Radio Campus France, Radio ORANGE à Vienne, Radio Študent à Ljubljana et Radio Student à Zagreb se lancent dans un vaste projet radio: échanger, partager et faire découvrir leurs musiques à travers toute l’Europe ! Vive RadioMuse !

RadioMuse replace les radios associatives au centre de la diffusion des musiques actuelles, des musiciens et des producteurs. Durant 6 mois, les quatre radios universitaires européennes produiront et diffuseront à tour de rôle.

Ce programme d’échange à l’intention de faciliter l’accès du public à la diversité musicale en Europe et exposer la diversité et la créativité des scènes musicales locales, qui restent principalement cantonnées à l’intérieur des frontières nationales du fait des barrières linguistiques, des enjeux commerciaux et des limites de diffusion des moyens de communication spécifiques dont elles se servent.

Sur la base d’échange hebdomadaire de « featured songs », des titres de musiciens et producteurs locaux fraîchement sortis des studios, et de « RadioMuse broadcasts », des rencontres avec les artistes, diffusés sur les radios partenaires, le dispositif veut permettre une plus large reconnaissance des initiatives locales et ainsi les aider à dépasser les limites de leurs propres moyens de communication.

À vent contraire de la robotisation dans l’industrie de la musique des playlists musicales, les radios étudiantes et associatives présentes dans RadioMuse veulent mettre en exergue une programmation élaboré par des artisans de la musique, en lien direct avec les artistes et locaux et sans intention commerciale.

Cette association de quatre radios et réseau de radios à travers l’Europe souhaite réaffirmer son rôle de promoteur de nouvelles esthétiques et de musique actuelle !

À l’aube de la sortie de son nouvel album ‘Les Délivrés’, prolongement de sa bande-son illustrant ce poignant documentaire sur la lutte des coursiers à vélos des grandes plateformes, Maxime Dangles dévoile ‘Matin Bleu’.

Entré par la grande porte des musique électroniques il y a 15 ans sur le label Kompakt, collectionnant les remixes de prestige (Moby, Green Velvet, Simian Mobile Disco, Kittin & The Hacker…), Maxime Dangles est une référence de la scène électronique internationale, réputé pour son sound design immersif et singulier qu’il façonne avec ses synthés modulaires. Mais depuis 4 ans, Maxime Dangles a ralenti les dates en club pour se consacrer à ce type de création, à la spatialisation du son, dans des lieux comme la référence en la matière la SAT de Montreal et au projet arts et sciences SONARS aux côtés des chercheurs du CNRS qui l’embarquent au coeur de leurs recherches sur les îles de Saint-Pierre et Micquelon.

Nourri des sentiments des protagonistes du documentaire tels que la lutte, la colère, le stress, l’aliénation ou l’espoir, Maxime Dangles signe ici une bande-son militante qui prolonge le combat des Délivrés de manière poétique entre IDM, electronica et ambient. Avec ‘Matin Bleu’, ce sont ici l’espoir et le rêve d’une vie meilleure qui sont traduits avec ce morceau électronica contemplatif et mélancolique mélangeant des notes de piano délicates et sensibles à son modulaire si singulier qui a fait sa marque de fabrique. Un crossover de musique électronique et contemporaine qui rappelle les dernières compositions de Yann Tiersen. 

L’album ‘Les Délivrés’ sera disponible en vinyle et digital le 17 février sur Lifeguards - nouveau sous label d’Astropolis Records, et Maxime Dangles présentera en avant-première son nouveau live sur Astropolis l’Hiver le samedi 11 février accompagné d’une création vidéo inspirée par le documentaire et orchestrée par Dylan Cote du collectif OYE, avec qui Maxime Dangles a déjà collaboré à la prestigieuse SAT de Montréal.

We’ve got new music from Dublin-based producer Hannah Worrall aka SPOOKLET. ‘AH SHIT’ is a left-field leaning piece of punk-soaked UK techno as the newcomer blurs the lines between glitchy electronica, grime, and hard-edged UK sounds.

