It's been a while since we haven't done any excursions in discoid territories, we've decided to go back to the roots in this new episode, back to the sound where everything  started, both as djs and as a label. 

The guys from Mister T Records have been doing a great job lately releasing a bunch of great editions and mixes signed by artists from the likes of Joutro Mundo, Sim Fossil or Dj Duckcomb among others.

Paris based but originally from Moscow dj, producer and collector shows us this time his vast knowledge and huge repertory of records with an outstanding mix where "funk" will be the leitmotiv of this new MM Cast.

Sim Fossil has always been fascinated by electronic music ,he started producing music at the age of 13 when he found his first inspirations in house and downtempo artists as  King Kooba. Later on in Paris, found his path in music with Mister T Records, calling the attention of well respected djs from the present underground scene.

Con más de 20 años al servicio de la electrónica, @timothy-j-fairplay ha forjado un sonido que abarca todo tipo de géneros desde un enfoque melódico y analógico. 

Junto a @andrew-weatherall formaba parte del dúo Asphodells, donde se dio a conocer rápidamente con trabajos de corte más lento. Influenciado por el sonido de la costa oeste holandesa, Timothy ha publicado en sellos como @pinkmanrecords, @knekelhuis o hoga-nord-rekords.

Sus últimas producciones han evolucionado hacia un sonido más rápido, pero manteniendo la esencia y eclecticismo que tanto le caracterizan. Recientemente ha estrenado @dungeon-module, su nuevo sello donde publicará próximamente nuevas referencias junto a otros artistas.

If you have not heard of Bárbara yet, fear not, you will; Having just dropped her killer debut release on Toy Tonics in May and already having smashed sets out for the likes of Dekmantel Selectors, Boiler Room and Permanent Vacation we can clearly see this is nothing but an up hill trajectory for the talent. For this set Bárbara is bringing us to the day party, the closing of the Summer set if you will. Perfectly built up with a a solid mixture of taste and fun. Over the past 8 years or so we have had, along with Theo Parrish, the honour of playing the monthly residencies at a small basement club in Shoreditch, London with an impeccable sound system. After 20 years of operation, it was time to move on and close the doors on a place that has a lot to answer for in shaping modern club culture. To say this space along with the owner Ade’s singular vision was fundamental in our personal musical formation would be a complete understatement. 
 
On the day of their closing, manager Charlotte asked us if we’d put the system through its paces for the last time that the club would be open to the public. We set about packing the anthems from our respective residencies and on the night once the people were through the doors played 2 records in turn for the rest of the dance. We included tracks of our own and of friends that were made with that place in mind. Records like Daphni - Ye Ye and Four Tet - Pinnacles were made to first be played at Kieran’s nights there, and the Floating Points - Vacuum EP was born out of the CD-R night at the club, and its launch party was the trigger for Sam’s monthly residency.
 
We set this recording up just before the start of the night and unfortunately it distorts in places, but we make no apology for how joyfully noisy people get! The vibe in the room this night was typical of the club on any given night and we hope this recording captures just a fraction of the spirit of a Plastic People night.
 
A massive thank you from us to everyone that has come down to the nights over the years and supported our music there. We are truly humbled to have shared the music we love with people at this place, and your energy in turn has influenced the way we make music on an unfathomable scale. We also thank the bosses Charlotte Kepel and Ade Fakile for inviting us to the club and having faith in us over  these years! All the best for the future!

Here is the 2nd in a series of 'mixes' I intend to make over the coming weeks of music that I find particularly tranquil. I will try to make these one hour sessions filled with beautiful music that is helpful and calming to listen to while we get through this extraordinarily hard time. The music here definitely helps me feel less anxious. I have taken a slightly different approach on this one and it does feature some beats later in the mix, so feedback welcome on whether this one has the desired effect. It is also available as a 320 download.
