The regular (stable) program explores unstable situations, political and social problems, such as discrimination, armed conflicts, oppression, breaking into everyday life.

This is an archive collected by artists, curators, activists, journalists, theorists, poets and researchers in situations of instability and upheaval, whose activities include fight for their rights.

Participants share experiences, emotions or their research using sound: field recordings, music, voice messages, notes and voice messages, everyday conversations, soundscapes, etc. The main purpose of each episode is the dissemination of important information, the share of the position and analysis of current and past social and political disasters, as well as civil resistance in its various forms.

In attachments, mix authors can share independent sources of information and external links, for example, fundraising companies or other projects. Audio-visual materials can also be attached to the episodes: photographs, moving images and texts in order to more clearly reflect the studies and situations described by the authors of the works.

Ali Asfour, a Palestinian, Ramallah-based analog film photographer who balances exposing the realities of Palestinian existence with preserving the beauty of his roots, culture, and traditions.

" The mix I’ve compiled for Radio Fantasia is my response to the horrors we’ve been witnessing for the past 78 years and this year. It’s more than just a collection of sounds—it’s my statement of solidarity, resistance.

As we have been watching the genocide unfold, I couldn’t just stand still. I had to turn to music, to sound, to craft something that reflects both the pain we’ve felt and the strength that still pulses within us.

This mix is a journey—through death and resurrection, existence and resistance, love and the human connections that can never be erased, even in the face of oppression. It’s a sonic landscape, blending experimental, ambient sounds with spoken word poetry, and infused with percussions that carry the weight of memories we refuse to look away from.

I included audio samples from old Syrian and Palestinian radio broadcasts, moments in time that hold deep meaning for our collective histories, and tracks from musicians who’ve dedicated their art to standing with Palestine and other global struggles.

Every piece, every beat, is layered with intention.

It’s not just a mix; it’s a way to remind us all that even in the darkest times, we should always resist. It’s a reminder that art, in its most honest form, can rise above oppression, speaking truth to power.

This is my way of showing that our struggle, our voices, and our memories are etched into existence, and no force can erase that. "

Stories are the threads that weave the fabric of our lives, linking our past experiences with the rhythm of our present and the hopes for our future. My narrative traces the journeys of the women in my family, spanning four generations – from my great-grandmother in early 20th-century Russia to myself, the fourth generation, navigating my hybrid identity throughout Kazakhstan, Karakalpakstan and Uzbekistan. These stories travel across different spatial and temporal landscapes, creating a rich tapestry of struggles and triumphs that brighten our shared history and resilience across the Soviet era and beyond. For this sound project, the third generation, my beloved opa Fatima, reads from her diary, written in Russian. I conclude this narrative with a poem dedicated to my female lineage, honouring their enduring legacy. This exploration is a part of my research into decolonizing gender discourse in Uzbekistan, offering a personal lens through family stories to challenge prevailing narratives.

Gulnoza Irgasheva is a filmmaker and activist based in Namangan, Uzbekistan. Gulnoza's artistic and activist practices focus on decoloniality, Muslim women's agency, and resistance strategy to oppression dynamics and colonial constructs based on gender, ethnicity, religion, race, and sexual orientation. Utilizing a participatory approach, their artistry involves decentralized decision-making, engaging the entire cast in every stage of filmmaking.

We visited Namangan, where our relatives live and went to our grandmother‘s house. We were welcomed warmly and were soon seated around the familiar low table - xontaxta. As we sipped our tea, we felt the comfort of home. 

We told our grandmother that we intended to have an interview with her, to which she agreed. In turn with Gulnoza, we asked questions about her childhood, parents and other stories from her past. Her memories were vivid, and we could feel the love and strength of her family through her words. 

We talked about Islam during Soviet period, specifically how could her parents and grandparents could keep practising it, despite 
anti-religious regulations. 

This recording also contains methods of passing knowledge to younger generations using oral history.