We welcome SPOOKLET to our Four Four Premiere series with a strong offering entitled ‘AH SHIT’. SPOOKLET was designed to delve into the depths of vulnerability, consume it, understand it, and grow old with it. She finds purpose in the amaranthine journey of self-discovery.

AH SHIT encapsulates the fiery essence of SPOOKLET. In this track, she is faced with a whirlwind of emotions when she realises that her desire for someone is not reciprocated. 

SPOOKLET unleashes a smoldering slice of genre-bending left-field electronica as she tells a story of romantic frustration and the liberation of emancipation. Hard-edged and broken low-end punches play off a haunting droning bass and sinisterly overdriven vocals. Astéréotypie en live au Festival Hop Pop Hop

Croiser le collectif Astéréotypie, ça secoue. Ça fait bouger les jambes quand ça s’élance, ça désarticule les bras à chaque scansion ou rupture de tempo, ça fait hurler en chœur à s’en froisser les cordes vocales et ça fracasse les a priori pour peu qu’il en reste.

Derrière Astéréotypie se cachent Yohann, Stanislas, Aurélien, Claire et Félix, l’homme de l’ombre. Combo né en 2010 au sein d’un Institut médico-éducatif des Hauts-de-Seine lors d’un atelier d’écriture et de poésie, ce groupe étonnant multiplie les paroles atypiques et les phrasés lunaires qui aimantent l’oreille sur un genre de post-punk énergique tirant parfois sur le garage-rock ou le noisy.

Figure de la scène angevine depuis plus de 15 ans ans, Nerlov a officié dans une longue liste de groupes (Sheraf, VedeTT, San Carol…) et dans une grande variété de styles avant se de lancer tout naturellement en solo, sous son nom, en 2020. Son nouvel album "Pas Si Grave", avec son électro pop danseuse et raffinée chantée en français sortira en mai 2024.

“Ruines, Béton & Industrie” follows the 30-year-old friendship between Guillaume and Andrew.  They met in Grenoble, the French techno city, home of The Hacker, Kittin and Etant DonnéS. They also discovered rave culture together. It took almost 20 years before they recorded their first song.
Between reality and the digital realm, they started to record, compose, write and exchange what would become this LP around 2020.

Bordeaux-based, Guillaume works as an artist plastician and sound performer. He is known for his project The Garçon and performs under the moniker Po.Go.
Berlin-based, Andrew spends most of his time there and in his studio in Bretagne, France. He is part of the electronic Disco band called Acid Washed and has collaborated with Patti Smith and Jean Michel Jarre.

Andrew and Guillaume incessantly travelled back-and-forth between Berlin and Bordeaux, communicating via email, to create this record. 
LPS founder Assaf, first encountered Andrew in the local Berlin scene, and was astonished by his eclectic variety of electronic music; the type of art that fits the label like a glove. Beyond their sonic adventures, the duo inspired Assaf to rekindle his ‘not so hands-on’ virtues and express visual reverence, 
creating the album’s artwork.

Les ​Radios Campus sont des espaces d’expérimentation assumée. Partenaire du festival d’Avignon dans le cadre des « Ateliers de la Pensée », les Radios Campus chahutent la création sonore et questionnent le lien fraternel entre théâtre et radio. Après trois jours d’ateliers sonores en prise directe avec le Festival. Programme enregistré le 20 juillet 2017 en direct du site Louis Pasteur à Avignon.

Notre présence au Festival est une opportunité d’ouvrir plusieurs voies créatives, pour les membres des radios comme pour les auditeurs-trices, trop peu souvent initiées sur les ondes. : celle de la création sonore et du lien historique entre radio et théâtre.

Une équipe bénévole travaillera à l’écriture et à la production de pièces sonores. Originales, ludiques et créatives, elles seront le résultat d’ateliers radiophoniques menés avec nos invités. Nous avons ainsi convié celles ou ceux qui composent en partie la programmation du festival d’Avignon à venir contribuer, à leur manière, à l’élaboration des contenus sonores.

