Hit The Ground Running

I wanted to make something a bit more minimal and ambient again, it's been so long. So I took the monologue and multitracked it in stereo 3 times to the Otari. Reverb and delay comes mostly from the Avalanche Run, with some post-proc reverb added in REAPER.

All synth sounds are the Korg monologue.

This is a kinda chill weird synthwavey, lofi hip hoppy, housey mess of a track. Recorded to tape at slower speed with DBX on, then played back with DBX off. Quite a lot of fun!


In this one, the Rytm handles well, rhythm mostly. Though it does also do some nice brassy melodic lines towards the end. An interesting note here is that I started the whole thing because I found a whole host of weird drum loops with various genre names on em, all rated at 75 bpm. But, these all sounded like fairlight raw samples, pitched up a full octave. But, they're 75 bpm fast, so at roughly normal drum sounds it's like 50 bpm hahaha. I messed with things a lot to get that weird shuffling feel going quite well. Almost makes the true meter of the song kinda hidden!


Then, the Manther handles the bass on this one as well as providing CV to plaits for the weird chords. Manther is run through my Tascam GS-30 guitar amp simulator for EQ and saturation. I'm quite proud of the high pass sweep I get somewhere in the later half of the song on the bass, that's one of my favorite things to do heh.


Finally, we have the Microfreak and Model D. The Microfreak is running an arpeggio and sending MIDI to the Model D, and both are fed into the eurorack. Model D gets mixed with the Plaits chord signal, then run through antiphon and lil erebus for stereo filtering. That all goes through Clouds, then through the Dreadbox Hypnosis for chorus, delay, and reverb. Finally, the Hypnosis sends out to my DBX 900 rack for side-chained compression from the kick using two Aphex Expressor modules.


Everything mixed and mastered in REAPER with Trash 2,  Ozone, Supercharger, and some stock REAPER plugins (REAEQ). This one was a lot of fun!!!

Alright, have another weird little acid jam. This one I wanted to make a little more sinister so I gave it a good and hard go! There's a video for this as per usual, but I'll probably finish it tomorrow night lol.