Our group is a reaction to the lack of feminist initiatives in the Uzbek language across the country. We want to bring more voices of Uzbek-speaking women* from the regions to the relevant for us discourses by actively engaging them without imposing non-contextual Western feminist approaches. 

This is our journey towards tolerance and solidarity. We have various ethnic, gender and religious identities within the collective. We represent diverse fields: entrepreneurship, data science, filmmaking, marketing, political science. We’re learning to cherish these distinctions in us and standing for feminism taking different forms.

‘Maqaal’ is an attempt to build an open horizontal space for women’s* resistance to the hierarchical power dynamics in the post- and neocolonial realities of Uzbekistan. We are against various forms of oppression based on class, ethnicity, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation education, physical and mental needs and occupation.

Referring to the idea ‘nothing about us without us’, this platform is a tool for self-preservation and self-representation as women* living on the territory of Uzbekistan.

The area from where my great grandmother is located is in the Navoi region of Uzbekistan. This region is known for its windy and dusty conditions, with extreme temperature levels - extremely cold nights & hot days during the summer, and very cold winters. 
It is an oasis in the middle of the Kyzyl-Kum desert, getting lost to the growing monstrous resource extraction industrial sites. 
During the Soviet period the area nearby became very industrialized for mining gold and uranium. Little has changed since then. It is full of people trying to profit from the resources the land has there. Because of this, the place is becoming more and more unhealthy. 
However, along with mixed feelings of sadness, resistance, and despair, I find this place very tranquil and kind. I do not know if anybody would have similar feelings. Is this because I am somehow connected to this place or just simply because it really is like this? 
There is a canal that I've known since my childhood trips to this place. I love its sound mixed with the sounds of the birds. 
Clover, corn, apples, goats, and me. They/we have their sound too, but the wind again surpasses all the sounds. 
I rarely see people outside there. Almost no cars nearby. 
Yet the wind is there. It turned out to be too strong. Many other sounds get lost. 
I want to save this feeling of rawness in the recordings, the ruthlessness of the wind mixed with sometimes pleasant sounds of the water, birds, and seconds of ‘almost silence’. 
I want the audio to be disturbing mostly but not completely. There should be some sense of refugee too.

"Growing up in Bucharest, I was surrounded by strange objects from a haunting past I hadn’t experienced. I’m interested in the living archive, the accumulation of different bits and pieces and the re-imagining of the future through a sonic approach.
I’m a collector: some things I keep on my phone or hoard under my bed, some I find online and in other anonymous corners.
For this sound piece, I was inspired by my family’s cassette collection from the 80’s. I pictured going through a big pile of tapes of lost content and stories about expectation, transformation, grief, desire, absurdity. It’s a journey to meet spirits of the past and the future."

Switzerland-based musician and visual artist Ana Bălan writes songs reminiscing ghosts from here and there. Influenced by 80’s alternative, 90's emo, shoegaze and noise pop, she writes experimental pop songs inspired by stories of love and grief. Her music is closely related to her practice of poetry, drawing and performance, building a melancholy universe of intimate confessions. Ana Bălan is signed to No Salad Records, releasing her first album in December 2023.

“The trickling of water through the fissures in the subterranean rock was suddenly drowned out when the mountain made an immense but also somehow distant sound. 
Everyone fell silent.”

i just started reading The Man with the Compound Eyes by Wu Ming-yi. The book opens with this breaking of order, setting off panic amongst a group of people who are described like laboratory researchers. An anxious moment short of prediction, all told through a description of the soundscape. 

“Then Jung-hsiang Li shouted. That sure wasn’t groundwater surging. Wasn’t loose rocks shifting or bedrock bursting, either. And it obviously wasn’t a vocal echo.”

This mix is a musical interpretation of this opening chapter, with songs that remind me best that sounds, lyrics, progressions, rhythms, beats, etc, etc, all carry a soul.