Ces ateliers, sur la base d’entretien sur place et d’un temps en intérieur ou extérieur, seront enregistrés et constitueront la matière sonore qui permettra à l’équipe de travail de réaliser des pièces sonores sur des formes et des thèmes pré-définis: « Verbe & Démocratie », « Jeunesse en Errance », Europe VS Guerre » ainsi qu’un autre thème tout aussi réflexif. Les meilleurs pièces seront alors présentés lors d’une émission en direct et en publique sur le plateau du site Louis Pasteurs le 20 juillet 14:30. Egalement en direct des radios Campus de France et sur la webradio de ce même site internet.

Radiomuse, le programme musical d'échange partout en Europe !

The 21st edition of the Radiomuse programme showcases the following artists and music: we spoke to N’Toko, one of the finest rappers in slovenian hip-hop history, we interviewed Blaž, a beat-maker, producer and writer. We listen to Muzikačaka, a solo avantgarde pop female venture and a few songs from a compilation from one of the leading D.I.Y. avant-garde, free-improv and sound exploration label Zvočni Prepihi / Sound Draughts.

The first interview of the show is with N’Toko. Miha Blažič is a rapper, producer, a journalist and activist, who hails from Novo Mesto, the urban centre of the southeast parts of Slovenia, but he has been living in the country’s capital Ljubljana for quite a few years now. He rose to prominence in Slovenian hip-hop through being a frontman of a experimental hip-hop collective Moveknowledgement and through the freestyling scene back when it was still really active. He continued his career by rapping in both English and Slovenian and went on to record 4 solo records and one in collaboration with the producer BeatMyth. In recent years he often collaborated with Blaž, another guest on today’s programme, with his most recent release being N’Toko’s album Emirates from 2017, released on Unique records from Germany.

We conducted the second interview with Blaž, a producer hailing from the seaside region of Slovenia who has become known as the “wonderkid of slovenian experimental beatmaking”. He started making music at a young age and with his dense, eclectic musical style he quickly became one of the most unique sounding artists of the second Slovenian beatmaking spring. He is a collaborator of N’Toko, he released his albums on the Beton record label ran by our radio coworker and one of the icons of the slovenian hip-hop movement Jizah DaFunk. Blaž encountered a short setback in his career after developing tinitus, a condition connected to being exposed to excessive amounts of loud music, which sparked his career in writing. Blaž  wrote a novel titled Tat Not and also started creating visual art. He returned to music with his critically acclaimed album Steven from 2018. We spoke to Blaž about his career and his current activites.

Radiomuse #21 | Radio Student Ljubljana

The 22nd edition of Radio Muse we tried to select every artist we accidentally missed in the last months. For our special feature we had an interview with Ivan Ščapec from the bend Seine and previously from Vlasta Popić and Eine. We were very happy to host him because he is probably the only musician who played more gigs in France than in Croatia in 2019. He gave an insight into his musical world and how we manages his own art. 

We listened to She Loves Pablo and their new single Houdini. Their new album called Death Threats from Future Self will bring them to their biggest club-gig to date. They mix hard rock, stoner, blues and other styles in a package full of energy. 

Next we had Moskau, a dark, gloomy, blues rock band from Koprivnica and Zagreb. With their constant refrences to their heroes such as John Coltrane, Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Velvet Underground they stirred up the alternative scene when they came out a few years back. Now with their third album they became a household name in Zagreb clubs

ABOP is an electronic techno act played live with a whole band and lightshow. They are provocative but also innovative with their approach to music. Their new album surely will be one of the top albums of 2020 on the Croatian alternative scene. 

Mašinko is a punk band that brings a party to everyshow because they have such a big fanbase. Their lyrics tend to waver between completely hedonistic to proactive and highly political. Punk music in Croatia tends to be popular and listened but without any formal promotion and this band represents that. 

Last but not least, we also listened to the blues roots artist Bebe Na Vole. His real name is Adam and he mostly performs by himself. His music was widely missed by the critics and public until 2017 when Adam made everyone listen. He also does music for theater and plays a lot of instruments.

