"Enfant Terrible of the disco scene, Gallic genius Young Pulse returns to GAMM with the second instalment of his "Paris Edits" series. If you copped the first volume then you'll know exactly what's on the menu; funk, soul and disco grooves and no messin' around! We head straight to the club on the A-side with "Enjoy & Relax", as Young Pulse reworks (or is that remixes?) Rhyze's soulful disco stomper to perfection. The re-EQed kick and bubbly bassline are as meaty as your local charcuterie, while the uplifting chord progression adds a subtle hint of fromage to get your tastebuds working overtime. Don't be put off though, I'm thinking more the mild flavour of Brie than the hefty pong of a Pont l’Eveque. 10 months on from his last solo outing - a four-track missive of "Good Vibes" on Midnight Riot - South London's Shit Hot Soundsystem makes his belated bow on Slightly Transformed. There's much to enjoy on opener "Playground", a buzzing, low-slung chunk of mind-altering dub disco full of trippy electronic noises, intense bass, funky guitars and well-placed samples from a New York disco classic. On accompanying cut "Oh My My" he whips off his shirt and runs giddily towards sunny and summery disco pastures, adding his distinctive touch to a glassy eyed early '80s cut full of chopped-up rifts, celebratory vocal snippets and excitement-building filter sweeps.

From an early age it’s been about the rhythm section for Racket Club. Playing drums in bands that covered Rage Against the Machine and Deftones, Racket Club’s style has since morphed into what he calls Disco-Tech: a little Disco, a little Tech, and everything in between. He has an affinity for bouncy House music bass lines with female and hip hop vocals and you know he’s going to throw down in the club having done it for nearly 15 years, at venues like Sound Nightclub LA, Academy LA, Audio San Francisco, House of Blues, Lost Beach Club (Ecuador), Slate New York, and Zuma Boston. 

Racket Club has played support for and alongside heavy hitters HoneyLuv, Gene Farris, Westend, DJ Susan, OFFAIAH, Pickle, and Zen Freeman and he’s been on the bill for Groove Cruise, Wicked Paradise, Space Yacht, Hood Politics, Framework, and even Mammoth Mountain.

On the production side Racket Club’s released a flurry of edits that have gone viral on SoundCloud including his Beyoncé edit that’s approaching 50K streams and has aired on BBC Radio 1. He’s also had releases on Top Shelf Disco and Quincy Boy Records, with a release on Hood Politics out Spring 2023.

Former member of the record label Top Shelf Disco, a founder of the event series Pizza & Techno plus a co-founder of the music blog My Music Is Better Than Yours, Racket Club is no stranger to the electronic music world. Keep an eye on this LA-based stud as his single goal in life is to make you dance.
