The Runes Project is a continuation of what began as a high school garage band called "Runesword" back in the 1980's. David Gines and Eric Sisler had big dreams in the day, but skills and equipment didn't quite match the dreams. As is sometimes the case, the two friends got caught up in life, taking different paths and eventually lost track of each other.

Fast forward 30 years and the two old friends found each other on Facebook after both had been successful tech nerds and each had maintained their love for music.  Dave continued playing in various bands over the years but Eric had only recently picked it back up after playing in a few bands in the late 80's. They decided, "Oh, what the hell!" and began writing and recording together again. Influences are an eclectic blend of 70's classic rock (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rush) to 60's and 70's singer-songwriter (Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Don McLean, John Denver), to 80's Alternative (The Cure, Billy Bragg, U2, and others) and everything in between.  We hope you have as much fun listening as we have writing and recording, although we doubt it. :-)

Born in Halifax and having moved countless times along the East coast, Gareth Bush has since found his element in London Ontario, where he has resided since 2003.

Growing up learning to play piano/trombone along with various choirs along the way, Gareth eventually found a much stronger interest in the acoustic guitar.  As each high school semester went by, simple strumming patterns quickly developed into original melodies and more complicated verses.  Surrounded by the friends and family of the school's music department, inspiration wasn't hard to find.

Gareth's first original recording was a song called 'Grow', recorded by classmate and now professional audio engineer Alastair Sims.  At 16, it was a raw, underdeveloped effort. It was also a sign of things to come.  After a few more unrelated recordings put out on MySpace, music production came to a long-term halt due to a lack of recording resources.  Add on a nearly terminal case of writer's block, and the singer/songwriter approach was paused indefinitely.

Following high school graduation, Gareth took up street-performance more seriously as a way to practice publicly, build up repertoire, and of course, make some money.  After weekly appearances around the city's bar scene during obscenely late hours, his skills and song archives were much more polished.

At 20 as a directionless university student at Western, Gareth was messaged by Kenneth Nielson, a student at OIART (London's audio engineering institution) expressing interest in recording him for his school projects.  Before you know it, a successful working relationship was formed and the two teamed up on a number of acoustic recordings and studio productions.  Kenneth's hard work, generosity and available resources revived Gareth's songwriting aspirations.

Nielson and Bush worked together on a 5-track EP, called 'This Is For Keeps' which is currently being finalized.  

Growing up on a farm in Florida, Angelis spent her childhood playing, running around the farm, and making up songs with her twin sister. 

Influenced by artists like Brandi Carlile, Ray Lamontagne, Taylor Swift, Hanson, The Lumineers, Elton John, Ingrid Michaelson, Sara Bareilles, and many more she released her first full-length album, "The Left Atrium" produced by Jeff Zacharski, a great example of who Kris is as a musician—beautiful, eclectic, surprising, and yet somehow always herself. It was awarded Best Female Album of 2013 by the LA Music Critics Awards and the video for the song "Not Your Fault" starring Justin Hartley (This is Us) premiered on RyanSeacrest.com. 

In 2017, she collaborated with Morgan Taylor Reid, and Alexander Cardinale for the "Heartbreak is Contagious" EP which debuted in the Top 10 of the iTunes Singer-songwriter chart and earned Kris Best Female Artist in the 13th annual International Acoustic Music Awards and Finalist in the 2017 International Songwriting Competition. 

Kris has released some exciting collaborations over the last year including "Bright Side" with Adrianne Gonzalez (The Rescues), "Roll The Dice" with Rockwell Sands of the band WØLVES, and has teamed up with producer Billy Lefler (Ingrid Michaelson, Joshua Radin, Cary Brothers) for a new EP due out this summer. The first single, "Photobooth" dropped on May 11th.
