DJ Tom Larson:
Tom was born on October 24, 1979 in Sonneberg. At the age of 16 he discovered his love for electronic music. At that time he was inspired by music sets of Richie Hawtin, Sven Väth, Karotte and many other artists.He also had a big interest in spinning records.

Tom began to create Mixes... He put on records in many reputable locations in his homeland and at numerous radio stations like Sputnik Radio for example. He convinced lots of parties with his ingenious DJ Skills and also wants to convince you!

Quadrant Soundscape presents In Focus 003 

  The 3rd instalment of our In:Focus Series hones in on one of our favourite European Dub Techno labels …. The ever consistent , ever exciting forward thinking Danish stable that is … Echocord.

Founded in 2001 in Copenhagen, Denmark by the Danish DJ & Clubowner Kenneth Christiansen, Echocord has gone from strength to strength pushing early music from some of today highly established artists. 

  “ It all started when Kenneth in the beginning of 2002 met Mikkel Meldgaard aka Mikkel Metal in a small recordshop where Kenneth was working. Kenneth has been thinking about starting a label for a while at that time, and when he heard the tracks from Mikkel he knew it was time. 

  Already at that time he knew some of the people at Kompakt, so it was the place to try to get a distribution deal. Wolfgang & Michael liked it a lot so this was the beginning of an already now long relationship. A lot of things have happened since, many new artists has been signed. The music has always been circling around Dub Music. From Electronica-Dub to Dub-Techno and House. Kenneth has always been very inspired from what came out of Berlin and the Hardwax Camp like Basic Channel, Chain Reaction & the DIN label, which you can hear on the label and in his dj-sets.

 Echocord Colour was founded in 2008 as the sublabel of Echocord Records.

 Kenneth had been thinking about starting a second label for a long time, mostly because he had received so many good demoes, which he wants to release, but also because he wants to have a label where music for the dancefloor is in focus. It can be Dub-Techno it can be Detroit-Techno or House or even Dubstep, but all quality music for the dancefloor. ”

  As we’ve found with our previous In:Focus mixes the problem is never finding the music, its selecting just a few tracks from the Vast Discography available, but we’re never going to complain about that.   We thought this would be a great time to drop this mix as Echocord has just recently released they’re 20 year anniversary compilation, featuring artists old and new, so what better time to put them under the spotlight.

  Here’s to the next 20 years Echocord.

Our second journey into the frontier is curated and mixed by legendary artist and head of one of the most celebrated Dub Techno labels on the planet - Kenneth Christiansen.

Kenneth has been djing all over Europe the last 2 decades, playing clubs like Fabric, Berghain, Tresor,  and at Festivals like Sonar, ADE & Dimension. Running the 3 labels Echocord, Echocord Colour, Echo Echo and Pattern Repeat with Resoe. 

A true Pillar of the Dub Techno Scene, someone who has been pushing the boundaries of the genre through his label and his DJ sets for many years. It's an honour to have Kenneth showcase his sound for us.

They also run a series of live events at the famous Eastern Bloc Records. The Dub Explorations Series itself has well surpassed 130 shows, all at least 3 hours in length which is an insight into the dedication they have for hunting underground Dub Techno and Deeper Detroit Tunes to showcase and promote. They have also increased their output with 2 new mix series'. Firstly, 'The Quadrasphere' where many genres are showcased by some very talented artists, and 'The Frontier', which is an invite only mix show.
