On the first Friday in October TRACE welcomed Dub Techno connoisseur Andy Green of Verdant Recordings to Brunswick Cellars.

Here is the full 5 hour set, taking you through the gears. 

This wasn't your usual warm up/ guest Dj scenario, with Andy and Chris going back to back on 3 tracks each for a good few hours. 

Which hours who knows, but it's a quality journey from start to finish.

Quadrant Soundscape presents In Focus 008

The 8th instalment of our In:Focus Series goes back to where it all began. The Originators, the start of the sound we all love - Its Mark & Moritz, it's Basic Channel. 

There’s not a lot we can write that hasn’t already been written about this legendary duo and record label. Its quite hard to fathom how much innovation and quality came out of Berlin in such a small space of time, but over the course of 2/3 years Mark and Moritz invented a genre and wrote there names into the history books.   

What we have presented here isn’t a complete body of their work but it covers the majority of their output , with most of the ‘Big Hitters’ featured. We Chose to focus specifically on the releases as Basic Channel / Cyrus / Quadrant, however there is much more to explore, with their output as Maurizio, Rhythm&Sound, Round One - Five. 

Many have tried imitating, none have succeeded. This is Basic Channel

Our fourth journey around the sonic sphere is captained by one of our favourite producers and Dj's , based in San Francisco but originating from Scotland, we are proud to present one of the most consistent and hard working producers in the game , It's Federsen.

Federsen, real name Chris Kelly, has been releasing music for the last 15 years and he has become a true master of Dub infused minimalism. He has crafted and moulded his own sound with every release he puts out. You know when you hear a Federsen track. Solid kicks and baselines, combined with beautiful sprinklings of crisp, rich percussion and a warm analog feel, but most importantly … Groove.   

His deep, dubby, and groovy records have seen releases on the likes of ETUI, Avant Roots, Lempuyang, Mixcult, Modernism, Ohm Series, Greyscale. All The big hitters, as well as his own label, Fifth Interval. 

  His most recent project is his new Label Alt Dub. With 2 releases now under his belt the future looks great for the label. The first release, a split EP with Hidden Sequence is one that been on heavy rotation in the Dub Explorations studio. For the second release he teams up with the legendary Stephen Hitchell aka Cv313 in a true meeting of Detroit and San Fran. Both artists rework each others tracks and the results are clear for all to hear.   

We are honoured to be able to host Chris on our platform again and look forward to seeing where he goes next and what’s to come from Alt Dub.

Mike got given a cd-rom of virtual DJ back in 2009 and since then has put up a lot of electronic music mixes, all of which can be listened to for free via various platforms. He has played with some well known artists as well most of his local community. ''Dub Techno for me is one of the best starting points / sounds for most of my DJ sets I play a wide variety of dance music and I find this one of the most relaxing and hypnotic vibes to create an atmosphere suitable for dancing and relaxing in this mix I have tried to get both movement and relaxation achieved''. TM Shuffle is more than just a name in the international dub techno scene. The Finnish producer, DJ, and head of VUO Records has a rare talent for distilling the essence of depth, space, and rhythm into his productions. His music is infused with a hypnotic pulse that doesn’t shout loudly but tells stories subtly – of snow-covered landscapes, quiet nights, and an unwavering love for electronic music. What sets TM Shuffle apart is his uncompromising dedication to reduction. His musical philosophy is not about quantity but quality: less is more. By deliberately limiting himself, he becomes more creative – digging deep, searching intentionally for the right sound, and developing a distinct musical signature. This principle is evident not only in his productions but also in his thoughtfully crafted, driving DJ sets.

He shares this passion off stage as well: as the label head of VUO Records, he provides a platform for other artists who share his vision of dub techno – raw, organic, and timeless.

In a personal conversation with Andre Kronert, TM Shuffle offers insight into his creative workflow and studio philosophy. In a world of unlimited possibilities, he consciously relies on a minimalist setup: turntables, a mixer, a few select synthesizers, drum machines, and a computer for sequencing. We observe from a distance, looking through windows illuminated from within—yellow squares breaking into the night. 

We see a dinner table set for a meal, an empty chair, a man stretching, and a woman laughing on the phone. These moments are not meant for us; they are offered freely in the quiet theatre of the evening. As we pass, we collect these fragments: gestures, glows, and stillness. 

Dub techno unfolds similarly—observing without intruding, echoing lives we'll never truly understand. Each track serves as a pane of glass, with each sound reflecting the rhythm of someone else's life.

Bio/
I create experimental underground sound as an electronic musician, producer, and remixer, focusing primarily on Dub Techno, Ambient, and Deep genres. I have collaborated with various labels, including Crossfade Sounds, ECOUL SND, Slope Point, Superordinate Dub Waves, Secret Domain, Echoshapes, Hello Strange, Proton Radio, Pirahna Siberia Dub, Liberty Rhythm, Seesaw Records, and Techenie. My sound features a unique approach to detail, creating a distinctive and recognisable style influenced by various musical genres. "Cosmic vibrations combine with modern electronic rhythms, drawing you into a deep atmospheric sound, where hypnotic patterns infinitely envelop and transport you into free space."
