Empty House Once Full Of Life (naviarhaiku512)

This track started from a newspaper article (published in November 1973 in my home country). I processed it through a text-to-speech software and use it as a base to improvise melodies and rhythms. I then extracted elements that I liked and arranged them into the final piece.

The goal was to make the voice less audible as the track progresses. To achieve this, I used different set of effects on each sections of the track.

Between Fear and Hope (disquiet0618)

This track was created for the Disquiet Junto project 0618 (details see below): A 50 year old local newspaper-article was to be read, accompanied by music.
I found an article from 28th October 1973 from the "Seckenheimer Bote" (Seckenheim is 5 km away from where I live). It is available here

The article announced a concert of Zarah Leander in Seckenheim, as part of the farewell tour of the then 66 year old Swedish singer and actress.
Zarah Leander is still known for her song "Ich weiss, es wird einmal ein Wunder geschehen" (https://soundcloud.com/zarah-leander-official/ich-weiss-es-wird-212274359) from 1942. This influenced the choice of music for this track.

The Assignment: Create a sonic diary of the past year with a dozen (or more) super-brief segments.

I made quite a lot of test recordings this year when trying out - and improving - my improvisation setup: acoustic instruments into digital effect chains that can be routed and rerouted on the fly using a matrix mixer. Those recordings don’t really stand on their own, but as super short segments they often work. 
So this 2023 diary consists mostly of those snippets. And since they’re often quite sparse, I figured they might work well as a mashup (instead of a series of clips back to back as the prompt suggested).

The great work has been close to my heart for decades and it's fitting that my first contribution to the #disquietjunto comes under the alchemical rubric. The track begins with ionospheric tappings, lightening crackles in the radio sphere and employs a cello-like sounding box which I call the Bluesky instrument. Treatments in Max-Msp of sounds of the swarmandal ( zither tuned to a specific vaguely Hindustani raga mode -- played originally played with slide and plectrum of guitar string fragments. Uniting all the elements and going towards the end of the rainbow.

Those sound farming tools once again, put simplt: VLF radio, Bluesky Cello, Swarmandal, Max-Msp, Amanita Gold tincture

I made a sculpture specifically for this project by collecting things on a walk and assembling them, then recording, on only one day.

I used the leftover objects to rub, scrape and clang. Everything you hear is litter.