I have a vist at Sissy Sound Records, a store that just opened in fall 2019. Its is operated by owner Holger van Dordrecht. Since
2011 van Doderecht already hosts the event „Nil Desperandum“, he is editor of Volksstimme, DJ Sissyboi with edutainer Drehli Robnik and operate Nervenerve.
Sissy Sound Records is a local and international Vinyl, MC, CD, Book, Movie and Merch Store in the heart of Vienna’s 5th district Margareten.

Brigitta Bödenauer is an installation artist, experimental filmmaker and electronic musician based in Vienna. Brigitta has been active as DJ and organizer in Viennas noise and experimentel music scene since the early 1990s. She was a resident DJ at event series like „Club Duchamp“ (Blue Box), „escape lounge“ (t0 public netbase) or the co-organised series „Sundays out of service“ (rhiz).

I ask her about the various stages in her artistic development and a description of some important works.She talks about how the musicians' role on stage has changed in the 1990s and why she believes that it consequently started a local trend which has been subsumed under the term „Austrian Abstracts“.
Together with Rita Stratjel and Peter Votava aka Pure (Mego/Vienna) she curated and organized „Cinemasonic Lounge“, one of Vienna’s first audiovisual clubs (Schikaneder Kino 1999). With the „Innovative Cinema Award“-winning film „Don´t touch me when I start to fell safe“ (Diagonale Filmfestival 2004) she started working with experimental animation. 

In collaboration with Peter Kutin she presented her first light & sound installation „How far is 12 cm?“ in 2011. „Stranded“ is once again a work of hers that is rooted in the tradition of visual music and expanded cinema: vibrations caused by low frequency sounds generate glowing oscillating figures in space. Most recently „Stranded“ was shown in a solo exhibition at Vita Kuben Gallery/Norrlandsopera in Umeå, Sweden. Currently Bödenauer works on „We wont close our umbrellas“, a light and sound piece which is conceived as a live performance or a spatial installation. It premiered in 2018 at WRO Art Center in Wroclaw, Poland and is being continuously expanded and revised since then.

Radiomuse #23 | Radio Orange Vienne

This radio music program is hosted by Radio Pulsar from Poitiers City. The French historical city is at a geographical crossroad between Central France and Brittany, and between Paris and Southwestern renowned music magnet... the city of Bordeaux.

Only lovers Records, created and operating from Poitiers, develops this geographical fact and idea far beyond the city walls. Music lover and talent seeker, Only Lovers’ founder Jude Dacosta decided to roam around and further in search of talented acts that he would welcome to his humble one man home. 

With the use of Internet, present times make it easy to wonder virtually far from your point of origin and onto cities and countries afar without even moving. It allows to dig up hidden gems and bring back them little treasures home. That’s exactly what Jude Dacosta did by collecting some indie folk, pop and rock treasures in Portugal, Hungary and Norway, and inevitably the States.

Whilst lifting the curtain on the label origins and proceedings, the program acts as a free of charge trip to Bordeaux, Porto, Oslo and beyond with the French-American duet Queen of the Meadow whose lead singer settled in France where she met a local musical companion with which she decided to develop a career. It will also take us to Portugal with Sunflowers psych band and to Oslo with tough lounge act Mayflower Madam.

It will nonetheless drop the looking glass on poppy Poitiers’s Starving Woodchucks and some other hidden gems taken from the first compilation issued by the label.

To make a long story short this program is nothing but the story of a spirited young label whose focus is to dig up interesting music, share it and spread it to whomever decides to listen. So there we are.

Radio Muse #24 - Radio Pulsar

Radiomuse IndieRe, c'est le nouveau programme d'échange musical européen sur les radios Campus !
Seconde version du projet, Radiomuse IndieRe succède à Radiomuse et amène de nouvelles nationalités dans le projet : Radio Corax venant dAllemagne, Radio Popolare en Italie et Radio Student Ljubljana de République Tchèque.

In the first airing of the new Indie-Re radio broadcast series Radio Študent from Ljubljana, Slovenia will spotlight the part Slovenian, part international indie rock band In the Attic, the dark dub of Darla Smoking, the sweet and deep electronic beats produced by Kanomotis for the prolific dubstep label Deep End!, the folk orchestra Bakalina Velika and last but not least the jazzcore sounds of Koromač.
