came i to the world with a cord ‘round my neck
cryin’ like thunder, blue and cold on the deck
mama wept low, preacher bowed his head
said, this boy’s fate walks close with the dead

raised on hand me downs and a bible verse
a song in my chest, but my luck was cursed
saw angels and devils in the same clear sky
and i learned real young how to bleed and lie

from cord to wire, from breath to flame
no light of heaven ever called my name
life don’t bend, and death don’t care
just another sinner hangin’ in the air
came in bound, went out wrecked
chicken wire wrapped ‘round his neck
no one sang, no angels wept
just silence heavy as cigarette breath

i laughed like dust in a winter storm
my heart was rusted, my blood was warm
said, they fear the truth ‘cause it burns like fire
then i carved my name in a broken wire

was i wicked or just undone?
a man who broke before he could run
mama still sets my plate each june
says she hears my boots in the heat of noon

no redemption, no one to blame
life got mean and the meth got tight
i slipped away on a rust bit night
came in strangled, left out wrecked

Cord and Wire, is a raw storytelling song, built around a single tragic haunted image, someone born with a cord around their neck, and leaving this world with wire in the same place. It’s about cycles of pain, meth, broken luck, and the kind of quiet death that doesn’t make the news. The voice is gritty, stripped down, and full of ghost heat. It’s for everyone who’s lost someone the world didn’t notice.

Cord and Wire

Somewhere77’ is a London based self-taught solo artist, delivering more of a traditional song writing style with rock, acoustic, folk, country and blues influences.

2024 saw the release of the debut album “Whipped, Stripped & Almost Unplugged” which is a fully acoustic album of original songs featuring the Taylor 214CE DLX and recorded on a Boss BR80. 

Further releases have arrived and will continue to come which will be part of the next album called "The Road to Retrospection" in the near future.

Yes my vocals can be an acquired taste (this is not my day job! 😂) but I do hope that you can at least enjoy the musical melodical side of things.

With occasional assistance from long time friend and collaborator ©️CrackerJack on various tracks, both artists are proud to produce and share music with you and hope that you can find a song among what we have created.

🎶 From Cassette Tapes to Creating My Own Sound 🎶

When I was a kid, music was more than background noise, it was my escape, my teacher, and my first real love. I’d sit with two cassette players, playing the Beatles on one and singing into the other, trying my best to match artists like Paul McCartney or Barbara Streisand’s range (sometimes successfully, sometimes not so much) 🤣. Homework could wait, lyrics in my wide rule notebooks couldn’t.

Life took me through winding roads, retail, hospitality, consulting, caregiving, but music never stopped calling. 45 years later, after many personal losses, and loosing one of my sons last year, I turned back to songwriting as therapy. Inspiration is all around me. Every song I create starts with raw lyrics, usually scribbled in one shot as I choreograph in my mind, then evolves into a fully produced track through hours of refining vocal coding,  instrumentation, and feel. I blend personal stories with AI driven music tools, letting technology and emotion work together to capture what I hear and see in my head and heart.

Now, I’m finally sharing it. Not perfect, not polished to death, just real. This is me, finally putting the music out there for you to hear.
