I was invited by the lads behind the monument podcast serie to contribute an episode. Recording it was somehow a mission in itself, but It happened in time for their 60th episode.
I also had the chance to respond to a few questions, which you can check after the break.

Episode 60 (!), and still going strong thanks to your support. For this episode we present Opuswerk(@opuswerk) from Geneva, Switzerland. Opuswerk has previously released on labels like Knotweed, Steadfast and more, but soon we will be able to pick up releases done by him and François X in the record stores as mentioned in the Q&A

1) Hello Hendrik, please tell us a secret about your music that we didn’t know? (gear, sounds, inspiration or something like that)
I love the Elektron machines they’re all over my music. It takes time to get to know them and to like them, but in the end, a true love and hate relationship builds with those. 
Already got the Machine Drum and the Analog Four, and I can’t get to get my hands on an Analog Rytm. Also, I was told some time ago to focus on recording takes rather than programming tracks I believe this was the best tip any-one ever gave me, maybe that one of the secret of my music?
2) How would you describe the sound of opuswerk?
Hypnotic machine funk.
3) What’s coming up? Releases? Parties? What are you looking forward to?
I have an EP coming up in January on Krill Music, with an amazing remix by 19.454.18.5.25.5.18, who’s one of my hero’s and happen to share the same lakeside as me. I’m very excited to see this EP coming out, as some all the tracks mean a lot to me and are the result of refraining to release music, until I thought it was adding a little to the whole current techno discourse.
Next to this, we also recently released an EP as Hiss:1292 (which is a project we have with François X of the Dement3d and Concrete fame) called Veves EP on Dement3d. We’re planning to make a live project of it, and hopefully that will see the light of the dance floors next year.
No big gigs planned at the moment, but I’m very much working on getting some more, so tell your local club manager! I don’t have a booker, so it is easy to book me ;)
4) How is the scene over there?
The scene here is small but somehow vivid. We are however stuck with relatively “big” clubs, which makes it hard to book the less known, but big artists here. It’s really cool, but it leaves a gap in the deeper underground, which used to be very vibrant here. So as a way to propose an alternative to this we’ve started a monthly serie of nights / sunday afternoons called Station pour le lendemain. It takes place in one of the very last alternative places left. It fits about 55 persons, and we kicked the eerie with the great Artefakt from Field records. The whole thing has to be kept low-key, which provides for a different setting and crowd. The main inspiration behind it is Hamburg’s Golden Puddel.
5) Whats your favorite dish before a night of techno?
I’m a sucker for a nice piece of meat, from carré d’agneau to a tartare au couteau, accompanied some nice wine.

An extremely underrated  Naarm based artist, WTP (@worktheperipherals) for number #182. Miles has been releasing music under his WTP alias for a few years now - with releases via Hannah D's @thespacebetweenus & Millu & Pjenne's @companionmelb & more. 

Locally adored & undeniably talented, Miles' releases are consistently luscious & groovy.- reminiscent of the pure bliss freedom of raves during late summer at home. Housey, progressive & full of rare-cuts - this mix is a perfect extension of MIles' style & a great fit for the series. Welcoming Spring in full bloom in Australia :)

Detroit’s Craig Gonzalez was drawn to vinyl from a young age, captivated by hip hop and the underground party scene of the 1990s. This fascination quickly evolved into a lifelong passion for DJing, driven by a desire to weave rhythmic layers into compelling, personal stories. 

A self-taught artist, Gonzalez’s collection spans the rich musical evolution of Detroit, including techno, house, hip hop, funk, dnb, and a diverse range of other genres. His skills were further honed during his residency at Solar in Ann Arbor, where he shared the decks with renowned artists. Gonzalez has also been a frequent fixture at Movement and other major local events, where he’s shared the stage with legends in the electronic music scene. Since 2022, he has been a resident DJ for the Third Thursday monthly event by Paxahau, further cementing his presence in Detroit’s vibrant nightlife scene. 

Deeply influenced by the musical depth of Detroit and the hypnotic craft of global artists, Gonzalez’s style reflects a rich, interconnected network of like-minded creators. His connection to family, history, and the culture surrounding electronic music gives his sets a profound sensibility, effortlessly translating onto the dance floor.

RND 141 - Craig Gonzalez

Don’t have many rules in life but one of them is that whenever a new mix by Pjenne comes out, to stop what I’m doing immediately and put it on. And probably am not alone here. 

Like many people, Pjenne’s mixes have been go-to’s, essential and always-classy additions to a landscape of noise and clutter. 

Like your favourite mix CD that never left the space•ship stereo. And no matter how many times you listen, it seems to get better and better with each play. They’re timeless, they’re crucial and the amount of care and love poured into each one is apparent as soon as you hear the first blend. 

Often compiled and cooked up over the course of a couple of years, they have the kind of craft and expertise that can only come from doing a weekly radio show for over 6 years, being a staple of her local Naarm scene and being an all-round legend. We’re pleased to report this mix is no different and has been on repeat since it arrived. 

Appreciate this is a bit of a gushy write up, but sometimes you’ve got to say it how it is, and anyone who’s a Pjenne Ultra will understand what a big day this is at space•lab HQ.
