"This EP is the result of years of identity research.

After more than 10 years of electronic music, I succeeded in this second EP to gather all the musical currents which inspired me and made vibrate all my life. My artistic approach is to create a fusion between the different musical genres that influence me, and especially, to give each of my tracks, a real identity. Percussion with Tribal sounds, a heaviness that we recognize Bass Music, rhythms shifted and dancing, this is what qualifies Leese.

This mixture is tasty, between the emotional, and the technical, I want at all costs to build original structures, varied and innovative, while traveling through all these currents, in the desire to make the listener feel.

I like this round aspect of this EP. Everything ties together, and is carefully handled. I don't know exactly what I'm trying to bring together, but I feel when I'm going in the right direction or not, each time I produce. It's a heavy and sub urge that takes to the trips, with these percussions that recall our primal instincts and speak directly to our body. The human reconnection that allows the addition of oriental voices, accompanied by melodic layers (with partimony).

I hope to touch the originality, I hope to create the astonishment, the surprise. The moment of creation can sometimes be very introspective, I do not count any more the hours or I tore off the hair of my head, to try to find my personal touch and what will make me vibrate myself in this process. The end result is self recognition. I am very happy to be able to present you this EP, as well as to deliver you a part of me."

Finishing off @henzotrax’s banner 2022 that has seen releases on YCO and Peder Mannerfelt Produktion, the Manchester-based producer dials back the tempo into dive cuts of gloom-ridden dancefloor damagers for his @nervoushorizon debut. Running the gamut of dancehall, techno and drum 'n' bass, the EP’s refined palette is laser-guided in its intention of favouring groove and atmosphere over melody and hooks.

Rounding out Stretford Blues, 'A Pocket You Didn’t Expect' feels like 3 tempos at once: 82, 164 and 328BPM. The battering, unrelenting kicks laced over taut breaks and hats hark to Jungle Techno and Tech Step in their composition, but the drawn out and bleak orchestral breakdown, coupled with a barking, irate bassline, suggest that Henzo shows no allegiance to nostalgia and is moving intently into the future.

Manchester based producer Viclan tees up his debut release for R&S Records, offering up a brace of mechanical and Detroit inspired techno cuts.

Viclan is a new project from Calvin Whittaker, previously releasing under the aliases Siege and CWS.  On this debut outing, two highly functional techno cuts are served up on the ‘Self Manifest’ single.  With a heavy nod to the sounds of the Motor City, and to the original electro sounds, Viclan carves out a couple of hypnotising four to the floor tracks, each one etched with industrial funk and rattling breakbeat energy.

Belgian producer Cabasa has carved a distinctive niche in the fertile Brussels club scene with his sleek & minimalistic productions, which reimagine UK soundsystem culture through a fresh, contemporary lens.

'Bird Tool' traverses a range of genre and BPM ranges in typical CF fashion, from the 140-influenced stylings of ‘Volume 3’, to the mutant halftime rhythms of title track ‘Bird Tool’ and ‘End Credits’ - exploring a tempo range that’s become a popular fixture of UK club music in recent years. Rounding off the release, Ayesha delivers a slick ‘Drums You Can Touch’ dub of 'Bird Tool', fresh off the back of her critically acclaimed LP ‘Rhythm Is Memory’.

"As the nights grow longer and winter settles in, Berlin's W133 is proud to present the label’s second major vinyl release. W133008, a split EP shared by label newcomer Insomniast and his friend Monibi, who returns for her second appearance, will warm up your cozy evenings or fuel sweaty club nights. This record truly offers a bit of everything.

The A-side, by Insomniast, kicks off with "Cut the Chord," a playful, house-inspired dancefloor weapon sure to light up many dancers' hearts. Following that is "Fooling Him," a break-heavy, darker rumbler packed with high energy. The third and final track on the A-side is "Istanbul," a melancholic, bassy dreamer featuring a Middle Eastern flute.

Monibi takes over the B-side, starting rough with "Your Hoe...," a 4/4 stepper which is inspired by the challenges of living and freelancing in the hustle and grind culture. The modulated vocal sample “I'm your hoe”  is about selling your labour, creativity, and skills and sometimes other parts of yourself like your boundaries.

Her second track, "...Goes on Strike," ties back to B1, offering a dreamy vibe with late '90s-style vocals, heartwarming arpeggios, and a rumbling, melodic bassline. It is a track about going on strike, interrupting the system, and taking to the streets in a joyful manner. A carefree stint of optimism.

The last track of the EP is a clashup of "Your Hoe" and "Cut the Chord" by label boss Pino Peña, combining the most energetic elements of both songs to create a powerful DJ tool.

The release is set for 1.11.24 as a limited 12” edition of 100 copies, as well as a digital release. The fully printed artwork features photography by Philipp Roth."

'@nightshopppp' is the brand new label by Naarm/Melbourne-based Rakhi. A DJ known for her sexy, energy-focused sets, Rakhi's new label is much the same, a welcome sequel to her party series Night Shop, which found its home at the much iconic Miscellania.

The label's first release is 'Tinker Bass', Rakhi's own much anticipated debut project. While a series of singles out via various community compilations has kept her growing list of fans happy, 'Tinker Bass' is a huge gift for an artist clearly already so dedicated to her community.

“Tinker Bass is a journey over two years in the making," she said. "I started tinkering on hardware at MESS in 2022, an incredible community resource of synths here in Naarm. In all honesty, I had barely any idea what I was doing! I was learning, experimenting, and somehow prizing out these super sparkly, fairy-dust-like sounds."

'Tinker Bass' releases as a digital only download on Friday, December 13, with a launch party at QQQ St. Park in Collingwood, featuring Brown Suga Princess, Nak and Rakhi herself.
