...lovely mix with some really really beautiful songs! Thanks for all the good music over the years (its been more than 15 years that I have been listening to "Quantic" music and mixes)...

Great mix - with quite a few songs I would like to know. But if there is one song I could ask for an ID - it would be the song starting at minute 26:35 in the mix. A Cumbia (!?) take on an old Chinese Melody I listened to many times when I was a child (I used to live in China in the 1980ies with my family). Any chance you could help me with the name/artist of this song. I really need it! THANKS!

The rare Afro-Latin Funkjoint "African Fever" by the Italian duo "The Tropicals" (Giancarlo Barigozzi and Oscar Rocchi) was released as a 7inch single in 1972. 

The rework is a collaboration between Dedy Dread (Lisbon) and SoulBrigada, which was already produced back in 2016 in Zurich | Switzerland. After a few years of maturation it's finally time to release this one. Enjoy it!

"Fascinated by all things ‘sound’ and ‘listening’, Nithin Shams stumbled across his passion for curating listening experiences. His artistic practice revolves around facilitating listening spaces that allow listeners to enter an open, empathetic and attentive state of mind. In his free time curates mixtapes and tries to make a living producing podcasts. Nithin is also a violinist, and is trying to build a practice around live improvisation with the violin, field recordings and electronics.

Nithin grew up in a multicultural environment in Sharjah, like many migrants from his home state Kerala (India). On moving back to India, he was faced with the conundrum of 'identity' - feeling like he always belong-ed 'else'-where and 'every'where. Listening paradoxically helps him ground his being in the space he finds himself in, while also allowing him to fly around in the dreamscapes of various musical traditions from across the world. This mixtape reflects his state of mind as he was transitioning from one home to the other. He dreams of being able to sustainably live his life curating listening spaces for people.

Nithin is currently engaged in an artistic-research project where he is recording the call of the Azan as it reverberates through the cities, towns and villages of India. These recordings will be used to create an archive, and also to compose a multi-channel sound installation. This project comes at a crucial moment where majoritarian political movements in his country are working hard to rewrite 'history', erase 'culture', and change what it means to be Muslim(s) in India. "
