The Quarrymen Male Voice Choir is based at the Quarry in Glencairn, a short distance from the Simon’s Town Dockyard, Cape Town, South Africa.

The Choir’s membership is drawn from all the many communities of the southern part of the Cape Peninsula:

Clovelly, Fish Hoek, Glencairn, Kommetjie,
Masiphumelele, Ocean View, Simon’s Town Sun Valley.
Some members live farther afield.

The Repertoire reflects the cultures and traditions of all these various communities, as well as modern and popular musical items.

It’s at once infinite and finite, ever flowing with twists and turns and brutal, churning rapids that give way to serene stretches of placid tranquility. Simphiwe Dana is one of South Africa’s most soulful singers, who is renowned around the world and adored for her impressive vocal prowess. She is an artist who employs a true cultural and African identity in her art form.

Established in 2004 with the release of her debut album Zandisile (1st Years), followed by 2006's One Love Movement on Bantu Biko Street, and her latest offering Kulture Noir, Simphiwe Dana has firmly planted her place at the forefront of of South Africa’s musical community.
