Swarm Intelligence has built up a name for habitually reducing darkened Berlin basements to ruins. Blending ambient, rhythmic noise and industrial sounds with half-step technoid rhythms and pounding 4/4 grooves, he has captured the attention of both techno and noise fiends alike.
From bass-heavy electro right through to fast, distorted breaks, Swarm Intelligence has honed his sound over 4 EPs released on Invisible Agent, Stasis, Acroplane and most recently Acre. His latest album ëBlack Iron Prisoní, also out on Acre, is a fearsome mix of clattering beats, snarling, abrasive distortion and dissonant textures. 

This set at Krake Festival 2014 was the testing ground for some of his latest, unsigned tracks,  crafted from field recordings, self-made Max devices, guitar pedals and some analog gear.

The Puppini Sisters - Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (Custom Backing Track) (HIGH)

For this track I wanted to combine simplicity and complexity, so I went for a simple broken beat structure and bassline, and then used lots of Max for Live shenanigans to modulate the drums and hats and vocals in an interesting way, playing with psychoacoustics and detail as much as I could. It's a bit of a weird one, but I've been playing it out a lot and it seems to work!

This podcast will be very different from my set on the day, that will include all my favourite stuff from over the years, while this set is more of a preview and demo of my recent productions. My latest Egomodal EP on Traum features heavily, along with some recent remixes of Agoria, FC Kahuna and Phil Kieran which I've been playing out a lot recently. I hope you enjoy it!
