The hissing vent of the open hi-hat, the smack of the clap, metal-on-metal percussion - something wicked this way comes. Going by the name ‘Mota-Mota’, its deeper bass frequencies underpin prowling rhythms, cut with truculent synths, which are spliced in turn with ethereally warped hunting horns. 

It doesn’t exist in any tech/trance node or tech-house crawlspace. This is the most out-and-out techno Dakota’s dealt in eight straight years.

‘Mota-Mota’ is the first substance to surface from his 2017 ‘The Nine Skies’ project. It sees Markus in production alliance with Dutch producer Koen Groeneveld (the man behind ‘Slides’, ‘1981’, ‘Baksteen’ and Spinnin Record’s techno imprint Abzolut).

An auditory tale of the unexpected, a transonic ride to the dark side, a postcard from the musical edge - this one will scare the horses. Once more down the rabbit hole Dear Friends… and onto the floor.

Another Life

From the moment he could operate a stereo system and tape recorder, the majority of his free time was devoted to music.  At that time it was only some recording and editing of the charts (on tape) and he became familiar with a variety of different styles of music. Later on he started DJ-ing with 2x Technics 1210 and moving on to CDJ's and controllers. Mid 90's only hardcore, later club, classics/oldstyle, trance and hardstyle. After some time off in the mid 00's he got an opportunity through a friend to occasionally do some dj work .

This was exactly what he needed to spark things up and got him all fired up again and realised he quickly wanted to make music again. 

He recently built his Home studio (Ableton/MaschineMk2/Komplete 10/Roland System 1) and the musical styles are very diverse.

Inspired by people like Jean Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield, Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Leon Bolier, but also band music, rock, hiphop and many more is wat interests him.
