On Repetitions, New York-based Swiss artist and composer @samuelreinhard brings us close enough to a piece of music that its systematic nature begins to buckle and fade. Across four movements, three pianos pursue their own respective threadbare motifs, which overlap at the hands of a predetermined ratio of duration. What unfolds—at first glance slow, melancholic, deliberate, even plain—is a study of repetition’s in-betweens, populated by unexpected resonances and delicate traces of notes in the process of being played by human hands. The three pianos are not in sync, but are nevertheless in relation, the nature of which shifts with the listener’s orientation and attention. Each piece within Repetitions arrives as a constant whole, containing harmonies and silences that are in a never-ending process of unfurling.
 
Repetitions is a joint release from @hallowground and Präsens Editionen and follows offerings by @Kali-Malone , @lawrence-english , and FUJI | | | | | | | | | | TA  on Hallow Ground, and Robert Turman, @magda-drozd , and Anna Homler on Präsens Editionen.

Abtin Golfam
 (b. 2003), AKA ‘T-Noll’ is an independent composer from Iran. He started playing music when he was a teenager, playing 'violin'. He started composing since he was attending the Music Conservatory in Karaj-school. He is influenced by a variety of different music, including hip-hop and more Contemporary art-movements all beyond his interest in Modern music, schools like Futurism. He has already published three independent music albums. 
He pursued his passion into music by attending the art-school for fine-arts before attending the Music conservatory in the city of Karaj. He received music instructions from credible musicians, including Afshin Alvavi, Siavash Esmaili, Hesam Jafari, Farhad Ebrahimkhani, Alireza Akbarpour. He has received a few awards for his performance with the ‘Sehtar’ instrument at least for two consecutive competitions while studying at the art-school. He eventually started studying ‘Audio Technology', at Azad University Central Tehran branch, where he is currently receiving education under the supervision of Reza Sabooni. 
He employs creative coding, programming environments and generally the sound technology for making sounds,  using Pure Data (A visual and interactive computer music development programming language).

Alena Koleso works with various ways of observing and documenting the surrounding world, as well as its reflection in human memory in the form of flashbacks and false memories. In her practice, Alena mainly uses the medium of photography and also turns to graphics and various printing techniques. indigoblue is a musician and sound artist living in Toulouse, France. With a strong interest in collective and horizontal practices, they’re involved in several local organisations and actively contribute to Toulouse’s scene.

They’re a cofounder of the collective Le Comité des Fêtes, which organises festive events in an autonomous ethos, driving inspiration from sound system culture and anti-authoritarian readings. They’re also involved in the organisation of the festival Les Siestes and the decentralised community Global URL Nation.

indigoblue’s solo practice takes interest in experimental forms of electronic music, with a particular focus on drone and field recording. They engage in diverse mediums such as composition, production, live performance and djing. Additionally, they run ‘spinal spiral’, a recurring show on Toulouse-based web radio Egregore.

" I've been working on a collage including personal recordings and music with which I resonated. Most of the recordings were collected in the context of the preparation of festive events organized by a collective I'm a part of, Le Comité des Fêtes. Our events are organized in an autonomous and horizontal ethos, drawing heavy inspiration from sound system culture and anarchist readings. They usually take place in a community-driven space in Toulouse or temporary outdoor venues, where we try to think and act in resistance to oppressive and capitalist dynamics. Other recordings are extracted from my personal archive."

This new edition of 24 hrs/Palestine will take place on April 6 and 7, midway between two important dates for Palestine: Land Day (March 30) and Prisoner’s Day (April 17). The contributions and interventions of this new edition are an attempt to think with these two days in the midst of the colonial war and genocide in Gaza.
 
Land and Freedom are not just slogans. They are daily struggles that the Palestinian people have been waging for decades. Marching on 1m² of earth or digging a few cm into a prison floor with a spoon are acts of resistance whose echoes will be reverberating around the world on April 6 and 7, 2024.

Land and freedom. These words will circulate across languages and geographies. Tierra y Libertad, الأرض والحرية, Земля та Свобода, Terre et Liberté... They are part of, and resonate within, a revolutionary and anti-colonialist pathway rooted in peasant movements for land, fights against slavery, fights against layers of oppression, for liberation, and for self-determination.

Reverberating resistances programme Radio Fantasia x Plotting Institute text: 
Reverberating Resistances is a translocal sharing of sonic statements, relating land-based struggles.  It is co-organised by Radio Fantasia and Plotting Institute. 
Overlapping liberation struggles show that colonialism is an international project, maintained by competition and collaboration between Western and non-Western empires. How to carry each other’s voices as they keep being silenced?  To counter violent imperial clashes and overlaps, we create a space for reverberations in solidarity with resistance to Israeli settler colonial project.  Participants resonate with Palestinian struggle from situated positions of Crimean Tatar, Ukranian, Armenian, Uyghur, Bashkort, Qazaq resistances to Russian, Turkish, Azerbaijani, Chinese states colonial projects. 

