R.EK is back with a new EP, set to release on the renowned EINMUSIKA RECORDINGS label on March 10th, 2023.

Known for his captivating techno music, characterized by warm melodies and distinctive beats, R.EK continues this tradition with this EP.
"The Balance" is a breathtaking track, given an extra touch of special by the vocals of NATASCHA POLKÉ.
The remix by the Italian duo THOMAS SCHWARTZ & FAUSTO FANIZZA adds another dimension to the release, rounding out the tracklist.

R.EK, NATASCHA POLKÉ and the italien duo are thrilled about the new EP and looking forward to presenting it to the listeners. "I'm very proud of this EP. Exclusive WhoMadeWho & Ruede Hagelstein 'Violently Happy'

Watergate 26 comes from no others than Jeppe Kjellberg, Tomas Barford and Tomas Høffding, better known under their WhoMadeWho moniker. The Danish trio, founded in 2003 in Copenhagen, has delivered seven albums as well as several singles and remixes since their first appearance, so consequently the 26th installment of Watergate's renowned mix-series includes a variety of own works or cooperations with artists such as Ruede Hagelstein or Artbat but, of course, also takes and edits from other producers and WhoMadeWho favorites. While WhoMadeWho's Watergate 26 Mix, a 87-minute reflection of the trio's current musical being, was out April 5th, 2019, the time has now come to release a couple of musical pieces from the mix in full length and glance. As the tracks 'Closer', a cooperation with Artbat, and 'Montserra (Artbat Edit)' were already released in mid-April, the first full EP, consisting of eight exclusive tracks, will see the light of day shortly.

The first cut on the EP is WhoMadeWho's cooperation with Berliner Ruede Hagelstein called 'Violently Happy', a Björk cover and a paradox but only in its track title, as the take in general, despite the fact that four people worked on it, is a harmonious achievement that depicts several musical influences of the musicians. 'Violently Happy' covers the musical range and depth evoked by the hunting vocals which are supported by a seemingly funky bass line. With 'Violently Happy' WhoMadeWho's musical circle is completed, for this very moment, as the first tracks the band became famous for, had been cover-songs too.

Watergate 26 EP #1 will be released on Watergate Records May 6th, 2019.

About R.EK
Being resident DJ at Hive Club in Zurich, Switzerland for several years, R.EK has established a
reputation as an artist who is able to capture the mood of the audience, and to incorporate it
into his live DJ set. During the last two years, R.EK was working on fine-tuning his live sets, and
he spent hours in his studio working on his own productions. The result thereof is a respectably
sized repertoire—and some of these tracks are meant to see the light of day in the upcoming
months.

“Waiting”, the latest track by melodic techno artist R.EK, addresses this ambiguous, hard to define emotional state. The staggering, driving bass line represents frustration; the catchy chord progression depicts despair. And every now and then, hope still shimmers through.

'Above Your Head' is elegant deep house with gentle chords washing over the grooves and vocals from Defected artist and London singer-songwriter Jinadu that send shivers down your spine. The whole thing is soft, lush and comforting, and will bring real moments of tenderness to any DJ set.

Regular label associates Kollektiv Turmstrasse are masters of melodic house who have proved their worth on Diynamic, Connaisseur and numerous other imprints. Their remix of ‘Above Your Head’ sends the vocals through some moody filters, layers in a little grit in the percussion and gets you in a trance with its rolling drums. They also turn in a more upright dub that allows the music to shine.

The first notes of “Feys”, R.EK’s latest work and first single release in 2020, leave a volatile impression. The sound’s grace evokes the moment when you see a stranger’s face for the first time, when you inspect its details; cheek dimples, wrinkles on the forehead, a mysterious shade around the eyes.
With every passing second one discovers new details, striking passages taking turns with vulnerable sounds, and with every additional piece of the puzzle you’ll get closer to the core of this work. “Feys” heralds a new era for R.EK and introduces a new chapter for his label KnotenMusic—by uniting melodic techno with cinematic dramatics. In collaboration with Hannes Bieger, whose mixing adds a warm touch to the sound, R.EK is again pushing boundaries, and explores new grounds, where subtle, harmonious synthies and an enormous love for detail are paired to enable a new, distinct sound.

If the good times were bottled and turned into a three track EP, Euphoria is what wed call it. Direct from the brain frame of Kellerkind, a.k.a Marco Biagini, announcing his upcoming third studio album 'Mindtrip', this EP proves again why he is one of Stil vor Talents stalwart producers. The titular track Euphoria is a hip-swinging toe-tapper from the get-go. Upbeat yet downtempo, this cut is laced with junglesque samples, yet retains a perfectly calibrated atmosphere of dreamlike elation. Stepping it up in tempo, Hypnotique has just the right amount of repetition to draw the listener into a trance-like state, with somniferous synths and pitch-perfect vocals bringing you back to the present moment. Uyezwa rounds off the EP with an exotic flavour: the divine vocals of Zimbabwean Oluhle accompanying Kellerkinds masterful production. The lyrics describe the feeling of a heart in pain, reminding us that to speak is to heal, to let it pass. Distilling the essence of extreme happiness, and tempering it with a heady dose of realism, this EP is a must-listen for those with a penchant for full-spectrum sonic experience.
