A neoclassical testament to the value of retreat,
where silence gives birth to the most profound expressions,
contrapuncting the noise of our world.

This is the 2nd movement of my Symphony "Alive!".

Composed in the silence, solitude and fears of the Pandemic Lockdown.

Sigh of Retreat

This is a musical story about an astronaut that has to leave the space station in order to perform a critical and urgent task.
It's composed around a minimalist piano theme that had a strong emotional effect on me when I first discovered it.

Ici, cela pourrait être l'image aux résonances expressives de cet épisode si particulier ….

Chapter 213 of 266

Enter the enigmatic world of "TAFFETA," a musical tapestry woven from the threads of dreams and tragedy. Born from a single night of profound dreaming, this ambitious project embarks on an exploration of the human psyche through the language of instrumental music.

This is a five-year project, comprising of what will eventually end at 266 chapters, each is a standalone piece of sonic artistry, "TAFFETA" unfolds like a novel, with each composition serving as a chapter in a larger narrative. Crafted with meticulous care and creative fervor, every piece is birthed within the span of a week, capturing the essence of inspiration in its purest form.

But "TAFFETA" is more than just a collection of songs; it's a journey of the soul. Set against the backdrop of loss and longing, the project follows the story of a woman who slips into a coma following the untimely death of her husband. Through the evocative power of music, listeners are transported into her world, where emotions ebb and flow like the tides of a restless sea.

Week by week, each chapter of "TAFFETA" unfolds on SoundCloud, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in its haunting beauty. There are many versions and different traditions of the story of the Magi and about their journey. And about their origin. Pictured on the cover is a drawing found in the 'Catalan Atlas,' a map of the world dated to the late 14th century. Pictured here are the three kings. The caption reads: “This province is called Tarshish, from which came the Three Wise Kings, and they came to Bethlehem in Judaea with their gifts and worshipped Jesus Christ, and they are entombed in the city of Cologne two days journey from Bruges.”
But where was the city (or the country) called Tarshish (Tarsis, Tharsis), whose king was already mentioned in Psalm 72?
No one, exactly, knows.

I recorded the guitar part in 2018, when bought a Guild (my Washburn had become mute ...), so the track has a lot of noise and imperfections. Then there were several attempts to organize the piece and arrange it. This could be the last one. It came rather long and slow. But long and slow was also that improbable (and hardly true) journey - perhaps one could imagine it by closing the eyes and listening to the music.

Ce concept et sa présentation graphique sont comme un poème plein de métaphores qui pourraient permettre de nous immerger totalement dans un espace qui ne tient pas compte du présent ….

Here's what I'd choose to it: The fact of finding oneself in a foreign milieu without direct contact with one's original environment, or reality.

I do not support the use of generative AI in music creation. I will not support people who use such technologies nor will I use them. The two songs I posted only serve to raise awareness of the existence of such technologies and as a warning.

At the beginning I would like to sincerely apologize that I am responding to comments late and I am sometimes unable to keep up with listening to your work, but I still work full-time in a profession that has absolutely nothing to do with music and I have my duties towards family and home.
