Minor Forms - Shadows VIP [Premiere]

Austrian imprint Deep Within Recordings introduces three new artists to their roster alongside a familiar face in their latest VA EP.

DOt. kicks off the EP with Killing Me. Having already released on Deep Within on the label’s first VA, DOt. continues to develop his characteristic take on the minimal drum and bass sound. Cosmic pads, filtered synth arpeggios, and an airy vocal line create a captivating and soulful-yet-moody atmosphere throughout the duration of the track.

Ferice makes his label debut with Elusive. Crisp drums, a syncopated and chromatic analogue bassline, and gradually evolving pads make for a smooth and rewarding listening experience which demonstrates that the musicality and weight of a tune are never mutually exclusive.

The penultimate track comes courtesy of clÜ, a producer who gravitates towards the realms of liquid drum and bass. In keeping with the general theme of this EP, Primrose features jazz-tinged basslines, reverb-laden vocals, and snappy drums which blur the boundary between organic and mechanical sounds.

Crook - Holding Back

ZeroZero return to Flexout after their smash hit single with MC GQ last year. ‘Too Much Acid’ is the duo’s debut EP on Flexout and features man of the moment Teej on remix duties for their cult classic that has since been championed by Laurent Garnier and features on a very special forthcoming VA in conjunction with Fabric. The 2 original solo tracks on the EP come in the form of ‘Confidence’ and ‘Too Much Acid’ both tracks have been supported by the biggest names in Drum & Bass including Break, QZB, Simula and Alix Perez. Molecular - Lost World [Premiere]

Quadrant used to have a very outdated bio, so he wrote this one. Since the last update, this Seattle native has risen to the top of the stateside DnB scene, alongside his partner (in production, DJing, and life), Iris. Together they have toured (some parts of) the world, released tens of mixes, completed a debut LP with their good friend Kid Hops entitled “206”, and released EPs and collabs with some of their favorite people in the entire world (names your friends have probably heard of, like Klute, Total Science, DLR, Ulterior Motive, and Ant TC1). If your friends still aren’t convinced, make sure to mention their signature blend of deep but techy rolling vibes– only the good stuff, the stuff that makes you remember how good Drum and Bass can be. If that doesn’t work, tell them that 2008 will be Quadrant’s best year yet.
