We launched a brand new national radio station on Thursday 1st October called Capital Dance, bringing the hottest beats from around the world together on 1 station available across the UK on DAB+ and world-wide on Global Player.

The legend, MistaJam, launched at 4pm... here's that moment, and a few bits of production I worked on plus Coco Cole's epic sign-off link all from launch day. Featuring VOs from KellyKellyKelly and Rio Attoh-Wood... Dream team!

A complete overhaul of the specialist output on KISS meant an entirely new sound to match. Something more than just a ‘one-size-fits-all-swap-out-the-DJ-names’ package.

Unique. Individual. Massive.

Drum & Bass, Afrobeats, Grime, Hip Hop, Dance and Garage from across the UK and beyond, every show has hand-crafted bespoke production to suit each DJ and their vibez.

From a Top of Hour and two Out of Break to a suite of In to Break ramps, KISS Nights ID's, DJ Name elements, Menu's, and Promos.

When this is the line up, you need A game gear. And we bought a big bag of it for the who’s who of DJ’s from around the world.

VIRGIN RADIO GETS NEW REELWORLD SOUND FOR 2021

Virgin Radio stations in Romania, Switzerland and Oman have all unveiled an innovative new station sound developed and produced by the team at ReelWorld.

Mitch Calladine is the Group Production Director for Virgin Radio International: “We were looking for a new sound for the stations and had the opportunity to plan music, lyrics, cast vocalists and voices from scratch with no limits on creativity. ReelWorld have delivered a world class package for Virgin Radio Romania, Switzerland, and Oman that has exceeded our expectations as the Virgin Radio network continues to grow.”

Incorporating original music and bespoke imaging, the rhythmic package is a fuzion of hip hop and R ‘n’ B sounds to help the station’s contemporary music proposition punch through on air.

ReelWorld Managing Director Anthony Gay said: “We recognise how important the Virgin Radio brand is and it was an honour to help innovate the station sound and find a new creative approach to reflect the music on these stations. This project was a lot of fun for the team to work on and despite the challenges of the year we’re thrilled to hear it now on air to help kick off 2021. Turn it up, turn it loud!”

ReelWorld works closely with radio stations across Europe to create bespoke imaging solutions. Recent projects can be heard on BBC Radio 1 breakfast in the UK, RTE 2fm in Ireland, and the UK’s BBC Local Radio network.

Virgin Radio ReelWorld Imaging 2021

Targeting 35-54 year olds, XS Manchester music focuses on classic anthems, Britpop and the best guitar driven hits of the 00s and today.

A new sonic platform.

All voiced by Gabriella Ashcroft, we worked on capturing the essence of the playlist crafting elements and work parts out of guitar noise, crowd atmospheres, and drum hits all to evoke the energy needed. This work can easily be heard in Breakfast ID’s, In to Breaks, Station ID’s and Weekend ID’s.

Continuing development on this theme, we constructed Out of Breaks (Example 1, Example 2) with key matched music montages to help define and punctuate the playlist.

And we pushed it further.

This package culminated in custom themes featuring a 5 note Sonic Motif (paced to match Gabriella’s reads) for News, Weather and Travel. This motif also forms a part of the Breakfast theme appearing in the Top of Hour and in Promos.

Sponsor credits on a radio station needs to sound just as good as the imaging, because it’s an opportunity to lose listeners. 

That’s where WIZZFX came in.

Partnering with Joe and the Hits Radio team, we created and delivered more sponsor credit music. 10 custom tracks featuring bespoke sound design and vocal post production. With names like Chasing You, Cobalt, Culture, Flavor of the Day, Juice, Lost World, North Feel, Tequila, Toronto, Typhoon.

And just like our previous delivery, each piece contains creative vocal production designed to be combined, mixed, shifted and edited to fit a variety of sponsor credit and show name lengths.
