Fractal Void is an avant-garde duo based in Düsseldorf, Germany. Their experimental music blends electronic and contemporary genres located somewhere in the field of musical tension between ambient, drone, halfstep and floor-affine IDM. During their live sets, Fractal Void create vertical reflections by processing sounds through software and interaction with real instruments in every unique musical performance like the Chinese contemporary calligraphic practice Dishu.

Their debut album Elemental Collection unveils a dense and lavishly layered transformation of artificial organic signals, sculpting an auditory world filled with emotive landscapes, overgrown polyrhythms and futuristic elements. Embedded within each track are field recordings serving as the heartbeat of the album. Through innovative and expansive deconstruction, Fractal Void create an energetic and sometimes contemplative experience.

The persons behind Fractal Void:
Back in 2008, their musical journey began with winning a Spectrasonics competition using field recordings of a locker door, that was implemented as a bass synth. Their collaboration was continued as producers of the eight-piece electronic jazz project „Mothers of Guru“.

Marcus Scheltinga is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Besides studying jazz trombone at the Conservatorium Hilversum and the Folkwanghochschule, he works as a musical director, lecturer and coach in 39 countries around the world. From ZDF sound design to live and studio performances with international greats, his own productions have included such as Grammy winner Larry Carlton and Peter Erskine. Mid-east and Indian inspired, Marcus is a true story teller as a musician and composer.

BORGBORG is a producer and DJ. She moves freely in different styles of electronic music with a focus on avant-garde driving techno, dark hypnotic vibes seamlessly blended with deconstructed beats, noise and timeless elements of IDM. She is a member of About Repetition, a group of artists dedicated to the research of repetition through artistic means, collaborating with a wide range of other collectives across Europe and co-founder of the techno event series „SCHLEIFEN“.

His music has been supported by industry heavyweights Skream, Hamdi, Mala, Monty, and many more, bringing the Criso sound to an even wider audience. He has been brought on the road by Of The Trees, EPROM, Ternion Sound, and Chef Boyarbeatz, and more headline, festival, and special B2B sets are on the way in 2025. His sound is crisp in the highs and punchy in the lows, giving his music a powerful and unique signature that is easily identifiable by the heads and eagerly received by new fans the world over.

This program’s mission is to create a space for artists to tell their story. The BASSment has been a place for so many artists to feel free to play music they may not normally get to play out. During the interview segment the guest artist will get to talk about where they have come from, things they are working on and where they would like to see themselves going in the future. "What truly inspired me? Just the chance to play at Temple… and the fact that it happened to be my dear friend Josephine’s birthday. That alone made it feel really special. I knew that with such a meaningful occasion, a sold-out night was guaranteed—so I had to show up fully, mostly for myself.

Then, when you told me I’d be closing, and that you were feeling downtempo vibes… a whole universe of possibilities opened up. I started thinking about tracks I hadn’t played anywhere else before.

Producer and selector based in Bologna, Marco co-founded @sinestesie_s event and mix series. His project is rooted in a multidimensional approach, known for his collaboration with Christian Duka as MARMO, and his solo album Clinamen, released on @omenwapta.

At the crossroads of deep psychedelic techno and tribal sounds, Marco Maldarella dives into the depths of modern electronic music with a fast-paced and intense sonic signature.

For this mix, Marco delivers a raw tribe fast trance experience, where psychedelic elements collide with a dark groove reminiscent of ancient times. Drones, noise, and otherworldly voices define his unique style. The result is an intimate, introspective, and mental journey, featuring many of unreleased tracks.

Plying refracted rhythms with an exacting poise, Aerae arrives on Samurai Music with a fully formed sound that plumbs the depths between techno immersion and D&B beat science.

An accomplished, palpable tension runs throughout Nefanda, Aerae’s second solo release. Following up on the meditative pulse of her debut album on Annulled Music last year, the Paris-based artist digs deeper into ominous atmospheres filled with evocative reverb decays and taut, dynamic drum work — tools she wields to render tracks with specific meaning, coded by the Latin framing that runs through all aspects of her musical output. Contemplating the ancient language as an inescapable part of her European roots, on Nefanda Aerae ruminates on external trials and inner impulses, and conjures a jaw-clenching soundtrack to match.

Finding her own language within the dialogue between techno, D&B and dark ambient, Aerae’s music makes a vivid impression thanks to the ideas and intention that drive her in the studio. "Between layers of atmosphere and modular frequencies, sound unfolds like a labyrinth that expands and folds back onto itself. Fragments of the outside world slip into the machine, transforming into landscapes. Motifs emerge and fade, weaving their way back through the path."

Puntalaberinto (@puntalaberinto) is a sound artist working at the intersection of modular synths, field recordings, DIY/DIWO instrument building, and research into the use of natural elements within electronic music. The modular synthesizer is her main tool, filtering and reshaping geophonies, biophonies, and anthrophonies to create immersive soundscapes, organic textures, deep drones, powerful low-end, and subtle echoes of dub. Her live performances invite a physical and introspective listening experience, diverging from conventional narratives to reveal a crack of strange nature. She is a member of Arquea Collective, where she explores the hybrid space between sound creation, visual art, and biology through expanded cinema formats. Puntalaberinto is also co-founder of ODD — One Drone Day, an immersive festival dedicated to twelve continuous hours of live drone and ambient music, designed for deep, psychoacoustic listening within a quadraphonic sound space.

Paragon means a person is regarded as a perfect example of a particular quality. Always open to exploring different sounds, as of lately, Paragon has been discovering more relaxing or different realms of electronic music or IDM. Nowadays you can find in his selections mostly from ambient, broken beats of techno to different types of drum n bass. He has been the curator of the podcast series Parallel Perception, where you can also experience his vision and taste in electronic music.

"This set is part of my Sunday morning routine. Me and a cup of coffee and records that I put in for the quiet mornings. I picked some of my favorite records that I keep coming back on a regular basis. It's not super polished but it's honest something that helps me to wake up and have a good day. Hope it keeps you good company, wherever and whenever you listen to it."

For the 393rd edition of the Inverted Audio Mix Series, we are thrilled to present an hour-long sonic journey from @edenaurelius. Currently based in New York, Eden’s spent many years immersed in the DIY and club scenes of NYC and Chicago, her previous home before relocating two years ago.

Last year’s debut ‘Pleateau’ was one of our favourite releases of 2024. A potent mixture of ambient and dub techno, ‘Pleateau’ has only gotten better in the spin around the sun since it was released. It hooks you in with its unhurried rhythms that pulse with a vibrant spirit. The album feels like a welcome time out from the anxieties of constant connections and endless news cycles.

Along with recent output by Purelink (who are friends and collaborators), Eden’s work feels like an essential new chapter in the long, winding story of ambient dub. As Summer takes control, we caught up with Eden to talk about her musical beginnings, all time and current favourite albums, and upcoming projects.

The act of being a small observer amid the vast and majestic sublimity of the Earth, and the pure bliss experienced as a human participant faced with the serene yet terrifying beauty of nature.
