Start with a four-on-the-floor pattern with kicks on each quarter note, then add a hi-hat pattern with open and closed hats on alternating eighth notes. After that, add a snare on the downbeat and other percussion elements such as claps and shakers. Experiment with different sounds and patterns to create a unique beat. Once you have a foundation, begin adding melodic elements such as synth lines, basslines and chords to create a full-fledged song.
