In 2005 Quincy Jointz, an established electronic-funk DJ from Germany, took over the reigns of the Lime Sorbet radio program, hosted by the now defunct Florida downtempo label Citrona Records. Under his tutelage the Lime Sorbet show has become one of the leading mixshows for downtempo, synthesized funk, and boogie sounds. Found online at citrona.net/sorbet.htm the Lime Sorbet show gives its listeners a weekly dose of latest and hottest tunes in the worlds of nu-boogie, downtempo, European hip hop, and funk-breaks. Quincy Jointz has proven himself an astute selector, expertly sifting through mountains of music to find the funkiest bits. Eighth Dimension has long been a fan of the Lime Sorbet show and Quincy Jointz' discerning musical taste so it's natural that this provides the inspiration for the labels' latest compilation: Quincy Jointz presents Lime Sorbet.

Quincy Jointz himself has had a bit of success in the funk-breaks field. Known to his friends and family as Dirk Schafer, Quincy Jointz has produced numerous releases and remixes for the likes of Eighteenth Street Lounge, Funk Weapons, Aniligital, and Timewarp Music. As a DJ he can be found laying down beats in clubs throughout Europe as well as his home base in Freiberg, Germany. This Lime Sorbet compilation not only represents the sound of Quincy Jointz' radio program but also his multi-faceted production output. From his archive of recordings Quincy Jointz presented Eighth Dimension with unreleased remixes and original tracks which formed the basis of the selection. Remixes for Basement Freaks and Omegaman as well as a couple original tracks represent Quincy Jointz in the studio within the set. Eighth Dimension answered by pulling a few unreleased gems from its own library, including Ancient Astronauts' space-tacular remix for Beef Wellington and BMF's newly uncovered rework of Pimp Daddy Nash's classic "Jump, Jive, and Wail." Rounding out the Lime Sorbet compilation are quality beat-head tracks and remixes from Quincy Jointz pals such as CMC & Silenta, Thunderball, All Good Funk Alliance, and Shantisan. 

Bringing this collection back full circle to the Lime Sorbet radio show Quincy Jointz has also provided an exquisitely crafted hour DJ mix using the songs from the compilation. This mix reveals the mixing skills of Quincy Jointz as well as the funk and fun of his DJ sets, both live in the nightclub and on the Lime Sorbet radio program. 

All in all, it's a brilliant manifesto on the state of funk and electronic beatology in the 21st century. Quincy Jointz presents Lime Sorbet … whether you're leaning back, head nodding or jazz dancing at a smokey after-hours joint this collection fits the bill.

We don’t often invite people to run the FACT Mix gauntlet more than once – but if anyone gets to bend the rules, it’s Klock.

The Berlin titan last graced these parts back in 2009, filing a muscular FACT Mix entirely in keeping with his reputation as Berghain’s bosher-in-chief. The last five years have seen him consolidate his reputation as a standard bearer of refined, take-no-prisoners techno; his eight-hour-plus sets continue to shake Berghain’s foundations, and, although his output has slowed substantially, he’s still found time to knock out the occasional release on Ostgut Ton. His Klockworks label continues to tick along, too - new releases from fellow FACT mixer Trevino and Etapp Kyle are imminent, plus, if a forthcoming stint of “studio time” comes good, potentially more new music from Klock himself.

Those expecting pulverising 4×4 might be surprised by Klock’s sophomore FACT mix – a “deeper, dreamy” collection, bookended by two vintage ambient tracks and shot through with wonder. Unreleased Klockworks material features, as do cuts from the likes of Function, Ben Sims, Surgeon, Orgue Electronique and Lucy. The mix is a studio-recorded affair – something Klock sees as a very different kettle of fish to playing out: “Club mixes are obviously more spontaneous and capture the vibe of a specific night, while working in the studio offers other possibilities like re-editing tracks and layering tunes more precisely, which I’ve done a lot of that here.” Set your watches…

Born in '97, Lucas Whale has been on the scene since his early teens mixing for clubs in Luxembourg and supporting labels and performers in and around the country, even international names such as Egbert Live. Now a bachelor student in Maastricht, he has fit into the techno scene here with ease and has been a well known name in the local rave and club scene ever since. Driven by a heavy melodic style of techno, he has found his sound in a blend of uplifting techno classics and dark undertones of the underground.

Everything down to the smallest particles is constantly reacting with one another. Everything we know and we do in the universe is the result of countless complex reactions happening as much in the quantic level of reality or in our realm of reality. Theses cause and effect processus are the product of a dual conception of gravity that used to be incompatible but are now in the way of being unified into one big soup theory that we could call Quantaloop.

Quantaloop, the brainchild of Etienne Sarrazin and Pasquale De Luca, have
established themselves as trailblazers in the psychedelic community with their unique brand of twisted techno music. Drawing from their deep knowledge pool of electronic music knowledge their style aims to blend the best elements from many different genres while staying true to their psychedelic roots. Their sound is known for being unique and instantly recognizable in any set due to its technicality married with a constantly evolving but very much dance floor groove.

This unique blending of genres and ability to tell a story through music has
allowed them to release on some of the most prestigious labels and play on
some of the biggest festival stages around the world. They have released on the biggest labels in the psytech genre such as Zenon Records, Alpaka Muzik, Techgnosis Records, and Soupherb Records just to name a few, and 2023 saw them play in almost every major techno city across the globe.

Their journey started in 2016 when they both finished their studies in classical electronic music production and teamed up to make music that they both wanted to hear on dancefloors. As early as 2018 their first hits such as “Windmill Man” and “Expanding Elephants” started to get played by DJs around the world and this growth has not stopped since. Despite this early success Quantaloop has not stopped in their quest to constantly evolve their sound which makes every single one of their tracks unique studies of what can be done in electronic music.
