Carla Bruni’s fourth album, Little French Songs, will be released on April 16th 2013 via Verve Records. The first single from the album, “Chez Keith et Anita,” will be released digitally in the US on February 26th.  PRESS HERE to stream the song now. Little French Songs, written and performed in French, English and Italian, is the follow up to Carla’s 2008 critically acclaimed Comme si de rien n’etait (As if Nothing Had Happened) which debuted at #1 in both the Billboard European Top 100 Albums Charts and the French Album Charts. Bruni’s touch is immediately apparent in these new compositions that once again focus on raw emotions and love.
 
Little French Songs was recorded by Bénédicte Schmitt at Labomatic Studios in Paris and it features eight original compositions by Carla Bruni. Album track, “Priere” was co-written by Carla and longtime friend and collaborator Julien Clerc.“Dolce Francia” is an Italian adaptation of Charles Trenet’s “Douce France” and “Valse Posthume” is written by Chopin, with lyrics written by Carla Bruni.  
 
Carla Bruni has been writing and performing music since 1997. In the late 1990s, Bruni changed direction when she decided to launch a music career, first as a songwriter for Julien Clerc, for whom she wrote several songs for his album Si j’étais elle (If I Were Her), then as a singer-songwriter-for her first album, Quelqu’un m’a dit (Someone Told Me), released in 2002. Composed with the help of Louis Bertignac, who also produced the album, Quelqu’un m’a dit was an instant hit. Acclaimed by critics, the album sold two million copies. In 2003, Bruni won the Prix Raoul Breton, awarded by SACEM (French association of songwriters and composers) to recognize and encourage an up-and-coming songwriter or composer. She was awarded the Victoire de la Musique for Best Female Artist the same year. In  January 2007, Bruni released her second album, No Promises, which set English poems to music. Among the poets she selected were Yeats, Auden, Emily Dickinson, Christina Rossetti, Walter de la Mare and Dorothy Parker. This second work, which sold more than 400,000 copies worldwide, shot to the top of the charts in both France and Europe. Her third album was released 2008 and was entitled Comme si de rien n’était (As If Nothing Happened), the title of a photographic work by her brother Virginio Bruni Tedeschi that appears in the album’s booklet.

Having produced around 300 minimal techno tracks, Billain started to look outwards. New inspiration came via Ed Rush & Optical’s legendary “Wormhole’ LP and this was his turning point towards a world of techno-influenced drum and bass, a path he treads to this day.

With « Supertensor » on MINDTECH LTD, he writes a new page in the book of insanity. Heavy breaks, percussive obsession, abstract sound, cinematic intro… All the ingredients required for an evil musical recipe.

La Folie will debut their nocturnal synth-pop at Berlin's Berghain Kantine on Wednesday June 5, 2013. A decade of musicianship, a diary full of heartbreak, and a chance encounter in Berlin preceded the birth of this project from Marc Houle and Joaquim dos Santos.

In both name and mood, the band look to 'la folie', the French phrase that describes the madness of love when one is madly in love. Theirs is a powerful type of pop music juxtaposition, made for uneasy easy listening. Joaquim and new live member Clelia Cantoro become stylized synth-pop automatons as their voices blend, echo and confront each other, while Marc draws lush shades of light and shadows from his orchestra of synthesizers.

La Folie's lyrical themes are universal, but the band has mostly existed as a secret project. La Folie began when Marc and Joaquim met through mutual friends and a mutual love of music ten years ago in Windsor, Canada. Fueled by Marc's affinity for production and Joaquim's anti-love songs, the two amassed a store of secret recordings that they crafted just for themselves.

Years later, once Marc and Joaquim had relocated to Berlin, and after a fortuitous meeting with Clelia, the final incarnation of La Folie was realised. Having written, recorded, re-recorded, refined and evolved their songs sketches over the years, La Folie developed from a passion project to a fully realised band in Marc's Berlin studio.

With the aid of Tobi Neumann's prowess as mixing engineer at his newly set up Apollo Studio Berlin, La Folie's debut 12-track album of bittersweet synth-pop laments is nearing completion. The album's tracks will be painstakingly recreated for the group's concert debut, which promises more of the intriguing juxtapositions that make the first glimpses of their debut video "Her New Dress" so compelling.
