Relaxing Stuff

Hey, even though I'm on vacation doesn't mean I can't make some kick-ass chill-as-hell ambient music! I brought my Blofeld and lappy up here, plus my brand new (old) TR-707 and my MPK mini keys to play with. Maybe I'll do some old fashioned Detroit techno next with the 707, basically a poor-mans 909. Aww yiss!

That's right, I'm uploading from a cabin in the middle of a small spit of land in a harbor! Life is good. Plus it just rained, so I wanted to take advantage of this momentary break to bring you fine folks some good music. Well, less music more ambient.

I don't know if this is chillwave, but its chill. And it sounds like waves, or clouds or something.

Everything but drums are outboard. Used FL Studio 12 to sequence and all the other shit. Some hardware fx, some software. Mainly Valhalla stuff, Pancake, etc.

So, using nothing but a few instances of Kontakt and my Poly800, I give you this! I've been chasing the Campfire Headphase-style sound for a little while, I think I'm starting to get there. This is kinda Boards of Canada but in my own words. I like it.

Oh, and no MIDI. I've got no MIDI cables, so everything was just tracked in and either looped or recorded straight live.

The Poly800 isn't even 100% working, it's a bit bashed up. But damn can it sound nice with a bit of coaxing.

Lullaby I

I'm back, had to study for a midterm and get a lot of stuff done. But now I've got the L100 hooked up to my Roland REVO-120, with two mics in stereo surrounding the cabinet. The REVO-120 is a leslie emulator, it's pretty cool. Uses Roland analog chorus and phaser circuits to simulate the doppler horn on the leslie.

This is just something I wanted to make. And now that I have a real tone-wheel Hammond, I can make it! Working on my Doric combo organ, hopefully that will be in the mix within the next month or so.

Can't Sleep

Hey everybody, chill out homies. Everything will be just fine, I'll be supplying everyone with positive vibes and chill waves from here on out.

But for real, I did this all in one day and it does show a little. It's a simple enough chord progression, with just one held chord being shifted up and down by a whole step. DW-8000 is using this cool patch that exploits high-resonance to create an almost automated sounding effect. I also come in and solo on the SH-09 live through a Small Stone Nano. Really fun piece, not to mention every single patch in this song was made by yours truly.
