Sherø, originally from Antwerp and now based in Berlin, channels the nostalgic essence of 90s house, rave, jackin', breakbeats, acid, Detroit and Chicago house, and new beat through a sensual, energetic, and melancholic soulful twist. After more than 30 years of spinning and producing under pseudonyms Stephanie, D’Stephanie, and later D’Steph, with releases on renowned labels such as Sonar Kollektiv, Chez, Jalapeno, and others, she is also the founder of the queer record label KlubKid Records and held a six-year residency at Brenn(Berlin) until September 2023. As one of Berlin's quintessential DJs, she regularly performs at renowned venues like Berghain/Panorama Bar, Gegen, Horse Meat Disco, Renate, Else, Tresor, Watergate, Homodrop, Aeden, Æve, Fitzroy, Kake, Cocktail d’Amore, Fiese Remise, RSO, Golosa, and Sweat. Sherø has also graced the stages of festivals such as Garbicz, Whole, Pukkelpop, 10 Days Off, From Disco to Disco, Full Circle, and Queerport.

In her music productions, Sherø aims to captivate the mind, body, and soul with deep dives into old skool house, rave, new beat, and breakbeat, all set against a sexy and funky backdrop.

We are happy to introduce Michael Ellis for our next SYLPCAST and welcome one of Freiburgs finest selectors to the series:

Michael Ellis started out spinning records at small, self-organised functions in the forests surrounding his hometown, Freiburg. Ellis’ DJ-sets are always enriched with surprising finds from record stores from near and far, always in line with his love for House and Disco tracks that are both uplifting and spiritual, percussive and pumping, mostly vocal and always slamming. His House-Music-only series Ready or Not and its newest offsprings, the Sunday House Dance Jams and Roller Discos, are fostering the connection between Dance- and Club-Culture in the area. In 2023 he joined forces with Klingberg, co-founder of the label Reach Another Systems. Together, they penned the idea for their love child called Brighter Days.

Quadratschulz returns to Clone / Dub Recordings with a sonic ode to Tokyo—six beautifully crafted tracks inspired by the neon-lit nights and electric pulse of the city.

Drawing from the spirit of Japanese electronics, arcade culture, and city pop nostalgia, he blends crisp rhythms with emotive melodies and playful synth work. It’s a journey through dreamy downtowns and rain-soaked alleyways, full of warmth, precision, and imagination.

Of course, Japanese electronics play a key role—led by the unmistakable playful sound of the Roland TB-303 weaving through the tracks like a main character.

Three years ago, we called Suzi Ecto “an expansive piece of art” in which Call Super created a “sonic world inspired and shaped by … club music”. Since his debut album, he’s released half a dozen 12”s, also going by Ondo Fudd and Elmo Crumb as well as sharing one record with Shanti Celeste and collaborating on another with Beatrice Dillon. And then there’s the small matter of his Fabric CD, which raced between music from friends and contemporaries, long-standing influences and his own productions. Earlier this month he released Suzi Ecto’s follow-up, Arpo, on Houndstooth – a record that feels more insular than its predecessor, yet comfortably so. Once again Call Super trades in beautifully rendered scenes embellished by the virtuoso clarinet of his father, David Seaton. Ideas are teased before they return fully expanded, a “journey” of a record that folds back in on itself. If we were the types to make lists you can be sure it’d be near the top for this year.

Having started the year with the aforementioned Fabric mix, he’s finishing 2017 with the latest entry to our series of Truancy Volumes. An 85-minute mix, it covers extensive ground. Not only does it run through strands of house and techno like your mind runs through rooms in a dream, it features Call Super at his most playful, exercising fast cuts, volume chops and breathtaking acapella transitions. You can tell that he’s enjoying every minute.
