mood for the dance floor.

Travis Payne aka Friskie Business has been pushing funky dance floor sounds for almost two decades. He’s part of the Burning Man camp Charlie Unicorns Crew along side west coast party rockers DJ Dan & Diva Danielle. They’re known for throwing all out dance parties on their unicorn art car. Friskie flips up the beat to a stomping 4/4 flavored glitch-hop tune. A menacing bass line and siren synth stabs set the tone and compliment Jerome Joyce’s party raps which is sure to get booty stomping results every time!

Qdup returns to Fort Knox Recordings with a new single first imagined on the Playa at Burning Man. During his first trip to Black Rock City Qdup performed a special hip-hop showcase at Funky Town and invited MC’s to rock his set and bring the cypher to the desert. San Francisco b-girl and Hip-Hop aficionado Awoke was one of the MC’s that appeared out of the dust and blessed the mic that afternoon and caught the ears of the crowd, inspiring this collaboration. “Sonic Drop” captures the fun of that impromptu Hip-Hop jam in the desert. This tune pops and locks from start to finish, with an infectious vibe that invites the party to get down on the dancefloor like Awoke and Qdup did that day!
The track is all about Awoke’s flow as she says “Feel it deep inside and when the DJ starts to vibe, I’ll be the first one in line, straight Salt-N-Pepa pushin’.” It’s time to push it real good, so get on the dancefloor and push it when the DJ drops this cut! From the creative mind of Qdup, his new Party Platters series is serving up hot, fresh artisan beats for the dance floor. We’ve been cooking it all up with soul, so leave any bad vibes a preconceived notions of tempos and genres behind and dig into the delicious flavor.

Qdup is flying high into 2019 after continuing his string of original singles on Washington, DC’s Fort Knox Recordings. He also found himself engineering and producing a Vocal Sample Pack along with conscious party MC EVeryman that was released earlier in 2019 with Canada’s Black Octopus Sound. His DJ touring kept him busy last year including DJ sets at Shamhala Music Festival & Bass Coast (Four Deck Set with Fort Knox Five), Motion Notion and Joshua Tree Music Festival (DJ Performance with EVeryman). 2019 looks to be a good year as Qdup has been hard at work cooking up new beats to bring to you. 

First up for Party Platters Vol. 1, “Love Rap Thang” is a strong Disco Break that is like a 70’s Soul Train Line and a classic Hip Hop MC got together and made a love child. Qdup’s beats and bass marry the classic party rap vibe with new school production prowess that really hits a sound system right. This will get the party moving! As the name suggests, “Funk Over Here” has all the funk in the trunk to make the bass bins bump. It’s infectious bass line and call and response vocal chants will have the dance floor saying “Hell Yeah”. Pure vibes!