I opened and closed the mix with tracks from Harry Roesli, an Indonesian singer-songwriter who expressed political criticisms through avant-garde rock and blues, slashing through the peaceful images Indonesia wanted to sell as a new country in the 1970s. In school, the disgusting tragedies throughout Indonesia’s past were only hinted at, the decades-long state-sponsored censorship creating an inescapable hush-hush culture. As I sought out hidden stories, universes from these periods, Harry Roesli became a catalyst to re-discovering Indonesian history.

I am especially curious about the way sound carries universes and music paints pictures, stories, I hope this mix gives you a glimpse into my sonic aquarium of dreams, memories, fantasies, etc, etc, etc. <3

As a music and sound artist, Nic Krog’s signature is a distinct and volatile blend of bass-heavy
club music juxtaposed with subversive sound art and spoken word. Their artistic trajectory is
characterized through a diaristic approach, recounting mental processes and psychological
baggage from growing up as a queer outlier in a smalltown of Denmark. The work traces the
metamorphosis of the colloquial introvert to their negotiation of place in the hedonistic capital of Berlin, Germany. Their debut album “Reproaching the Absurd” (released under former artist
moniker Misantrop by Opal Tapes in 2021), explored the artist’s enduring struggle with
depression while their forthcoming release, the audio play “Perfect Pattern” (Psychic Liberation, 2025), is a first foray an overt narrative style, presenting a raw portrayal of a different kind of emotional and psychological self-awareness. Twentieth century experimental compositional music, queer house music from the 90s, and most significantly the storytelling of soap operas and Jean-Luc Godard's “Le Mépris” are the formal canon that reinforces the architecture of “Perfect Pattern”.

Neue Medizin is a Berlin-based artist and one of the two founders of the Kontext label. 

A fresh face on the Berlin scene, he’s quickly gained recognition within the city’s ambient and creative community for his distinct and evolving sound.

Over the past year, his production has shifted toward more dancefloor-focused material — most notably in his latest release, Stereogram, a cohesive and genre-blending album. Yet his DJ sets often tell a different story. 

Excluding his appearance at Brussels’ Gimic, his recent mixes for Noods Radio, Systemnapotvora, and syg.ma lean deeply into experimental territories, weaving together hip hop textures, oddball rhythms, and a growing archive of obscure rock influences — something especially palpable in his Noods set.

An upcoming live performance at Tresor West — soon to be announced — will be another exploration of this intersection between dancefloor energy and experimental hip hop elements.

As a curator behind the Berlin-based Kontext label, Neue Medizin envisions the project as a true sanctuary for uninhibited music — sounds that demand release, that move your body at the club, and live with you in your home listening library or on a solitary walk.

One of the label’s most anticipated events takes place on July 5th, featuring an impressive lineup. There, Neue Medizin will perform a hybrid mix, echoing the tone of his recent radio work, in a B2B set with Ukrainian artist xtclvr.

Sao is a Bishkek-based DJ and a driving force in Kyrgyzstan’s underground electronic music scene. Known for her energetic and emotionally charged sets, she weaves together techno, trance, breaks, hardgroove with a distinct eastern, Central Asian pulse.

As a core member of the Ailan Collective, Sao has helped shape a new wave of club culture in Bishkek, focusing on community, sound, and resistance. Her work has reached beyond local borders — including several underground parties and festivals like “Kolfest” (KG), Stihia”, “Sublimation” (UZ), “Raving Steppe”, “Vector”(KZ) and live set on HÖR Berlin, where she brought the raw, unfiltered spirit of Bishkek’s nightlife to an international audience.

She also curates the “Jylañach Jürök” show on Rytmabad Radio (UZ), a platform for deep, heartfelt sounds and voices often left unheard.

