About Tone Abstract:
Hailing from the Central Valley of California and originally from the East Los Angeles area Tony aka Tone Abstract was exposed to amazing Street Culture. At an early age Tone had a huge interest in Hip Hop and began to participate in Dj’ing , Break Dancing and Graffiti Art. Ultimately Music would become his forte which led him to Practice the Art of Beat Matching , Scratching and many Turntable Tricks making him one of the Best Turntable Technicians that came from the area. By the age of 16, thanks to his already developing Network he was given the opportunity to Perform for several hundred People. In not much more time Tone was exposed to his First Electronic Music Event and he instantly fell in Love with the Music, the Vibe and the amazing People that participated. After years of playing Music for the Masses Tone’s interest was geared towards production, he wanted to make the Music he played. He took a very long break from Performing and has been practicing the art of Music Engineering & Production. He began Producing the sound that inspired him originally. That amazing Bass sound from the State of Florida that has been in his heart and is what flows out naturally, it’s not a regurgitation it’s what he listened to for years and inspired him to get into Music in the first place. Now with Releases on Major Labels both Domestic and Abroad Tone’s geared for growth and the Future is looking bright.

Flex’s old school party rocking lyrics on “Rock On It” are the perfect compliment to Qdup’s G-Funk meets Future Go-Go style beat. “Let’s Go” keeps the party vibe going with a funky, bass heavy hip-hop cut with clever rhymes and an infectious hook that’s sure to get people moving. Greek remixer Basement Freaks slowed down the tempo and turned up the horn-laden funk beats of “Rock On It”. Nynfus Corporation from Budapest, Hungary turn “Let’s Go” into a funky bass driven mid-tempo breaks banger. Texas’ own funky breaks master DJ Love pumps up the tempo on his remix of “Let’s Go” turning it into a head nodding funk workout.

The EP comes DJ friendly and ready to rock with full vocal and instrumental mixes on all of the tracks. As a veteran DJ himself, Qdup knows how to make beats for the dancefloor and this release has them all, from breaks and funk to hip-hop and future go-go, its all here.

STICK2BREAKS - After

Last Halloween I had this crazy idea for track: the Doctor Who theme. You know, that whirly swirly whoopy wobble that kicks off the longest running show on television. After a few days of production, I realized that it needed a hip hop vocal to make it work. Lo and behold, I discovered that someone had already made the perfect rap. But first, an important honorarium.

The critical element of this track is the original theme song melody. How the original was designed and performed was an absolute labor of love by Delia Derbyshire, and worth the Wikipedia page read. Here, I chose to support the original melody with two modern synths.

Jason Brown is Qdup, and has been making dance floors groove and butts move worldwide for over a decade. They’ve had a busy schedule with tours up on both coasts of the states, Colorado and Montana & have frequented Canada’s west coast BC and Alberta. Their touring included a festival run with Canadian favorite’s Shambhala (Salmo, Canada) & BassCoast (Merrit, Canada) and adding events like Sonic Bloom (CO), Northern Nights (CA, USA) and Burning Man (NV, USA). 
When not on tour, Qdup has played regularly at DC hot spots like Eighteenth Street Lounge, U-Street Music hall and Tropicalia where he along with Fort Knox Five have held their residency “Sao Funky” for 4 years. Qdup has also made the official promotional mix tapes for The DC Funk Parade 3 years running, further solidifying himself as one of DC’s most sought after party rockers. Since relocated to Los Angeles, Qdup has continued this trend frequently playing at some of LA’s best underground warehouse and festival venues.
