When I heard that the Stanton Warriors were going to do a classic breakbeat set I was so excited to dig into my record collection and play some of my favorite tunes from 1995-2005.  This night was amazing on so many levels and I am happy that I was able to record this momentous occasion.  

Pro DJ tip:  It is a faux pas to play the headliners music which is why there were no Stanton Warriors tracks in my mix.

This set was first performed on January 1st 2024 in San Francisco at the Breakfast of Champions block party on the Space Cowboys main stage.

A RE:CONSTRUCTED set is a *long* way removed from a standard DJ set. It's a live/hybrid set.

Simon takes hundreds of tracks from his huge library, painstakingly deconstructs them (using Ai if needed to separate elements from the original tracks), and then pieces everything back together to create a hugely emotive and immersive musical story.

He uses Ableton Live and multiple controllers to trigger up to 16 individual channels of audio at any one time during the performance, and also performs live keyboard overdubs. The end result is a hugely addictive, compulsive and compelling blend of music that's often new, often familiar but always utterly unique.

I haven’t released a set in a while but I really played a lot of my current favorite music and some really firm new directions / sounds for me - a mix of broken beat and uk influences, often switching from melodic and vibey to bass-y and spattered with choppy vocals throughout.

Live from Mass Transit 40 Charles Feelgood blessed us with a night of house we are sure not to forget.  Thankfully we recorded it so you can enjoy the night as much as we did.  

Charles Feelgood loves music and even more, he loves sharing it with his fans. The man prides himself on his ability to connect with his audience – through a wicked combination of his exuberant personality and his exquisite ability to know what fills and keeps a dance floor pumpin’. 
 
His rise to dance music infamy dates back to his humble beginnings as the leading force behind the Baltimore / Washington DC electronic music scene. Alongside his partner, and fellow DJ, Scott Henry, Feelgood launched Fever, which for nearly a decade became one of the most sought after events for touring DJs from around the world. 

It was the days after starting Fever that Feelgood enhanced his reputation amongst those the international dance community. He parlayed his danceable brand of House music up and down the East coast and became renown for his creative ability to incorporate his love of 80’s music with a variety of different House styles into his sets. In the years that have followed, he has taken his talents to all ends of the earth – from North and South America to Russia and Asia, and everywhere in between. He has appeared at such seminal events as Coachella, and Lollapalooza, and has become a welcome fixture with Insomniac, Giant, and Karma Foundation. He also plays quite regularly in Los Angeles (Vanguard, Playhouse), San Francisco (Ruby Skye), and has been a part of the annual Mardi Gras festivities in New Orleans for over a decade.  

His initial popularity was assisted thanks in part to his legendary mixed series, "Time to Get Ill" and has continued to flourish though the release of remixes and singles such as “Hands,” “Aerobic Martini,” “Strobe Light,” and “Burnin”. He is a  mainstay in the Top 100 on Beatport and Top 10 on a number of other worldwide digital sites.  Feelgood has had several releases on Major and Independent labels such as PornoStar, Instereo, Guesthouse - with a breakout track called "Hands" on Ultra that made the Beatport Top 100 chart several weeks running with an Alex Kenji remix.

Accolades such as repeatedly being named to DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs aside, Feelgood remains committed to lighting up dance floors around the world – summing up his musical mission in one sentence: "I just want to do what the name implies, to make people have a good time and go home with a great feeling”.

Finger Lickin Records were the home to many great Breakbeat artists and DJs. Started back in 1998 by Justin Rushmoore and Jem Panufnik (known collectively as Soul of Man) they were at the forefront innovating the breaks scene with new music and artists, selling a pile of vinyl records throughout the year 2000 and onwards.
