Astrix is a unique phenomenon in the trance world, a leading DJ & producer, who came from the underground psychedelic scene, have been performing in the biggest festivals and venues, reached # 18 on the DJ Mag poll, and yet, chose to always stay true to the underground trance movement.

Avi Shmailov has been dividing his life is for more than a decade already between constant studio work and non-stop touring around the globe. Astrix broke into global consciousness in 2002 with his debut album ‘Eye to Eye’, defining him as a trance music anthems producer. In 2004, he released his second album ‘Artcore’, igniting fire all over the global trance scene and is considered by many as the perfecttrance album. The album’s effect was followed in 2005 by the impressive entry to the world's top 100 DJs list of the famous Dj Magazine, where he took the respectful climb to the 18th position in 2007. His third album ‘Red Means Distortion’ was released in 2010 and since then he continues to release many tracks on various compilations and digital EP’s to delighted fans, who according to his Facebook page are over 900,000 and going on strong

Basel Zayed was born in Jerusalem in 1979. Started playing music at an early age. When he was 14 he began studying Piano and Oud, as well as receiving professional training for his voice. Zayed studied Oud and sang in the Arabic Choir of the Edward Said Conservatory of Music. Following his study in the National Conservatory. 
Zayed started studying music composition and harmony at the Magnificent Institute for Holy Music in Jerusalem. Since 1995 Zayed started to play music with many groups and with a number of artists, all of which had exposed him to different styles of music which formed a unique and distinguished artist in the field of alternative music. 	

Basel an accomplished virtuoso Oud player and vocalist skilled in highly developed Arab musical traditions, is also a trained pianist with a unique outlook on musical arrangement made him a member of many successful artistic ideas and performing groups, such as making and recording of soundtracks for movies, plays and dance groups.

As a music composer, arranger, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Zayed became an important contributor to Palestinian and Arabic music, through the integration of Arabic music with all its musically unique elements, and Western music with its various forms of jazz, reggae, pop and classical music, that has gained acclaim both locally and internationally.
For the past ten years, Basel has led the band Turab and has more recently focused on developing a style based on Palestinian music ‘with a jazz flavor’- Ara-Jazz. Ara-Jazz has been Basel's dream for a long time and now it is becoming a reality on stage and soon to be recorded on a number of records.

2004 was the year that two old friends, Andreas and Denis, decided to hit the studio to have some fun. After a couple of days the first tune was created and they were both very happy with the result. They decided to continue making music together and so Gaudium was born. Gaudium is the Latin word for satisfaction which is basically what music should be to the ears.

Both Andreas and Denis have been involved in several music projects before they decided to start producing together. At the end of 2004 the Swedish record label Spiral Trax heard a Gaudium track that really caught their attention and that became the start of the first album Nordic Nature. The album was released during the summer 2005 and received great reviews from both fans and critics all over the world, some even claiming it to be the best progressive release of the year (!)

The year after the album was released turned out to be a very productive time for Gaudium and they released tracks on labels like Flow, Plusquam, Sinn-Tech and Yellow Sunshine Explosion. Remixes on tracks by artists like Ace Ventura, Sensifeel, Visua and Symphonix were also made. 

Gaudium creates music that can be described as progressive psychedelic trance with elements of both house and techno. This attracts an audience that is used to the sounds of Spiral Trax, Iboga and Digital Structures as well as the crowd that are more familiar with harder progressive house such as Marc O’Tool and Krüger & Coyle.

In 2006 after the sad news that Spiral Trax label group stopped existing Gaudium went back to the studio to focus on not going down with the ship. A new album started to take shape and a record deal with the highly respected Danish label Iboga was made.

Gaudium is a name you will hear a lot from in the future. New remixes, performances around the world and fresh material produced for the second album will be presented. Stay tuned and make sure not to miss any of it :)
