There hasn't been a rise to notoriety quite like that of Hospital Records' seminal signee, S.P.Y. After making a huge impact on the drum & bass circuit with his debut album, What The Future Holds, back in 2011, the studio dynamo is once again showcasing his unparalleled production skills with his two part follow up LP, Back To Basics (Part One of which was released earlier this year). Taking a slightly darker direction this time around, the records been split into two parts, a process which according to S.P.Y was the only way to trim back a 70 track strong catalogue of music he had earmarked for it. . 

So, with a only a couple months before he releases the second chapter, we grabbed an exclusive new mix and caught up with the Brazilian producer to chat about the project as a whole and the forthcoming record and what to expect come August 1st when he’ll touch down in Room One alongside London Elektricity, Source Direct and Lenzman for the album launch...

In order the put all the odds in our corner, we took Dutch shady trainer Nymfo aboard to come up with a pumped up steroidal version of ‘Stories Untold’ while the B side sees the return of the infamous French nutritionist Redeyes sparring with the Welsh ogre for a carb free dubby liquid track called ‘Wavering Lines’.
In addition, our good doctors Arkaik and Robustus have cooked up the perfect digital complement shakes for our tight panted hero, proving, once again, IM:LTD’s ability to come up with some of the juiciest Drum & Bass music around.

Switching the pattern to a 2 step beat; the scalpel sharp percussion and harsh electrical buzz of the intro deliver you under false pretences to the devilishly warped groove of the drop, maintaining pressure throughout with clinically exacted tech drum-work. The Kolectiv trio made their return to Dispatch LTD at close of July, with a single coupled by a fresh mix reflecting the diversity and depth in their sound. 

Clocking in at just over an hour, the mix journeys through the deeper, more experimental elements, through breaks and switching grooves into darker, more abrasive beats. 

As the LTD release continues to draw support from all angles, with a few new projects soon to be announced, we look forward to hearing more music from the guys.

This is a mix I recorded at the end of this summer 2012 where I used 71 of my favorite tunes or “ingredients” along with exclusives and forthcoming IMAGE LP cuts to make a long continuous mix to showcase some of my all time favorite tracks and my mixing capabilities.  The mix is compiled with half dubs and half classics and spans all the different styles that drum & bass has to offer from jump up, liquid, ragga, techy, classic, to drum step, etc.  I hope that you enjoy this mix as much as I did making it.  The mix was recorded on September 3, 2012 using an Allen & Heath Xone:DB4 Mixer and Pioneer CDJ's.  

It has a run time of 1 hour and 45 minutes.
