"Rock the Boat" is a disco legend, conceived by Wally Holmes and hidden in The Hues Corporation's 1973 debut album. However, its true rise to fame didn't occur until early 1974 when it climbed the charts. Picture the song as a lost sailor, adrift and unnoticed, until the disco gods favored it in New York City's dance floors. Top 40 radio eventually caught on, propelling it to the top of the Hot 100 in the summer of 1974. In just seven weeks, it became a golden record, etching its name in music history.

"Rock the Boat" wasn't merely a chart-topper; it was a cosmic force that inspired synchronized dance moves. People mimicked rowing a boat at weddings and parties, making it a spectacle. In Ireland, it even gained notoriety, appearing in the TV series "Derry Girls."

In a twist, Richard Finch of KC and the Sunshine Band claimed "Rock the Boat" influenced his hit "Rock Your Baby." The disco world is a web of inspiration and influence.

In 2023, editor Ben Jamin revitalizes this disco classic for a new era on Discoholics Anonymous. Ben Jamin, a Liverpool native, is a prominent DJ and producer with releases on esteemed labels. His tracks blend disco, funk, and electronic elements, appealing to music enthusiasts. As a DJ, he crafts immersive sets that bridge classic and contemporary sounds. Ben Jamin's contributions to renowned labels highlight his artistic prowess, carrying Liverpool's musical legacy forward while venturing into new musical territories. His journey promises to reverberate across global dancefloors.

RADIO ELECTRONICA was one of the first independent radio programmes to go on air in Jena in 1999. The background was to bring colour into the dreary Thuringian radio programme and to create a platform where regional and national artists from the electronic music scene could present themselves and exchange ideas. RADIO ELECTRONICA claims to be always on the trail of new influences, trends and artists in the field of electronic music.

The show quickly developed from the first pre-productions to a live broadcast, which can be heard every four weeks on Saturdays from 7pm to midnight on the open channel Jena on UKW 103.4 Mhz and via online stream (https://radio-okj.de/wp-content/themes/radiookj/okj-player.html).

With a steadily growing fan base, RADIO ELECTRONICA is still a firm institution in the field of electronic music in Jena and beyond the city limits. Besides the latest scene trends and record presentations, studio guests are a big part of the show.