Episode description:
This recording documents a collaborative exploration during an artistic residency of Shape+ Platform in Prague at MeetFactory. During the residency, Sofi (Sofia Zaiceva), Sorbitol Drops (Antonín Závodný) and Natálie Pleváková collaborated to develop an experimental sound performance, questioning how contemplative practices become commodified experiences to be consumed efficiently rather than embodied processes to be lived fully. We explored the juxtaposition between authentic musical experience and its digital packaging.
We built our concept around observing how streaming platforms reduce music to absurdly grotesque algorithmic categories. Taking this phenomenon to its logical extreme, we created our own playlist categories that reflect the reductive nature of digital music curation - "lowkey wild ambient," "lo-fi girl," "coastal heavy hitters," "comfort zone anthem," "mainstage confidence." We wanted to find out how we could adapt our sounds to these absurd "genre" categories, which mostly refer to certain aesthetics, moods or situations, playing around with humorous "wannabe" sonic representations of various weird music styles.
Drawing inspiration from audio plays and guided listening experiences, we developed a conversational, improvisational structure that mirrored our back-and-forth interaction as performers. We discussed how it's still highly relevant to reflect on how we consume and perceive music, including our expectations for how music should sound or even look in its visual representation as part of its commodification.
We have used various computer music approaches - SuperCollider live coding, Ableton Live and BitWig, Instagram input, voice manipulation, hardware processors in improvisational setting. Our performance felt like good conversation without limitations: super present and thoughtful, but also fun and responsive.

Elif Gülin Soğuksu is an electroacoustic composer, performer, and researcher born in Istanbul and currently based in Berlin. She holds her master’s degree at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague (NL). Elif draws inspiration from the fugitive behavior and cross-modality of imagination in sound; her compositional practice grounds on catching the sounds of the mind. She researches essentially on the human voice as a potent in the formation of mentally produced sounds. Her electroacoustic pieces and live performances bridge algorithmic approaches, including voice-driven live electronics and creative coding, digital processing, acousmatic music, and spatial sound. She released her debut EP on Søvn Records in July 2024 and released other music on Riforma, and MIC Lithuania labels. She works as a sound designer for multidisciplinary projects and as a sound engineer and technician for live concerts. Her recent and upcoming residencies include *Topia Festival (DE), Kintai.Kitaip (LT), Sound Topographies GMEA Albi (FR), Elektronmusikstudion EMS Stockholm (SE), among others. She is currently doing an internship at MONOM Berlin.

Oélia Gouret is an artist living in Tokyo.
Their work is rooted in disappearance—of sex workers, of their grandmother, of friendship, of celebration, of squats, of themselves within the crowd. They work in their bedroom, outside, on trains, buses, or the floor. They doesn’t collect objects to make more objects, but rather accumulates fragments—images, phrases, digital traces—stored in the notes app of their phone. They gravitate toward the edges of rooms, close to the door when possible, always on the aisle seat.

Runa treats art like a healing process and exploration tool. The core topics of artworks are personal optics, metaphor squared, and social aspects. The focus of practices is directed to the deep interconnectedness of things and concepts, often leaving the space between works and the person in the pursuit of a conversation.

I tend to search for words out of a need to explain myself in places detached from any meaning – places like the internet, a jar of wine, or a washing machine. Sometimes I stop questioning if I’m even dreaming. But then I start noticing horses in post offices, smelling mold near the monuments, and dancing occasionally – so am I still young? I wish I could run with puppies, surround myself with carnations, and, at the end of the day, go to sleep. But this is mix #3, and we are in Barreiro, Portugal, Soundcloud, the Atlantic Ocean, Radio Fantasia, Planet Parade, Mercury Retrograde, the 15th century, World War Four, the Rabbit Hole, 24/365 – there are so many… And We Are Just Here At The Same Fucking Place.

Alëna Koleso is a visual and sound artist residing in Barreiro, Portugal. Her work moves between drawing, publishing, and noise music – often performed in spaces ranging from the village to academia. In her performances, Koleso works with everyday objects, such as washing machines, pencils, and bicycles – transforming them into chaotic symphonies that challenge the audience’s comfort and curiosity. For her DJ sets, she blends field recordings and spontaneous finds, jumping across genres and seeking new connections. Her practice is driven by questioning how we remember and experience the world – not to find answers, but to create space for a shift, a break, a collective crack to fall through.
