Sometimes, when talking about musicians who chose to remain faceless it’s easier [read: simpler] to just start with the facts. Much respected in house and techno circles, ItaloJohnson are a Berlin based trio who release what they call ‘functional sketches’ that combine their own array of influences with a very un-complex formula; on vinyl and on their own label. They have, so far, unleashed eight stamped platter transmissions, which have all been released with the same minimal fanfare but, as their sparse and monochrome website states: “ItaloJohnson is in no way trying to reinvent the wheel, rather trying to create reduced and functional sketches which can carry emotions through a DJ and dancefloor oriented sound.”

Seemingly more than aware of their place and the impact the music they produce and release is having in certain club spaces, they’ll be appearing at WetYourSelf’s Bank Holiday celebration on Sunday 24th August in Room One alongside the WYS! Residents Cormac, Peter Pixzel and Jacob Husley. Ahead of their appearance they’ve crafted a thoughtfully rugged and essential promotional mix that will undoubtedly go a long way to learn you way more about their outlook and their music than this fact-found introduction ever could…