We start from grief for the lives taken and lands contaminated. To find the methods of sabotage, refusal and reclamation, we analyse the imperial overlaps and exchanges of deadly technologies. And then move towards collectively crafting a radical hope to echo across contexts.

"Last year, I was invited to perform at SPRH’s annual fundraiser event ‘Beats across Borders’, dedicated to supporting refugees in Paris. I created a 3 decks set for this occasion, weaving together artists from the SWANA region and beyond. As an artist (and a human mostly), engaging in charity events and volunteering to NGO° has been an integral part of my journey from the outset. 

In an age where struggles are disturbingly confined to the digital realm, and cultural workers are closely associated to their digital persona, I find peace in tangible actions. I thrive through them as a (very tiny) form of relief in myself amidst the out-of-control global chaos in the world - at different scales of intensity in each specific places. I believe that the value lies not in who does the most, but in each individual making a contribution, commensurate with their own capacity and resources - be it emotional or material. It’s a collective endeavor and journey we must undertake together, uniting in solidary to confront the challenges ahead. Only through community we can heal and progress in these uncertain times."

Resident at Hong Kong Community Radio (HKCR) with her '𝕻𝖍𝖆𝖓𝖙𝖆𝖘𝖒𝖆𝖌𝖔𝖗𝖎𝖆’ show, she has played with several collectives across Europe.

°Sciences Po Refugee Help is an NGO that brings together over 100 students to help refugees in Paris with everything from legal help to French lessons. 

Each year SPRH puts together a fundraiser night of music called ‘Beats across Borders’ to celebrate local and refugee talents whilst directly funding refugee projects in Paris.

Use Knife is the Belgian-Iraqi band formed by Kwinten Mordijck, Saif Al-Qaissy and Stef Heeren, in collaboration with visual artist Youniss Ahamad.

In September 2022, Use Knife released their debut album, 'The Shedding of Skin,' on VIERNULVIER records (Gent, BE). This record revolved around human resilience and the courage to build a new life in an entirely different environment. One year later, Use Knife returned with ‘Sowieso F***ed’, a provocative anthem characterized by its chaotic blend of samples and sounds, “There is nothing half-hearted about Use Knife as a live act. You get the distinct feeling that each member is totally energised by this iteration of their collective art. A Belgian article dubbed their sound “electronic outsider music,” yet for me it is an all-embracing vortex that allows those experiencing it a chance to plunge, headfirst, into a hypnotic state that veers between a dreamlike trance and a sensual workout.” wrote The Quietus.

On April 8 2024, Use Knife released the remix 10” vinyl EP 'Peace Carnival' through Berlin's Morphine Records. Zoë Mc Pherson, Rabih Beaini, and Muqata’a have reinterpreted three tracks from Use Knife's debut album. The EP challenges the narrative around peace through its percussions, glitches, distortions, and Muslimgauze-esque minimalism to rethink and transform perceptions of justice and freedom.

This year, Carnival’s usual satire and mockery target any one-sided ‘peace’.

Since February 2023, Use Knife has been hosting a monthly radio show titled 'Feeding the Gentry' on Palestinian station 'Radio alHara' (also featured on NTS Radio, Rinse.fm, and Kiosk Radio).

Tehran-born and London-based, Ash Koosha creates music that is stripped of genre, style and conventional structure. His training in classical music and his interest in computer music from a young age has equipped him with necessary tools to construct, break, form and deform at the same time. The result is sound that is fragmented, unearthly yet natural, collage-like yet seamless. 

His latest work, GUUD is a sonic experience, where classical variations and harmonies meet manipulated sample grains. It is a field, a ‘place where he deals with scientific and psychological questions’ and where he manipulates his senses by creating a synesthetic experience. He understands emotional and physical limits and pushes those emotions to the extreme without the extreme effect, as he simulates the sound of exploding speakers or collapsing percussion structures in a listenable frequency. It is by treating sound as physical matter that he can then apply a simulation of physical forces to it: shattering, positioning, joining, liquifying or pressuring. 

One of the ideas that Ash has introduced in GUUD and will be further discovered in his future projects, is ‘nano-composition’. Born out of his obsession with scale and based on ideas explored in nanotechnology and quantum realm, nano-composition can be defined as creating a composition, based on the sonic behaviour of fractal patterns that exist within a stretched or rescaled sound wave but without pitch alteration. It is visually treating grains in wave forms as particles and create sonic ‘events’ within that wave form. Although these events are controlled and structured by the composer, their randomness and internal chaos offers an element of singularity and rarity. It is a deconstruction of what is conventionally and sonics-wise ‘good’ music. GUUD is ‘good’ without the perfection of perfectly round ‘o’s.
