Optimo

Quartetto Minimo is a French-Spanish instrumental band founded in Madrid in 2009. Their original compositions have often been categorized as Progressive music, Jazz, Indie, Indie-Jazz, or even Chamber Jazz. There is however one thing everybody agrees on: their style is rare and does not fit in any particular genre. From the beginning, the band has focused solely on original compositions. In between 2010 and 2013, Quartetto Minimo recorded four albums, had their music played on national and international radios and won many prizes. Alongside a significant number of concerts in Madrid, they performed in many other Spanish cities like Sevilla, Ibiza, Bilbao and in other countries such as France, Portugal and Tunisia. In 2014, Quartetto Minimo broke up and retired from the music scene. During four years their musicians traveled, studied new instruments and developed different projects. In 2018 a new formation began as harpist Norma Mugnier joined the band, replacing former guitarist Sebastian Spang. The QM started making music again. They released their latest album, Atlantico, in September 2018. The album has been well received in France, where it has been broadcasted in national radios (Tout nouveau tout FIP, FIP Jazz, FIP, Open Jazz sur France Musique). Their music comes from original compositions by Eliaz Hercelin, in close concert with Nicolas Arzimanoglou Mas and Norma Mugnier. Nowadays, the band is based in Paris and features Norma Mugnier at the harp, Nicolas Arzimanoglou Mas at the guitar, Eliaz Hercelin at the double-bass and Ilan Hercelin at the drums.
